Welcome to ISA Sport 2014-2015I am writing this as the Commonwealth Games begin in Glasgow and we are treated to a number of different sports being contested by young people wanting to do their best. The range of sports becoming available to pupils in ISA schools continues to grow too and I am delighted that so many opportunities exist for our youngsters to be involved in top quality sport at school, area and national level. During the last school year there have been 16 National events organised including two Triathlons, Tennis and Basketball. The Triathlons, in particular, have really struck a chord with schools; 200 pupils turned up at Lucton School for the Midlands competition. This figure is sure to grow as sports featuring heavily in Olympic and Commonwealth competition gain a wider, younger audience. In the coming year, we will be organising 24 National events including more new events; a Sailing Festival, Indoor Skiing Championships, Clay Pigeon Shooting and Rounders.
Over the last 25 years, Gwilym Price has looked after the development of ISA Sport and to a very large extent, what we enjoy in 2014 is down to his vision to create the best sporting programme possible, yet allowing as much accessibility as possible. ISA is a tall organisation and the only one that offers the range of sports to the widest age range. Gwilym’s philosophy that the pupil is at the centre of everything we do has remained steadfastly constant. Many pupils have gained an enormous amount by taking part in all levels of sporting participation, but taking part and having fun remain the primary aims. Gwilym retired from ISA at the end of the last school year after being awarded his wholly deserved MBE for services to school sport. We shall all miss Gwilym’s passion and drive, but wish him all the best for a happy and long retirement. I have no doubt he will not be far away and keeping in touch with the continued success of ISA Sport. It is, however, my pleasure to welcome Paul Dimmock to the Association as our new Director of Sport. Paul has most recently been Director of Sport at Brunel University. He is a former GB canoeist competing in over 50 Internationals and is currently a consultant coach to Team GB. We wish him well in his new position.
Fran Hide is becoming well known to many of you as the National Sports Assistant. She has been performing a superb job in organising our sport and creating social media to follow ISA sport. I encourage you and your sport staff to follow ISA on Twitter: @ISASportUK. Fran also created a sports survey earlier in the year which enjoyed a positive response from members. There have been subsequently seven recommendations incorporated into the Sports Development Plan, one of which involves the planning of an ISA sports conference in the New Year. I hope your staff will be able to attend this new event in the ISA Professional Development calendar.
ISA Sport is entering a new phase in its development and I hope that your school will be able to engage with at least one event during the following year. May I wish you all good luck and a successful school year.

Our survey says…Over twO thirds Of teachers wOrry they wOn’t have enOugh incOme after retirement*
The current environment of change and uncertainty is creating an increasing need for school staff of all ages to find out more about their occupational pension scheme benefits and give due consideration to their future financial plans.
In our recent survey:
} 67% of teachers worry they won’t have enough income to live comfortably after retirement, but also don’t know exactly what income they really need.
} Despite these concerns, a quarter of teachers aren’t making any additional savings to boost their retirement income.
} Over two thirds accept they have a limited knowledge and understanding of their current pension scheme.
Wesleyan provide workplace presentations that are designed to provide staff with a good understanding of the key features and benefits of their occupational pension scheme, and include a Q&A opportunity.
Let Wesleyan alleviate any of these concerns. Our visits to schools are FREE and we can provide our sessions to fit with school timetables and staff availability, but typically provide a one hour presentation plus a Q&A session during INSET days, or staff meetings.

EcoPure Waters, philosophy is to provide the very best in water purification
systems and customer care that together deliver excellent value for
money while helping you contribute to a more sustainable environment.
In house filtration meets the demand of today,s consumers for
environmentally sound yet quality drinking water, while for our customers
it restores revenue lost from the move away from expensive bottled
water to profitless tap water. A still and sparkling water system can
be designed and fully installed, with free bottles, dishwasher trays and
carry-crates, for around £5 a day (including regular servicing and full
parts replacement cover).
