2014 GUT CHECK CHALLENGE The Washington State Wrestling Foundation (WSWF) is a new non-profit and our purpose is to promote and raise funds for college wrestling in Washington state. Our first event will be a high school tournament: “The Gut Check Challenge”. It will be held January 11 th at Olympia HS and the proceeds will be shared between the Olympia Wrestling Club and the WSWF. Seventeen full teams have been invited and “wildcards” from other schools will be allowed to enter if they are previous state placers/participants and /or they are excelling this season. This will be a one-day, 16-man bracketed tourney. Top six placers will earn awards. Semi-final losers will wrestle for 3 rd and there will be a tie for 5 th . Championship cups will be awarded to the top 4 teams. Each weight champ will receive a title belt: TEAMS : Olympia, Tumwater, Timberline, Union, Forks, Kingston, Issaquah, Sumner, Liberty Bell, Edmonds-Woodway, Yelm, Granger, Moses Lake, Peninsula, Orting, East Valley-Spokane, British Columbia All-Stars* *The British Columbia All-Stars will consist of their provincial champs at each weight. Many of them are Canadian national champions.
