WELCOMEWork Rating. On a scale of 1 to 10, with highest 10, how do you rate your work today? Why?

    WORDGenesis 39:2-3

The Lord was with Joseph, so he became a successful man. And he was in the house of his master, the Egyptian. Now his master saw that the Lord was with him and how the Lord caused all that he did to prosper in his hand.

When a tooth paste is squeezed what comes out is

whats inside. When you are squeezed by trials

and sufferings, what comes out is the real you.

The workplace is often used to squeeze us to test

our character. Lets learn from the experience of

Joseph in the workplace in Genesis 39.

    Fix your eyes on Jesus

Joseph was sold as a slave to Potiphar in Egypt.

Once upon a time, he was the favored son in the

family, but his brothers betrayed him. He didnt do

anything bad to anyone, but he landed in a job he

did not apply for, with a boss he didnt know, and

in a place he didnt choose to be in. He had all thereason to grumble and complain but he didnt.

Instead he walked by faith and focused on God.

As Joseph fixed his eyes on God, so we must fix our

eyes on Jesus (Hebrews 12:2). If we focus on

people we will be disappointed; on circumstances,

we will be discouraged; on ourselves, we will be

depressed. Sooner or later our parents, our

leaders, children, loved ones and other people will

    disappoint us.

Wherever you are right now, focus on Jesus, the

Author and Perfecter of your faith. You do notknow at what chapter of your life you are in now,

but God knows. God sees the big picture from

beginning to end. The Bible tells us we have an

amazing destiny in Jesus; we are destined to be

princes and princesses when Jesus comes again. So

focus on God -the Writer of your life story.

    Gods Blueprint for Success

Success is doing Gods will for your life. It does not

always mean having money or power. When you

meditate on Gods Word day and night you will be

successful (Joshua 1:8). Gods blue print for living

is the Bible, so study the Scriptures and know how

it is to be successful according to Gods terms.

Joseph was a slave but he was successful because

the Lord was with him (Genesis 39:2). Because he

prospered in everything, his master saw the

presence of God in his life (v.3).

Like Joseph, work in such a way that you become

an MVP Most Valuable Performer for your

excellent job, quality output, service commitment,

diligence, work ethics, competence and character.

Work so well that people can see God in your life

and your boss couldnt let you go because the

    company needs you.

    The Theology of Work

Work is not a curse; it is created by God even

before the fall of man. God appointed man to

cultivate the Garden (Genesis 2:15). God created

the workplace for us so that He can manifest His

glory. God designed us to be so unique in the

workplace that we become witnesses of Christ.

Work hard and do your best. Do everything

wholeheartedly as for the Lord. No such thing as

secular and sacred work. Whatever you do issacred when you do it unto the Lord (Colossians

    3:22-23).

The reality of work is we spend 80% of our

waking hours at the workplace. If you are not

treating your work as sacred, you are missing the

greatest opportunity to be the salt and light of the

world. Do not cheat on time in the workplace. Be

excited to work. Your work is Gods blessing.
