2014 promises to be an exciting year for the Sydney Youth Orchestra and we invite you to join us and be inspired by
this vibrant ensemble. Following our 40th Anniversary in 2013 and the resounding success of our young musicians’ performances of works including Mahler’s Symphony No.6, Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring and other landmark repertoire, we look forward to building on this strength and continuing our role as a vital part of the artistic life of Sydney.
The Sydney Youth Orchestra is the premier training organisation for aspiring musicians in Sydney. Drawing members from leading teachers and training institutions, our musicians competitively audition each year. It is a hub for emerging artists, creating links with the profession and forging a pathway to a career in music. Our musicians perform with an infectious
enthusiasm which will delight audiences and draw you in to discover major works with a fresh perspective.
We are committed to the support of new creative work and proudly include pieces by emerging and established Australian composers, all of which are world premieres in our season.
Our concerts will be performed in a range of venues featuring guest artists Avan Yu, the winner of the 2012 Sydney International Piano Competition, Simon Tedeschi and Sydney Philharmonia Choirs. There is something for everyone.
Come and join us in 2014, be immersed in the energy of Sydney’s leading youth orchestra and hear the stars of tomorrow.
