The Spectator CONSTRUCT SPECIAL EDITION November 2015 stlouiscsi.org 1 We hope everyone had a great CONSTRUCT 2015 here in St. Louis. We certainly loved having you . Those of you who stopped by and said hi at the Host Chapter Table, bought commemorave shirts, played golf, helped George Everding become a Fellow, and par- ed with us at the City Museum have given us so many terrific memories. Thanks to eve- ryone who joined us and who helped us make it a great success. In this issue we get back to a lile business, doing what we do when we aren’t hosng a naonal convenon. Read within for informaon about November’s educaon program, meet one of our new directors, and see some great photos from last month’s event. And check out our upcoming events calendar for the latest about our holiday gala , our ever-popular Procrasnator’s Ball, and the spring New Products Show. THE SPECTATOR and the Communicaons Commiee are specifically looking for a Commiee Co-Chair and content wrangler. Wouldn’t it be great if you had a direct monthly pipeline for your educaonal and informaonal content directly to the brains of St. Louis’ premier specifiers and designers? And wouldn’t it be great if you could help other CSI members reach those same deci- sion-makers (yes, you’d have to help your competors occasionally, but that’s a small price to pay, right?)? The SPECTATOR needs your help in solicing and coordinang quali- ty content for our monthly newsleer. This is a limited commitment for this year only (thru May 2016) and requires only that you help our Commiee Chair Ginny Powell and contact industry experts to obtain a page or two of quality content for each upcoming SPECTATOR. You won’t be creang the newsleer, just helping to fill it. Best wishes, Michael Byrd, CSI CDT AIA LEED-AP Editor, Greater St. Louis Chapter 2nd VP Principal CORE10 Architecture The Spectator

We hope everyone had a great CONSTRUCT 2015 here in St. Louis. We certainly loved

having you . Those of you who stopped by and said hi at the Host Chapter Table, bought

commemorative shirts, played golf, helped George Everding become a Fellow, and par-

tied with us at the City Museum have given us so many terrific memories. Thanks to eve-

ryone who joined us and who helped us make it a great success.

In this issue we get back to a little business, doing what we do when we aren’t

hosting a national convention. Read within for information about November’s education

program, meet one of our new directors, and see some great photos from last month’s

event. And check out our upcoming events calendar for the latest about our holiday gala ,

our ever-popular Procrastinator’s Ball, and the spring New Products Show.

THE SPECTATOR and the Communications Committee are specifically looking for a

Committee Co-Chair and content wrangler. Wouldn’t it be great if you had a direct

monthly pipeline for your educational and informational content directly to the brains of

St. Louis’ premier specifiers and designers?

And wouldn’t it be great if you could help other CSI members reach those same deci-

sion-makers (yes, you’d have to help your competitors occasionally, but that’s a small

price to pay, right?)? The SPECTATOR needs your help in soliciting and coordinating quali-

ty content for our monthly newsletter. This is a limited commitment for this year only

(thru May 2016) and requires only that you help our Committee Chair Ginny Powell and

contact industry experts to obtain a page or two of quality content for each upcoming

SPECTATOR. You won’t be creating the newsletter, just helping to fill it.

Best wishes,

Code authorities, architects, manufacturers, insurers, building owners, and con-tractors rely on Underwriter’s Laboratories (UL) to certify the materials and equipment used in rated assemblies and systems. This essential service to the construction industry enhances public safety, meets regulatory requirements, and assures that all entities comply with their contractual obligations.

On November 18, the Greater St. Louis Chapter of the Construction Specification Institute (CSI) will present “UL Verification,” a unique opportunity to learn more about UL first hand from Alfredo Ramirez, UL’s manager of Regulatory Service. The seminar reveals what is required for UL certification, and shows how to effec-tively access the vast online database of UL knowledge.

Join us at the Engineers Club, 4359 Lindell Blvd., starting at 5:30 PM. The program

including dinner is free to CSI members and $20 for all others. Improve your ex-

pertise and get the technical support you need to provide your clients with safe,

sustainable, and code-compliant designs.

REGISTER at stlouiscsi.org or call 636-447-1357.
