  • REPUBLICAN PRIMARY VOTER GUIDE

The Jefferson County Tea Party sponsored Republican primary debates July 10th and 17th. Both candidates from County Council District 3 and State Rep District 113 were invited. In today's political environment, Republican candidates should relish the opportunity to debate issues without the filter of a bias and corrupt media. But sadly that's not the case. Two of the candidates, one from each race chose not to participate in the debates. We hope you take this into consideration when casting your vote. Video of the debates and the candidates that did participate are available at www.jeffcoteaparty.com. The videos are time coded by question, which means you can skip forward to a particular question without viewing the entire video. We graded the candidates based on the debates, voting record, and other information available to the public.

    County Council District 3

Bob Boyer Debate: Participated Tea Party Grade: A- Since being elected to the Council in 2010 Bob has been one of the few representatives that has stuck to his principles, and his voting record is proof. He introduced a bill to amend the Charter and institute term limits and non-partisan elections for the County Executive and council, which sadly was rejected by four other Republicans and the lone Democrat. When property tax revenues came in below expectations, instead of increasing our taxes Bob advocated for, and got spending cuts instead. He introduced an ordinance amending the traffic code which made red-light and speed cameras illegal in unincorporated Jefferson County. He has led the fight to stop compliance checkpoints for the sole purpose of checking registration, warrants, safety, and seat belt violations. He favors DWI checkpoints. These are just a few issues we took into consideration when deciding his grade. Top 2 monetary donors to Mr. Boyer's campaign: $790 Bob Boyer, $200 Friends of Shaul Phil Hendrickson Debate: Declined to participate Tea Party Grade: (I)Incomplete Since he declined to participate in the debate forum we know nothing about Mr. Hendrickson. His sign slogan is "Common sense in the county". We would like to ask Mr. Hendrickson what issues he is referring to, and what are his solutions? When discussing politics, common sense can be very subjective. Top 2 monetary donors to Mr. Hendrickson's campaign: $300 Sheila Hendrickson, $300 Eula Hendrickson

Dan Shaul Debate: Participated Tea Party Grade: B The debates were the first opportunity to meet Mr. Shaul, and most came away impressed with how he handled the questions. Although we may disagree on a couple of issues, we respect anyone that has the courage to stick with their convictions, rather than tell everyone what they want to hear. Dan is currently a member of the Windsor school board and has been endorsed by Missouri Right to Life and the National Rifle Association. Top 2 monetary donors to Mr. Shaul's campaign: $500 Anheuser Busch Companies, $500 National Grocers Association Jason Fulbright Debate: Declined to participate Tea Party Grade: D After researching Mr. Fulbright's voting record as a member of the Arnold Council, our first question had he attended the debates would have been, why are you running as a Republican? He has consistently voted for more spending and regulation during his tenure on the council. Did you read about the latest fleecing of taxpayer money he voted for ? $100,000 of your money will be used to subsidize office space for businesses. Is that something you want your hard earned tax money to be spent on? Mr. Fulbright seems to be more interested in having an ordinance titled with his name for publicity purposes rather than looking out for his constituents pocket books. He has remained silent about the unethical behavior by the police chief, among other malfeasance that continue to plague the City of Arnold. Researching a candidates donations will often give valuable insight about the person and who they will side with on important issues. You can view all candidates donations at www.mec.mo.gov. We encourage you to research who is financially supporting Jason Fulbright. And again ask yourself, why is he running as a Republican? Top 2 monetary donors to Mr. Fulbright's campaign: $500 Deb Amato (wife of Phil Amato), Laborers Local 110 $1,000
