Introduction
PRODUCT HISTORYThe Ford Special Vehicle Team (SVT) wasestablished in 1991 to polish the Ford Ovalby creating low-volume, factory-producedvehicles designed for those select fewwhose idea of driving is a high-powered,passionate experience – not just a meansof getting from point A to point B.In a move to support this spiritedenthusiasm, Ford Motor Company carefullyintegrated the wide array of talent in thecompany into a small, cross-functionalgroup of engineers and product planners, housed together under one roof with acommon mission: to create vehiclesspecifically designed to meet the uniqueneeds and desires of the knowledgeabledriving enthusiast.Nearly 200000 SVT vehicles have beenproduced since the 1993 model year. Theseinclude the SVT Mustang Cobra and theCobra R, the SVT F-150 Lightning, the SVTContour, the SVT Focus, Ford GT, ShelbyGT500, GT500KR and the F-150 SVTRaptor.
TEAM RS HISTORYTeamRS traces its roots back nearly 60years from the Lotus Ford Cortina and TwinCam Escorts of the mid 1960’s, throughthe first RS branded Escorts of the 1970’sto the founding of Special VehicleEngineering (SVE) in 1980. Through the1980s and 90s, SVE delivered a breadthof vehicles from exciting XR and RSbranded road going performance carsthrough homologation specials such asthe iconic Sierra Cosworth RS500. The firstST (Sport Technology) vehicle appearedin 1996 as the ST24 Mondeo. The firstcollaboration between Ford’s Europeanand North American performance teamsappeared in 2002 as the ST170 in Europeand SVT Focus in North America. In 2003,
TeamRS replaced SVE in Europe asperformance car and motorsport personnelwere brought together as one team.TeamRS subsequently created the 2004Fiesta ST, 2005 Focus ST and 2009 FocusRS.
GLOBAL PERFORMANCEVEHICLESThe Global Performance Vehicle groupwas formally established in 2009, joiningthe performance product developmentexcellence and heritage of SVT in NorthAmerica and TeamRS in Europe. The FiestaST is the second vehicle to emerge fromthis group and represents the best of whatFord performance has to offer from aroundthe globe. Your ST vehicle has beendesigned and developed with the fourhallmarks of the Ford Global PerformanceGroup in mind: Performance, Substance,Exclusivity and Value. We are proud andpassionate about what we do, and we areglad you have made us your choice.

Stability Control (If Equipped)
Enhanced Torque VectoringControlEnhanced torque vectoring control iscomprised of two elements:• Torque vectoring control which applies
brake torque on the inner wheel in acurve for better traction and lessundersteer
• Cornering understeer control whichcontrols the yaw response of thevehicle under braking and accelerationon high and low friction surfaces.
No action is required to activate torquevectoring control. It operates automaticallydue to vehicle operating conditions.Unlike electronic stability control, enhanced torque vectoring control doesnot slow the vehicle but does help controlexcessive wheel slip and gives the vehiclecornering agility. The system only increasesperformance. Because of this, enhancedtorque vectoring control is not disabledwhen the AdvanceTrac system is off.

Stability Control (If Equipped)
BREAKING-INYour vehicle does not need an extensivebreak–in. Try not to drive continuously atthe same speed for the first 1000 miles(1600 kilometers) of new vehicleoperation. Vary your speed frequently inorder to give the moving parts a chance tobreak in.Do not add friction modifier compoundsor special break–in oils since theseadditives may prevent piston ring seating.
GENERAL DRIVING POINTSOperating at High SpeedsYour ST vehicle is capable of high speedsand is equipped with tires rated for thevehicle’s maximum speed. Remember todrive safely, obey all traffic laws and onlyoperate your ST vehicle at high speeds atlocations equipped and designed to do sosafely. Before operating your vehicle athigh speeds:• Verify correct tire pressures. See Tires
(page 20).• Inspect wheels and tires for wear and
damage. Replace any damaged wheelsor tires.
• Do not operate your vehicle at highspeeds with more than two passengersor while carrying cargo.
Curbs, Parking Lot Obstacles andCommercial Car WashingAs part of its performance tuning package, your ST vehicle has a lower ride height thana standard Fiesta. Because of lower groundclearance, use caution when approachingcurbs, speed bumps or steep drivewayramps. It is recommended to cross speedbumps or driveway curbs slowly and at a45 degree angle to reduce the risk ofvehicle damage. Also, exercise extreme
care if using automated commercial carwashes. Do not drive through car washeswith the vehicle heavily loaded (multiplepassengers or luggage). Use onlycommercial car washes withoutmechanical tracks or hand wash to avoidpotential damage.
ENGINE OVERSPEEDNote: Always wait until the engine isproperly warmed up before running highengine speeds.Your ST vehicle is equipped with anoverspeed feature to increase itsperformance range. The standardmaximum engine speed of 6375 RPM isindicated by a narrow redline on thetachometer face. The redline becomesthicker at the overspeed engine speed of6500 RPM.This feature allows three seconds ofoverspeed above 6375 RPM. Once thethree second limit has been reached, theelectronically controlled rev limit rampsdown to 6375 RPM and holds there. Onceengine speed has dropped below 6175RPM, the overspeed timer is reset andthree seconds of overspeed up to amaximum of 6500 RPM is enabled.Do not operate the engine at high RPM andlow load for sustained periods of time, asdamage may occur.
ENGINE OVERBOOSTYour ST vehicle offers a period ofadditional torque delivery referred to asoverboost or overtorque. This feature ofthe engine calibration broadens the RPMrange of the peak torque curve. This givesimproved performance during maneuverssuch as passing and vehicle launch.
15
Fiesta (CCT)
Driving Hints
Note: The overboost feature controls avariety of engine parameters to deliveradditional torque. Overboost is built into theengine calibration on your ST vehicle andno action is required by the driver to engage.

Maintenance
WHEELSYour ST vehicle is equipped with uniquewheels matched to the tires. These wheelsare more susceptible to damage due totheir diameter, width and low profile tires. To avoid damage to your wheels:• Maintain proper tire pressure.• Exercise caution when using
automated, commercial car washes.Hand washing or using touchlesscommercial car washes withoutmechanical tracks is the best way toavoid potential damage.
• When installing wheels, always torquelug nuts to specification with a torquewrench.
• Inspect your wheels for damage on aregular basis. If a wheel is damaged, replace it immediately.
• If you encounter an abnormally harshimpact, inspect the outer diameter ofyour wheels, both inside and out, fordamage.
TIRESYour ST vehicle is equipped with lowprofile, high performance tires that aredesigned to optimize the driving dynamicsyou expect in an ST vehicle. These tires arenot optimized for off-road or winter (snowor cold weather) performance, and theirride, noise and wear characteristics aredifferent than non-performance tires. Also,
because of their lower profile, the tires aremore susceptible to damage due topotholes and rough roads. To make surethat your tires perform as intended, it isimportant that you maintain your tiresproperly:Note: Do not use tire chains on the originalwheels and tires of your vehicle. The use ofany type of tire chain on these tires maydamage your vehicle.• Do not overload your vehicle. Maximum
vehicle and axle weights are listed onthe tire information placard.
• Take extra caution when operating thevehicle near its maximum load, including assuring proper tire pressureand reducing speeds.
• Take extra caution when operating onrough roads to avoid impacts thatcould cause tire damage.
• If you encounter an abnormally harshimpact, inspect your tires for damage.
• Inspect your tires for damage on aregular basis. If a tire is damaged, replace it immediately.
• Proper suspension alignment is criticalfor maximum performance andoptimal tire wear. If you notice uneventire wear, have your alignment checked.
• When replacing tires, the only way tomaintain original performance is to usethe original equipment tire. If a differentsummer tire is used, it should be thesame size, speed rating and load ratingas the originally equipped tire. Replacetires as a set of four. Never mix tirebrands or models.

Tire Pressure• For tire pressures, see the placard
located on the B-pillar inside thedriver's door.
• Always maintain your tire pressuresaccording to the tire informationplacard on the driver's door jamb, usingan accurate gauge.
• Tire pressures are specified cold. Checkthem after the vehicle has been parkedfor at least three hours. Do not reducepressure of warm tires.
• Check your tire pressure often tomaintain it properly. Tire pressure candiminish over time and fluctuate withtemperature.
Tire Pressure for High Speed UsageIf you are operating your ST vehicle in areasthat allow high-speed driving over 100 mph(161 km/h), increase the tire pressure in allfour tires by 3 psi above the pressureslisted on the Tire Pressure placard locatedon the driver’s side b-pillar.
USING WINTER TIRESThe original equipment tires on your STvehicle are designed for maximumperformance in dry and wet summerconditions. They are not designed forwinter use on ice or snow and cannot beused with snow chains. Ford does notrecommend using the original equipmenttires when temperatures drop toapproximately 40°F (5°C) or below(depending on tire wear and environmentalconditions) or in snow and ice conditions. You must use winter or all-season tires ifyou will be operating your vehicle in theseconditions.• Even with clear, dry driving conditions
do not operate your vehicle aboveposted speed limits or perform highspeed maneuvers with winter tires.
• Do not use tire chains on the originalwheels and tires of your vehicle. Theuse of any type of tire chain on thesetires may damage your vehicle.

Wheel Lug Nut TorqueSpecifications
WARNINGWhen a wheel is installed, alwaysremove any corrosion, dirt or foreignmaterials present on the mounting
surfaces of the wheel or the surface of thewheel hub, brake drum or brake disc thatcontacts the wheel. Make sure that anyfasteners that attach the rotor to the hubare secured so they do not interfere withthe mounting surfaces of the wheel.Installing wheels without correctmetal-to-metal contact at the wheelmounting surfaces can cause the wheelnuts to loosen and the wheel to come offwhile the vehicle is in motion, resulting inloss of control.
Retighten the lug nuts to the specifiedtorque at 500 miles (800 kilometers) afterany wheel disturbance (such as tirerotation, changing a flat tire, wheelremoval).
