WELCOME NEW BOARD MEMBER

"Be the Good" was our simple message this year. A simple call to action for every community member to give, advocate or volunteer to help the community in which they live and/or work. Without the support of you, the workplace campaigns, the employees at these workplace campaigns, our friends in labor, and our Partner Agencies, we would not be here! It is your generosity and unwavering support that allows us bring people, businesses, volunteers all together, to help make Will County great and to help make the following pages a reality. Thank you for choosing to "Be the Good!"

With Warmest Regards,

UNITED WAY OF WILL COUNTYADVOCATING AND PROBLEM SOLVING IN OUR COMMUNITYIt's not just about the Workplace Campaign. The United Way of Will County and it's staff members are actively involved in organizations that operate within and support our community. In many cases, we are ‘behind-the-scenes’ bringing businesses, organizations and individuals together to address community issues. We also offer fiscal support and 501c3 backing to organizations to promote collaborations within our community.

2-1-1 Non-emergency telephone number to connect people to community information and services. Together with Crisis Line of Will County and other local United Way’s, we are looking into bringing 2-1-1 to Will, Grundy, Kankakee and Iroquois counties.

Community Services Council of Will County A collective of not-for-profit organizations that come together to discuss current and emerging health and human service needs and trends in our community.

FamilyWize Free prescription drug discount card that allows families to save on their prescription drugs. No registration, no income eligibility and no residential requirements. Visit uwwill.org to download a card and to see an updated total on dollars saved.

Joliet Alliance For Youth (JAY) Strives to improve services for youth in the Joliet area by encouraging cooperation between member youth organizations through networking, sharing information and collaborating effectively.

South West Suburban Philanthropic Network Advancing philanthropy through professional development, SWSPN provides support and educational opportunities for nonprofit, development professionals in Chicago’s southwest suburban region.

Will County MAPP Project Strives to be a progressive community that maximizes the use of community partnerships and collaboration among all sectors to ensure, enhance and promote comprehensive, quality and equitable education, healthcare and social services.

Witches Night Out WNO is a costume fundraiser for women who want to make a difference in another woman’s lift. With United Way Will County as the fiscal agent for this completely volunteer led-event, $24,000 was distributed to 4 local agencies in 2013.

ShareFest New Lenox A new partnership established in 2013, ShareFest is an annual festival held during September that promotes sharing and caring. ShareFest collects books, clothes, food, home goods, items for our troops, and give it all away at their free exchange.

Will County Disaster Relief Fund If a natural disaster should ever strike Will County, we are prepared. The destructive 1990 Plainfield Tornado took its toll, and lives, that fateful day. Our United Way of Will County was at the helm of the disaster relief efforts, and established the Will County Disaster Relief Fund. The fund is still housed within United Way, and available, should disaster strike again.

PROGRAMS AND ALLOCATIONSOur Programs & Allocations volunteers work toward informed funding decisions to best utilize the generous donations received from

individuals and corporations for our United Way Partner Agency programs. These volunteers invest a generous amount of their time

visiting each of the United Way funded programs, examining detailed financial reports, and ensuring that service providers are

accountable. After careful consideration, volunteers determine the most effective and efficient use of available resources to meet

local needs and responsibly invest donor’s contributions. We thank them for their dedicated service to our United Way.

Greater Joliet Area YMCA Site Visit This particular YMCA program is a partnership with the Warren-Sharpe Community Center.
