The vibrant city of Derry~Londonderry is a must see destination thanks to its historic local attractions, an action packed calendar of events and a unique heritage. Following an exciting and jam packed year as UK City of Culture 2013 the City has big plans to continue the legacy of last year’s success. 2014’s Music City will see the return of many events and the richness and diversity of our music traditions continue throughout the year alongside a wide range of cultural events.

Music City 2014The city of Derry-Londonderry is working to build a new future and 2014 sees it turn its  focus on harnessing the creative energy and spirit of celebration which characterized its momentous 2013 City of Culture year. The programme for 2013 concentrated on many aspects of culture, including a wide range of wonderful musical events which thrilled thousands of locals and visitors alike. Welcome to Music City 2014 - this is the year that the city has designated to build upon the huge public recognition already gained for its exciting young talent and unique musical heritage.  The year kicks off with an outdoor public

celebration of art and music combined to acknowledge the work of everyone who participated in 2013, and from then on a host of events will see us through a jam packed 2014.   Internationally acclaimed Other Voices production returns to the city in February, and featured in the first half of the year is a range of cultural festivals to suit all music types and preferences.  The Pan Celtic Festival, the annual Feis, and the legenderry City of Derry Jazz and Big Band Festival will be followed by a two day Electronic Dance Music Festival at Ebrington Square.  June starts with country favourite Nathan Carter and a 24hr Music City Day, and ends with international music veterans The Beach Boys (during the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race) and one of Europe’s biggest dance music festivals, Celtronic. The richness and diversity of our music traditions continue In July and August with the annual Maiden City’s Festival, Gasyard Wall Feile, Walled City Guitar Festival and the return of the Walled City Tattoo. Watch out in September for the cool vibe of the CultureTech Festival and in October the rich harmonies of the International Choral Festival.

No matter what type of holiday you enjoy Derry~Donegal has got it all; a melting pot of history and heritage, activities and adventure, festivals and events. Whether you are looking for a spring, summer, autumn or winter break the North West region has the best hotel deals to suit every budget!

Visitors can take pleasure in walking Ireland’s only completely walled city and the newly completed £9.5 restoration of the Guildhall, that boasts a new multifaceted tourism experience which provides a central hub for those exploring the city and the famous 17th Century Walls.

Afterwards why not walk along the Peace Bridge which curves majestically across the River Foyle connecting the City Walls to the spectacular redevelopment at Ebrington Square. Or why not call in to one of our many museums and immerse yourself in the city’s quirky history.

One of the unique joys of the region is its blend of urban delight and rural bliss. Just a few minutes from Derry takes you to the stunning landscape of Donegal. Take a drive around its rugged coastline and marvel at endless beaches, medieval castles and natural wildlife. Challenge yourself and try your hand at angling, cycling, hiking or surfing. And let’s not forget some of Ireland’s finest links courses!

One of Europe’s greatest city experiences on the doorstep of a stunningly beautiful natural world, you’re guaranteed a memorable experience thanks to the people, place and culture of this unique region.

The city is a shopper’s paradise with something to suit every taste and pocket. Visit the Foyleside Shopping Centre and The Richmond Shopping Centre for all the best-known high street names or take the time to explore the artisanal shops of the Craft Village which has all the characteristics of a bygone age and is the ultimate refuge of the startled visitors as a whole new world beckons from the margins of the bustling city.  Step back in time and meander in the past and awaken to a shopping experience that fuses the past to a vibrant present.

Welcome to the distinctive delights of the hidden jewel in Derry’s crown, the classic Craft Village.

Derry is also home to Austin’s Department Store – the oldest independent department store in theworld which is renowned not only for their high street fashion but for their impressive range of Irish crystal, giftware and linens. Just as Harrods is associated with London, so Austins is part of our history!
