Register for October or November SAT Reasoning Test or ACT, and SAT Subject Test, if

needed. (check individual colleges for last possible test date)

Finalize list of colleges. Reduce list to 7- 10 schools. Review each college's requirements for

admission.

Plan visits and interviews to colleges while they are in session (send thank you notes).

Finish all rough draft applications and essays. Have someone proofread.

Regarding Private Colleges, give all recommendations and secondary school evaluation forms

to teachers and counselor to fill out including mid-year reports. Check due dates!

Apply to "choice colleges." Make sure you have all the necessary paperwork turned in.

Observe deadlines. Send transcripts and test scores if requested.

Keep your grades up. Colleges do look at semester and year end grades.

Investigate scholarship options n Counseling Center and on the internet.

Eligibility for admission to the C

schools is dependent upon three factors:

High school grade point of 3.0 or better in the A - G classes with no grade lower than a

C.

Take the ACT with writing or the SAT Reasoning test.

Complete 15 college prep classes (a -g courses), with at least 11 fmished by the end of the junior year.

At a minimum a student must take:

UC Comprehensive Review

Factors UC schools consider:

1.

Academic grade point average in all completed "a-9" courses, including additional points for

comp leted UC-certified honors courses.

2. Scores on the ACT with Writing or Si

Reasoning Test. (SAT Subject Tests are not required

but are recommended by some majors on some campuses .)

3. Number of, content of and performance in acad emic courses beyond the minimum "a-g"

requirements.

4. Number of and performance in UC-approved honors and Adva nced Placement courses.

5. Identification by UC as being ranked in the top 9 percent of your high school class at the end

of junior year ("Eligible in the Local Conte xt," or ELC)

6. Qual ity of your senior -year program, as measured by the type and number of academic

courses in progress or planned.

7. Quality of your academic performance relative to the educational opportunities available in

your high school.

8. Outstanding performance in one or more academic subject areas.

9. Outstanding work in one or more special projects in any academic field of study.

10. Recent , marked improvement in academic performance, as demonstrated by academic GPA

and the quality of coursework comple ted or in progress.
