The 2014 Funders Together to End Homelessness Funders Institute is an inspiring and unique event designed to bring

funders from across the country together to engage in discourse about catalytic, outcomes-focused philanthropy and

funders’ roles in systems change. It is planned, produced, and promoted in partnership with Funders Together members

and in conjunction with the National Alliance to End Homelessness 2014 National Conference on Ending Homelessness.

Our funder-focused event is open to foundations, United Ways, individual grantmakers and invited guests, including issue-

area experts and government partners. The 2013 Funders Institute, sponsored by the Bank of America Charitable

Foundation, Melville Charitable Trust, and Miami Coalition for the Homeless, brought together 88 attendees from 19 U.S.

states and Canada and Great Britain. 70% of attendees were from grantmaking organizations and 30% were government

funders and issue experts. This year, the Funders Institute will begin with a keynote speaker and morning session,

followed by lunch and issue-focused table talks, and capped off with an evening networking reception.

Funders who attend the National Alliance to End Homelessness 2014 National Conference on Ending Homelessness will

find a wealth of information and presentations relevant to their work by following the Funders Track, a workshop track

designed specifically for grantmakers. In 2013, Funders Together partnered with the Bank of America Charitable

Foundation to sponsor the Funders Track and encourage foundations and United Ways to participate in the Alliance’s

national conference, an annual 3-day event that brings together 1,600 people including advocates, providers, government,

and private funders.

This track offers a wide range of content geared towards beginners and experts alike. Workshops cover all homeless

populations and provide information on strategies and tools integral to a systems level approach to preventing and

ending homelessness. Speakers and content are applicable to funders of all sizes operating on a national and local level.

Previous Funders Track panelists include Funders Together Executive Director Anne Miskey, and Funders Together

members from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, The Paul and Phyllis Fireman Charitable Foundation, Raikes

Foundation, Sisters of Charity Foundation of Cleveland, United Way of Greater Los Angeles, and United Way of Forsyth

County.
