Dear Zoning Board of Adjustment:
I am the president of the Fishtown Neighbors Association. I also
live at2333 E Boston Street, and my law office is located about a
block away on
York Street. This project directly impacts my home, my office,
and is locat-ed within the boundaries of the Fishtown Neighbors
Association. As youmight imagine, the proposal is important to me
on many levels.
I write this letter to express my firm support for granting the
requested
variance.
2365 E York Street has long been a nuisance in my back yard. It
was for-merly a shop used to fix illegal mopeds. The mopeds leaving
the premises
were loud and constantly interrupted my law practice. Further,
one of thetenants was arrested in connection with heroine. Needless
to say, this hasbeen a nuisance property in Fishtown and Olde
Richmond for far too long,and a constant source of anguish for me
and my neighbors.
Given the history, I was delighted to learn that the folks fom
PhiladelphiaScooters plan to buy the premises and turn it into a
scooter store. Phil-
adelphia Scooters are known as responsible and well respected
businessowners. They have successfully operated a scooter store for
over ten years inSouth Philadelphia. Their civic association even
wrote a letter attesting totheir impeccable reputation as
neighbors. Aer meeting with them at theRCO community meeting,I am
more confident than ever that PhiladelphiaScooters will be
excellent neighbors.

Furthermore, York Street is developing into a bustling
commercial corridorhere in Fishtown. Some of the businesses on York
Street include 2424 Stu-
dios (where my office is), Planet Fitness, Coffee House Too,
Mugshot Din-er, York Street Dry Cleaners, Key Pizza, Jovans
Restaurant, and SalonBlush. A pizza parlor is currently being built
next to my office. Much of thisdevelopment is new, and has
significantly increased the quality of living on
York Street and the surrounding area. Philadelphia Scooters is
consistentwith the current economic development on York Street.
It would be a travesty to deny Philadelphia Scooters their
variance, and letthe property continue to dilapidate. As someone
who lives less than a blockfom the property, with a vested interest
in seeing Fishtown developed sen-sibly, I strenuously urge you to
grant Philadelphia Scooters their variance.
