Jeff Ericksonwww.jeffericksontheartist.comI grew up traveling the world and liv-ing in faraway lands with my family. Ivisited museums across the world, and soaked in images of the land-scapes I was fortunate enough totravel. My art developed out of these experi-ences, with an eye towards textureand abstraction. My paintings have a

minimal and literal landscape element, while I try to capture andconvey the textures of life. The experience of painting is a greatescape from the complexities of life, and I always find myself cre-ating an abstract scene of peacefulness, relaxation, and calmness.. I’m drawn to water, the sea, the ocean, and these feelings showup in my abstract landscapes.I paint with oils and wax medium, on canvas, gessoed hardboard, and paper. I’m able to create multiple layers of translucent colors, and through the process of scratching, distressing, and dissolving,I’m able to capture depth and feeling within the painting. Witheach painting, I start with no end game. I allow the painting todevelop and see where it leads.Jeff’s Workshops: SA1429, SU1410

Ken Muenzenmayerwww.muenzenmayer.comKen Muenzenmayer works in acrylicson a textured surface, fracturing thepainted stroke into minute pieces thatcreates a visual blending and depth inhis paintings. By downplaying thesignificance of subject matter andsimplifying the composition, he cre-ates “the big vision” by layering dry-brush and washes which connect all

of the component parts of a painting into a single broad harmony. Ken’s paintings can be found in major corporate and private col-lections throughout the United States. His strong compositionsand unique approach to acrylic painting have earned him numer-ous national and international awards.Ken’s Workshops: TH1425, SA1431, SU1414

Mario Robinsonwww.marioarobinson.comRobinson’s finished works bear a closeaffinity to the masters of the realisttradition, Andrew Wyeth and ThomasEakins. Containing few references tomodern life, Robinson’s work has atimeless and universal quality and ex-hibits a turn- of- the- century aes-thetic. The images he chooses, whichrefer to a bygone era where solitude

and reflection were abundant, also provoke frequent allusions tothe paintings of Winslow Homer and Edward Hopper.Beginning in 1994, Robinson’s work began to extensively incorpo-rate rural subjects primarily located in Alabama. Each subject isvery personal for the artist in both selection and execution. As thework progresses, his relationship with the sitter develops and auniquely personal story begins to evolve. Robinson frequently de-picts subjects framed within the context of their daily lives. Theunderlying narrative counters sentimentality and serves as the un-derpinning for his figurative images.Mario’s Workshops: SA1412, SU1412

Mike Rooneywww.mikerooneystudios.comMike Rooney prefers painting outsideto a comfortable studio. Bugs, by-standers and bad weather are just afew of the inconveniences he enduresto capture the colors and nuances ofhis coastal subjects. He has painted inone form or another since childhood, and was once a sign painter and air-brush artist. Rooney also teaches

painting workshops up and down the east coast and in Italy.Painting in oil, Rooney’s subject matter varies, but he loves toshow the effect of light on water, boats, and the beach environ-ment from the salt marshes of Cape Cod and rugged coast ofMaine, to the mangroves and turquoise waters of Key West. Mikeis also a painting instructor teaching up and down the east coastand abroad. He has also filmed several how-to DVDs on paintingwith brush and painting knives. The blurs of color Mike Rooney paints on-site are recognizable asboats, beach houses, and seas and they desire the great outdoorsas much as the painter himself.Mike’s Workshops: FR1429, SA1427, SU1408

James Sulkowskiwww.jamessulkowski.comHe studied for two years at the Penn-sylvania Academy of fine Arts inPhiladelphia, Carnegie Mellon Univer-sity and most notably at The Art Stu-dents League of New York withmaster painter, Frank Mason.
