You Have Brought Life

Because Seeing Is Believing

A Report to Partners

The fruit of your giving

We all remember the devastating earthquake in2010 that took so many Haitian lives.

A number of government, humanitarian and UNorganizations responded heroically. We are grateful forall they did. But within a matter of months, most groupsleft the country…their jobs complete after providingimmediate relief.

Because of you, JESUS Film teams were there too…but

before, during and after the earthquake. And they arestill at work, bringing real life in Christ to people.

As you may recall, JESUS Film teams were very active, lending a hand, giving out aid, helping to dig fresh waterwells, distributing tents, blankets, food and medicine. Inthose daylight hours, they were true servants, living outthe love of Christ. Then in the evening, they showed thepeople “JESUS,” the reason for their love. For thosesteeped in Voodoo, the message was very powerful.

…Real Life to HaitiOne huge camp where the teams served is the largesttent city in the country. In that camp, and for severalmonths following the tragedy, JESUS Film teams gaveout aid and then showed “JESUS” three times per week, often to crowds of hundreds and thousands.

Today, in the center of this huge camp there is a growingchurch of 500 members, nearly all of whom were won toChrist through the teams and “JESUS.” In fact, the pastor ofthe church is also the director of The JESUS Film in Haiti.

By the time you receive this report a team will be constructing a permanent church building for the 500plus believers.

For those who cannot travel to the main church due todistance, JESUS Film team members conduct severalweekly follow-up groups and home church services inlocal home tents and huts.

Much of this has happened because of aid, “JESUS,” filmteams, and you. Thank you for sustaining their work, forinterceding for the people and the Haitian JESUS Film teams.

Take a Trip…Witness God Work

Tom and Donna McMurry are long-time partners of The JESUS Film

Project. They are well traveled, havingbeen on 19 “business as missions”trips. They have helped train andencourage hundreds of nationals tobegin their own micro-enterprises,sustaining them so they can share thegospel—in countries where westernmissionaries cannot work.

Tom: “We love ‘business as missions’but we’ve also supported the ‘JESUS’film for many years because it takesthe Good News to places we couldnever go. We had never been on amissions trip to see the JESUS Filmministry [in action]. So when theopportunity presented itself to comealong and help show ‘JESUS’ films tothe Mayans, we gladly went.”

Donna: “The best part was watchingthe reaction of the people to ‘JESUS’and also during the presentationwhen people were asked to make adecision. Tom and I spent anafternoon with the team going fromhome-to-home, passing outliterature, inviting people to

attend a showing that night. It turnedout to be an unusually chilly evening, but when the sun went down about300 people gathered in the towncenter to see ’The Story of Jesus forChildren’ in Mayan, on a screen tied totwo poles. When the film ended, about250 men, women and children cameforward to receive prayer and givetheir contact information to befollowed up.

“I especially remember an 80-year-oldwoman who was watching‘Magdalena’ in Mayan on an iPad whilewe were setting up. Like most of theMayan, she had never seen a film beforein her ‘heart language.’ She and otherladies around her were captivated bythe story. The trip really impacted us.”

Tom: “Our bus driver was watching themovie, sitting in the driver seat somedistance away. When the team gavethe invitation, he jumped from his seat

and ran to join thegroup who were

coming toChrist.

“We are so glad we went andencourage anyone who is a partner of‘JESUS’ to go. They are very wellorganized, informative, enjoyable, inspirational and safe. Both adults, and sometimes their children, shouldgo on these trips. Your eyes will beopened. We often refer ‘JESUS’ to ourfriends. We know the history and theleadership. The JESUS Film Project is asolid investment for anyone’s time andmoney, and makes an eternal impact. We’re blessed to have a part.”

There is hope in the midst ofdarkness. People in several

African nations have sufferedgreatly from civil wars, politicalunrest, persecution and ethniccleansing.

In one country, 1 million refugeeshave fled into an extensive mountainrange for safety. Most were followersof an aggressive religion from thenorth. But through suffering, theirminds and hearts have been openedto new perspectives…to hope, loveand truth.

To start reaching those 1 millionpeople with the gospel, a group ofpastors (refugees themselves)began using a single “Give ThemLife” backpack set, provided by ministry partner, Christ for All Peoples. The team isbased in a large refugee camp next to the mountains.

Pastor Ginga (a pseudo-name), who leads the effort, sent this report: “Warm greetings from {the mountains} in the matchlessname of our Lord Jesus Christ. I am here reporting on the JESUS Film ministry from July to September of 2013.

“Since we received {the equipment} and the ‘JESUS’ film, I went back into the mountains. I formed a team to help me work.We have shown ‘JESUS’ 38 times in 23 locations. The number of people who have come to faith as a result are 684 men andwomen, {that we know of}. The majority were not Christian {being from another tradition}. Nearly 18,000 people have nowwatched the film.

“Also, I would like to request of The JESUS Film Project another backpack. The equipment is very effective. Our team isgrowing in numbers and zeal. In the very near future we want to send out another ‘JESUS’ film team into

the mountains.

“I want to express our appreciation to everyone for giving us this tool, so we can evangelize ourcommunities in the mountains. This equipment and ‘JESUS’ are changing lives. Tell all the peoplewho have given, thank you!”

Pastor Ginga, we thank you and your team for your dedication. And, our thanks to all whoprovide this equipment. Please pray for the people of the mountains, as they continue to sufferair attacks in the ongoing civil war. Pray that thousands of hearts will be

open through “JESUS.” ■

We are moved at the many creative ways partnersof “JESUS” use their talents and skills to help win

the world to Christ.

Ron and Susan farm 2,000 acres in South Dakota, raisingcorn and soy beans. Susan drives their combine (seenbelow right). Ron collects and then delivers the crops bytruck (below left) to a local grain elevator.

They work all 2,000 acres alone as a couple, relying ontheir equipment and “dry farming” (without irrigation). When there is meager rain or it comes at the wrongtime, there is little or no harvest. But when the land doesproduce, they deliver their crops to the grain elevator, transferring a portion of the ownership directly to TheJESUS Film Project. Staff members then work through abroker to sell the donated portion on the open market, using the funds to bring people the gospel.

Ron: “The thing that is most important to us is that thewhole world knows Jesus Christ as Savior. We want asmany people as possible to hear and respond. God hasblessed us with this farm. We don’t want any glory for whatwe do. We just want to give back. Susan and I see the ‘JESUS’film as the most effective way to reachpeople. We are also monthly partners, and donate the

crops when they come in. These are ways we can have a part.”

Thank you Ron and Susan, for your hearts that give. If anyother ministry partners raise crops or manage commoditiesor securities, please consider giving a portion of your harvestto the Lord. If you transfer commodities before you see theincome, there may be excellent tax advantages. To learnabout these potential tax savings please visitwww.jesusfilm.org/donate/planned-giving. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the release of“JESUS,” the vision of Dr. Bill Bright. To reach millions

similar eras, including “The Ten Commandments.”

A new symphonic musical score has beenadded, transforming the feel and ambience of“JESUS” to a new level, enhancing the emotionalimpact of the message. The Blu-ray release willinclude an added documentary, “Impact of TheJESUS Film,” demonstrating the power of thegospel.
