Proceeds from the tournament go to benefit the Melanoma Research Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Hospital, and local children’s charities in Mexico. The tournament is very excited to share this incredible experience with these soldiers who have sacrificed so much for our country. We will be hosting these heroes in beautiful Puerto Aventuras, Mexico for five days of world class billfishing, golfing, diving, and peaceful relaxation; all expenses paid. We need your help to make this trip for these heroes a reality. The Dave Harris Memorial Billfish Tournament is honored to host seven Wounded Warriors to this year’s Charity Billfish Tournament in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico.

Gabe has been injured twice over the course of his 3 deployments to Iraq. Injured by a grenade explosion on his fi rst deployment and in a helicopter crash 20 miles outside of Baghdad on his third deployment. Gabe has received shrapnel injuries and wounds to his left eye and nasal passages and has been diagnosed with a Mild Traumatic Brain Injury and PTSD.

Gabriel FierrosOn Gabe’s second deployment to Afghanistan he stepped on a 20 lb Improvised Explosive Device on Thanksgiving Day, 2010. He suffered the loss of both of his legs instantly. After the explosion, shrapnel hit all throughout his body, including through his helmet and into his skull, just barely entering the frontal lobe, and causing a traumatic brain injury.

On June 25, 1996 Mark was injured during the Khobar Towers attack in Dhahran Saudi Arabia, a 35,000 lb. truck bomb was detonated on the side of the base killing 19 airmen and injuring over 300. Mark sustained multiple shrapnel wounds and has been diagnosed with PTSD.

Mark BrodaAs a Marine Reservist, Justin volunteered for deployment to Iraq in 2006. While on a routine combat patrol, Justin was shot in the head by a sniper. Although the original prognosis was that he had been killed in action, Justin survived.

Justin ConstantineServing in Iraq from Sept 06’ to Oct 07’ and while doing route clearance and crater repair in Iraq, Travis was hit by multiple IEDs and sustained a Traumatic Brain Injury and has been diagnosed with PTSD.

Travis von SeggernOn August 22, 2005 Arthur was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED); the IED wounded 3 Americans (Arthur was infl icted with a traumatic brain injury (TBI)) and 16 of the Iraqi soldiers - most of who succumbed to the burns they received. Arthur’s TBI has manifested in a non-epileptic seizure, chronic headache disorder, and PTSD.
