This year’s awards – the biggest and most spectacular todate - took place on the 14th November at Plaisterers’ Hall,where award-winning registered companies werepresented with either Bronze, Silver or Gold Awards byJohn Maddock, the National Chair of the NFB.
Only the top performing registered companies monitoredby the Scheme from August 2013 to July 2014 wereselected as award winners, with over 80 accolades handedout to those who have demonstrated exceptional levels ofconsideration towards neighbourhoods and communities,their own workforce and the environment.
The Scheme presented 37 Bronze, 27 Silver and 16 GoldAwards in front of over 300 guests. From the Gold Awardwinners, for the first time ever, two companies were presentedwith the prestigious title of Most Considerate Company.
For their outstanding considerate efforts, Elev8 Interiors Ltdand Kier Services – Sheffield were honoured as theScheme’s Most Considerate Companies of 2014, while Gold Award winners Cranbrook Basements Ltd, Norriskips & Waste Management and Tony G Harris & SonsBuilding Contractors Ltd were also presented with Most Considerate Company Runner-up Awards.
The Scheme would like to congratulate each and everyaward-winning company for their dedication to improvingthe image of construction.

COMPANY
Established in 1994, Elev8 Interiors Ltd is a family-ownedbusiness based in West London, specialising in office andcomputer room fit-outs, building refurbishment, and high-end residential work.
A highly inclusive staff culture and an exceptionalcommitment to considerate standards were the hallmarksof this company’s activities. An active Open Door policyencourages all site staff to share ideas and identifysolutions, resulting in a real feeling of project ownershipand involvement. Training standards were equallyimpressive, with a training matrix and regular reviews
ensuring every operative could continually improve theirskill set. The same enthusiasm was extended to supportingthe local communities surrounding each site, with treeplanting, lectures for schools, charity donations and oddjobs for neighbours all being regular features.
Despite typical project lengths of only six to twelve weeks,this company observed every detail of considerateconstruction to the highest level. Combined with superbsite presentation and top safety performance, this trailblazing company was deemed as being a first-rateambassador to the aims of the Scheme.
Elev8 Interiors Ltd
This division of Kier, based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire,delivers residential maintenance services for social housingand local authority properties throughout the area.
A particularly high level of clothing and protective wear forall conditions evidenced this company’s commitment to thewelfare of its workforce. This was supported by regular safetytraining including Working at Height and the provision ofoccupational health nurses at the main depot. Interactionwith local communities was also well-established, with the
development of ‘hubs’ throughout the area giving manyopportunities and local labour initiatives. These willundoubtedly provide a real legacy in the Sheffield area.
Constant attention to improving service delivery wasmatched by a strong environmental commitment,including several depot energy-saving schemes. Together,all these elements combined to produce an exceptionalconsiderate performance of great credit to the industry.

Most Considerate CompanyRunners-upThis award was presented to those companies that, for their outstanding levels of consideration, were considered for the title of Most Considerate Company.

The visiting Scheme Monitor for oneof this company’s sites labelled it as:“A professionally managed projectwith excellent communications tothe neighbours, public and thoseworking at or visiting the site. Pride and commitment frommanagement and operatives shinesthrough and no passer-by could failto be impressed.” This standard wasmaintained throughout all thevisited projects, with remarkableinternal site cleanliness and respectfor the surrounding communitiesfirmly in evidence.
In his reports after visiting severalcompany sites, the Scheme Monitorparticularly noted the very highregard in which this company washeld by every main contractor.Comments such as “exemplaryperformance” and “exceptionaldriver courtesy” werecomplemented by one maincontractor observing: “Theyexceeded all our expectations,demonstrating and operating bestpractice throughout”.
Tony G Harris & SonsBuilding Contractors Ltd
Adapting to the special requirementsof some work sites, one instancerequired refurbishment for the homeof a tenant with severe learning andmobility difficulties. The site teamresponded with exceptional care andunderstanding, while maintaining thelow external profile requested by theclient. In another, respect was shownfor extension work on a Sikh templeby the voluntary wearing of headcovering and boot covering. Boththese efforts were greatly appreciatedby the clients and conveyed anexcellent impression of the industry.
