When taking into account the price tag of a college education, it’s important for you to consider the value of the education you will receive. SIUE offers you excellence that is affordable.

Our tuition and required fees are among the lowest of all four-year institutions in Illinois. Last year alone, we awarded $148 million in scholarships and financial aid and our average financial aid package was $11,950.

It’s no surprise SIUE made Washington Monthly magazine’s 2013 select list of “Best Bang for Your Buck” colleges and universities. The magazine created the ranking to identify those colleges that do the best job of helping students attain marketable degrees at affordable prices. Out of the 1,572 colleges and universities in Washington Monthly’s broader college rankings, only 349 made this list.

In order to take full advantage of the financial aid available to you, it is important that you apply for federal financial aid by filing a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as soon as possible. You can file beginning January 1. The earlier your FAFSA is filed, the more eligible you are for federal aid, which is given on a first-come, first-served basis. You don’t have to have your tax return completed in order to file a FAFSA.

The SIUE Office of Financial Aid will work with you to put together a combination of scholarships, grants, student loans, parent loans and student employment to help you fund your education.

The average starting salary of SIUE graduates is $44,200. That’s more than graduates from Illinois State, Butler, University of Nebraska, Loyola Chicago, University of Kansas, Drake, Indiana State, Truman State ... the list goes on. (According to payscale.com, which ranks institutions by the average earnings of their graduates)

A doctor of dental medicine (DMD) from the School of Dental Medicine opens the door to a world of professional opportunities. As a dental medicine student, you will receive intensive clinical instruction during the four-year program—using state-of-the-art equipment and technology, and experiencing a broad range of patient-care opportunities.

SIUE and the School of Dental Medicine offer a combined arts and sciences dental curriculum leading to a bachelor of science and a doctor of dental medicine to a select number of students. If admitted, you’ll complete the three-year pre-professional portion on the Edwardsville campus and the four-year professional component on our Alton campus.

Students have the opportunity to provide direct patient care at our main clinic on the Alton campus and the community clinic in East St. Louis, as well as through our community outreach programs. “Give Kids a Smile Day” treats hundreds of area children each year, providing thousands of dollars worth of free dental treatment, including examinations, X-rays, cleanings, fluoride treatments, fillings and extractions.

Financial aid doesn’t transfer to study abroad.Reality: Most financial aid applies to SIUE’s study abroad programs. There are also a number of scholarships specifically for studying abroad.

Since 2006, the University has completed more than $300 million in construction and infrastructure improvements, adding new state-of-the-art buildings, and enhancing and expanding existing structures.

All new campus construction is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) certifiable by the U.S. Green Building Council. Transfer Admission RequirementsStudents who transfer with 30 semester hours or more from an accredited institution and a minimum cumulative 2.0/4.0 (C) grade point average will be admitted to SIUE.

Students who transfer with fewer than 30 semester hours also must submit a high school transcript and ACT/SAT test scores. These students must meet freshman admission requirements.

Financial Verification The form must be mailed to us with an original signature to be accepted. Applicants must provide a bank statement verifying applicant has the resources to pay for one year of tuition, fees and living expenses.

The first step is to complete the Free Applicationfor Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You can link fromthe SIUE financial aid website at siue.edu/financialaid or directly at fafsa.gov.

Financial aid is available to domestic, degree-seeking students enrolled at least half time and maintaining satisfactory academic progress each term.

Admitted freshmen (with a composite ACT ≥ 23 and/or 1050 SAT) and transfers (3.0 GPA in at least 24 semester hours in transferable coursework) will be considered. This scholarship is designed to support enrollment of students who are underrepresented in their anticipated field of study.

e-GuaranteeLimited funding. Preferential consideration will be given to students completing the application for admission on or before 12/1/2014 and filing the FAFSA as soon as possible after 1/1/15.

Amounts vary. After completing the FAFSA, and applying all available State and Federal programs to a student’s account, SIUE will assist families with filling remaining unmet financial need. Awards will be made as funding is available.

Admitted Illinois freshmen with an ACT ≥ 19 (900 SAT), $0 Expected Family Contribution (EFC) and family income levels at or below federal poverty guidelines.

In- state tuition available to residents of: Arkansas, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Tennessee and Wisconsin; children, grandchildren, siblings, step-children of SIUE alumni; students with an ACT score of 27 or above (SAT 1210-1240).

High-Achiever Scholarship12/1/2014

Eligible out-of-state freshmen receive the in-state tuition rate. The scholarship equates to an annual reduction in tuition of approximately $11,000 (based on15 semester hours of credit) as funding is available.

Geographic Enhancement Opportunity Scholarship (GEO) 12/1/2014 International students eligible

Freshmen and transfers meeting criteria are eligible for up to $9,400 (based on 15 semester hours of credit) as funding is available.

First-time, full-time admitted out-of-state freshmen (with a composite ACT score ≥ 23 and/or 1050 SAT), transfers (3.0 GPA in at least 24 hours of transferable coursework), international students (2.9 GPA and 79 TOEFL, or equivalent), or who have been recognized through a competitive departmental process
