Mercedes-Benz in Canada. The year was 1954. The legendary 300 SL Gullwing Coupe was introduced to the world. And Mercedes-Benz automobiles made their first appearance at the Canadian National Exhibition in Toronto.
The following year, stores were opened in Toronto and Montreal.
Since then, we have grown into a network of over 50 retail dealers across the country.
Mercedes-Benz is committed to Canada. And we continue to make large-scale investments in automotive technology, such as our F-Cell plant in British Columbia, the world’s first facility dedicated to the development and production of fuel cell stacks.
Mercedes-Benz will always be a leader in innovation and set the standard for a true evolution of excellence. Canadians can continue to expect vehicles that embody the perfect balance of automotive intelligence and enthusiastic passion.

It’s always time for 4MATIC.™
The 4MATIC™ permanent all-wheel drive system delivers optimal traction regardless of the road conditions. Incorporating the 4-wheel Electronic Traction System (4ETS), 4MATIC™ monitors each wheel for slippage and individually brakes each wheel where needed to maintain the balance of power. By continuously ensuring that power is transferred to the wheels with grip, 4MATIC™ will ensure mobility, even if only one wheel has traction.
Visit 4matic.ca to learn more about 4MATIC™ permanent all-wheel drive technology. While there, sign up for 4MATIC™ eAlerts, to receive informative tips, interesting tales of traction and stability, detailed weather reports and all the latest 4MATIC™ news.
Electronic Stability Program (ESP®)1
§ To help eliminate plowing or fishtailing in a
turn, ESP® responds to help keep you on
course. Sensors monitor your braking and
steering input and upon detecting deviation
from your intended path, ESP® corrects
for oversteer and understeer by applying
individual brakes and/or reducing excess
engine power.
Active Body Control (ABC)1
§ The most advanced active suspension
on the market, ABC allows you a driving
experience you simply cannot find
elsewhere. ABC uses a system of sensors
and electronically controlled high-pressure
hydraulics to instantly counteract the
forces of vibration, pitch, dive, squat
and roll. Self-levelling ABC even lets you
raise the ride height for added clearance
on rutted roads or in deep snow.
Multilink suspensions and ADS II adaptive damping1
§ For legendary control, nearly every Mercedes-Benz enjoys 4-wheel
multilink suspension featuring anti-dive geometry for exceptional poise,
even under severe braking. The rear multilink design - a Mercedes-Benz
innovation - controls rear-wheel movement with outstanding precision.
Part of our AIRMATIC air suspension, the Adaptive Damping System
(ADS II) lets you tailor your driving experience with three selectable
suspension modes and continually optimizes ride and handling by
individually adjusting each wheel’s shock absorber every time the
wheel changes its direction of up/down travel.
1No system, regardless of how advanced, can overcome the laws of physics or correct careless driving. Please always wear your seatbelt.

The features listed above may be optional or not available on some Mercedes-Benz models. Please see your dealer for details and availability.
PRE-SAFE® PLUS
Many accidents can be avoided through timely warnings. This is
why in an impeding rear-end collision, PRE-SAFE® PLuS gives
a clear signal: prior to an imminent collision, the rear hazard
warning lights are activated at a higher frequency than normal,
thereby attracting the attention of drivers of the vehicles following
behind by flashing at an increased frequency.
In the event of a sustained risk of collision PRE-SAFE®
protective measures are activated – including emergency braking,
vehicle over/under steer or automatic belt tensioning to
significantly reduce the risk of whiplash injuries for the occupants.
Collision Prevention Assist
COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST helps to reduce the risk of
a rear end collision within a speed range of 30 to 250 km/h.
utilizing sophisticated radar technology, an audible and visual
warning will alert the driver as to the risk of an impending rear
end collision in sufficient time for the driver to take evasive
action. Integrated into Collision Prevention Assist, Adaptive
Brake Assist will boost braking power to the appropriate levels
regardless of the pressure applied by the driver ensuring the
available braking distance is used to maximum effect.
ATTENTION ASSIST
ATTENTION ASSIST continuously analyzes driving behaviour
and steering movements. If the system detects certain steering
patterns that frequently accompany drowsiness, it warns the
driver visually by displaying the "coffee cup" symbol in the
instrument cluster at the same time as emitting audible signals.
ATTENTION ASSIST is now active at a wider speed range from
60 – 200 km/h. The system's sensitivity can also be adjusted,
e.g. for drivers who already feel tired when they get behind
the wheel. A new information page in the instrument cluster
display shows the driver’s current attention level, system
status and driving time since last break.
ATTENTION ASSIST also interacts with the vehicle’s
navigation system to display nearby service centres in addition
to the drowsiness warning.
PRE-SAFE® Brake with Pedestrian Detection
A stereo camera and system of long-, medium- and short-range
radar monitors the area in front of the vehicle. Data is used to
calculate if there is a risk of collision. If such a risk is identified,
a system of audio and visual warnings is initiated. Whether the
driver brakes or not, Brake Assist ensures that the optimal
brake pressure is applied, helping prevent collisions with
people at speeds over 50 km/h.
Active Blind Spot Assist
Combining safety and comfort, Active Blind Spot
Assist provides a visual and audible warning should
an unsafe lane change be detected. If the driver fails
to respond, the steering wheel will vibrate and the
opposite side brakes will engage drawing the vehicle
back into its lane and avoiding the risk of collision.
Active Lane Keeping Assist
To ensure a smooth and consistent ride and to combat
distraction, Active Lane Keeping Assist will gently vibrate
the steering wheel and engage the brakes to bring the
vehicle back into the appropriate lane if wandering is
detected. A camera on the inset of the front windscreen
constantly monitors the road ahead and can quickly
identify unintentional lane changes and automatically
bring the vehicle back into its designated lane should the
driver fail to respond to an audible and visual warning.
Safety should never be left to chance.

E-Class Sedan and WagonA forceful exterior with optional AMG Styling Package declares the 2014 E-Class Sedan an achievement in design while the comfort, safety and high utility value of the 2014 E-Class Wagon provide a tasteful unique character. The technological achievements of both the Sedan and Wagon – distance-maintaining DISTRONIC PLuS, or fatigue-sensing ATTENTION ASSIST, for example – declare both models the quintessential Mercedes-Benz. The high levels of comfort and safety are the result of many decades of development work at Mercedes-Benz. yet the end result is something utterly unique: the E-Class Sedan and Wagon.
