VAN EGMOND HOUSE/FOUNDATION, was built by Constant Van Egmond and his wife Ann Johnston. This Georgian manor is one of

the oldest houses in Huron County, and served as the nucleus for the growth of the Village of Egmondville.The Van Egmond family played a fundamental role in the opening of the Huron Tract, a one-million acre parcel of land owned by the Canada Company. Colonel Van Egmond was involved with the

government to the area. He died untried in the Don jail, Toronto.

Today, the Van Egmond House is preserved to its original splendour to provide a glimpse of life in the mid-nineteenth century. The House

PARK

ST. JOSEPH MEMORIAL PARK, and Historical Walkway tell the history of St. Joseph

Park began with a request from St. André, known healer and founder of the famed Oratory of St. Joseph in Montreal. He requested that a statue honouring St. Joseph be placed in the Park. It was the early 1900’s when he took a metal pipe and pounded it into the ground where the statue now stands. The statue was placed in the Park in 1972. In August of 2011, a statue
