A FAMILY WINE COMPANY

Folio Fine Wine Partners is a full-service importer and marketing agency that manages a collection of exceptional wines produced by families with generations of winemaking experience. Our goal is to become the preeminent purveyor of the finest wines from the world’s premier and emerging wine regions.

Italy: In Tuscany, we work with the world renowned Frescobaldi family, winemakers for more than 700 years. Under Frescobaldi, we represent Marchesi de’ Frescobaldi, Masseto, Ornellaia, Luce della Vite, Attems, Tenuta dell’ Ammiraglia and Castelgiocondo. In Sicily, we partner with the Rallo family, whose Donnafugata wines have elevated the reputation of this region. In Umbria, we work with Marco Caprai of his family’s Arnaldo Caprai wine estate, producers known for reviving the region’s native Sagranti-no grape. Our partners in Veneto, the Moretti Polegato family, producers of exceptional Prosecco under the Villa Sandi label and – most recently, we joined hands with Dal Forno Romano, one of the most prestigious and esteemed Valpolicella producers. From Piedmont, we import Coppo, the family-owned winery renowned for their Barbera d’ Asti, Barolo and Moscato, and the legendary Bruno Giacosa family with their highly sought after wines.

Spain: In Rioja, we are privileged to represent Alvaro Palacios’ Palacios Remondo and Artadi Viñedos & Vinos. Artadi founder Juan Carlos López de Lacalle also produces wines in Navarra and Alicante, focusing on single varieties native to each region. In Priorat, we represent three family wineries: Vall Llach, a

partnership between Lluis Llach and the family of his longtime friend, Enric Costa; Nita, with winemaker and Priorat native Meritxell Pallejà; and the Capafons family of Capafons-Ossó, early pioneers of the region. Finally, we are proud to represent two brands of the Masaveu family: Bodegas Fillaboa in Rías Baixas and Bodegas Leda in the Tierra de Castilla y León region, where they produce Tempranillo wines in partnership with famed winemaker Mariano García.

Austria and Germany: Further north in Europe, we import Grüner Veltliner under the Laurenz V. label, produced by fifth-generation Austrian winemaker, Lenz Moser and Riesling from Germany’s Prinz von Hessen estate, one of the oldest royal family dynasties in Europe.

California: Our carefully selected domestic portfolio showcases quality wines from Napa Valley by the Michael Mondavi family. These include M by Michael Mondavi, Animo, Emblem and Isabel Mondavi Wines, as well as Spellbound wines produced by Rob Mondavi Jr., his wife Lydia, and partner Geoff Whitman. Also included in our portfolio are the Oberon and Hangtime brands crafted by Tony Coltrin, winemaker and long-time Mondavi family friend. Folio Fine Wine Partners presents a truly diverse portfolio of exquisite wines. We encourage you to discover these extraordi-nary wines and to share them with friends, family, colleagues and accounts.

ARTAZU: Authentic Navarra expressed through traditional Garnacha and contemporary wine-making. Bodegas Artazu places it’s sole focus on this ancient variety Garnacha, which Juan Carlos finds full of charm and authenticity. Bodegas Artazu crafts wines using grapes from old vineyards nearly a century old, as well as from young vines – all made in a modern-style cellar.

Navarra - Bodegas Artazu established its presence in the historic wine region of Navarra in 1996, where their production area is well defined by both brown-limestone and clay-calcareous soils. The climate in this region is full of contrasts being dry and hot in the summer, and cold and humid in the winter.

Santa Cruz de Artazu - With this wine, the winemakers have attempted to reestablish the original Navarra variety and maximize its potential to produce a great wine. This wine comes from vineyards planted nearly 100 years ago.

The Value of Great Wine is closely related to the Soil and the People

Owner Juan Carlos López de Lacalle has been surrounded by old vines and great wines since early childhood when he used to accompany his grandfather during harvest time in Rioja. Dedication to detailed, delicate and hard work is something he learned at an early age, and these are governing principles for his three award-winning wineries in Rioja, Navarra and Alicante. ARTADI’S ideology is that “the value of a great wine is intimate-ly linked to the land and its people.” The conviction to safeguard this intimate link is what drove Juan Carlos to make wine in three distinct regions of Spain. Producing wines made from the single most important variety of each appellation, working with estate-grown fruit and developing a team of viticultural experts that respect the traditions and climate of each region are Bodegas Artadi’s fundamental keys to success. If asked, Juan Carlos would say the peculiarity of different soils, disparate climates and the inherent excellence of the grape varieties are the genesis of the authenticity of ARTADI’S portfolio of wines. Indeed when one looks at ARTADI’S contribution to Spanish winemaking, we find wines with character, personality and identity that reflect their roots in natural viticulture.

ARTADI: The Excellence of Tempranillo in RiojaA History of Excellence and Quality - With Viña El Pisón and Pagos Viejos receiving consistent scores of over 90 points for more than a decade, including 100 Points from Wine Advocate for 2004 Viña El Pisón, ARTADI is a leader of quality and excellence recognized by wine writers around the world.

Pure Tempranillo Expression - ARTADI cultivates their vineyards and produces their wines with the Tempranillo variety providing their wines with singularity and personality; freshness of fruit and smooth tannins are their special qualities. Rioja Alavesa - The highest elevation in the Rioja region is typically known for producing wines that are lighter and aromatic. ARTADI owns seventy hectares of vineyards, located on soils with wide and diverse geological particularities.

EL SEQUÉ: Mediterranean Monastrell Delivers the depth and intensity of the Alicante Region. In this inland region of Alicante, the climate is influ-enced by the Mediterranean Sea and La Mancha Plateau creating disparate temperature swings from 90-100 degrees during the day and 45-50 degrees at night. This Mediterra-nean-influenced climate is perfect for growing Monastrell and Syrah.

Bodegas El Sequé uses 100% Monastrell to produce mature and voluptuous wine characterized by aromatic freshness with hints of balsam, typical of a Mediterranean climate. El Sequé is made with vines over 40 years old providing depth and structure intended to age beautifully for years.

Natural Farming on Priorat’s Rugged Landscape

Francesc Capafons and Monserrat Ossó married in the late 1960s, merging their family names and historic vineyards in the Spanish wine region of the D.O.Q. Priorat. Located in northeast Spain, the region benefits from the tempering influence of the Mediterranean Sea, distinctive slate soils, and a rich winemaking legacy that has left them with a high percentage of ancient, low-yielding vines. From these historic areas, the Capafons-Ossó family produces balanced, expressive wines that continue to garner critical acclaim. One of five siblings who are the 6th generation of grape growers and winemakers from the Priorat/Montsant regions of Spain, their son Francesc Xavier Capafons Ossó, is the winemaker. Cellers Capafons-Ossó produces wine from the oldest, low-yielding vines in Priorat. The unique black slate soils (llicorella) of Priorat force the roots of vines to dig deeply for water, resulting in small yields of highly concentrated berries. From their Priorat vineyards Cellers Capafons-Ossó produces Mas de Masos, a combination of old-vine Garnacha and Cariñena with Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah; Masos d’en Cubells, a proprietary blend of Garnacha, Cariñena, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah from vines 60- to 103-years-old; and Sirsell, a smooth, fruity wine blended from Garnacha, Cariñena, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. Always farmed and produced organically, the estate’s vineyards were recognized as organic through official

certification with the 2009 vintage, and the 2010 vintage received the Spanish certification of vino ecológico, or “organic wine.” Francesc Capafons considers his vineyards to be “natural laboratories” where equilibrium between the land and farming is of the utmost importance.

Exclusively Estate–Grown Albariño Wines

Albariño, known as the “White Rhine” because of its similarity to Riesling, is an indigenous grape variety to Spain and one of the most sought-after white wines in the world due to its unique and complex flavor profile, and versatility with food. Since the founding of the D.O. Rías Baixas in 1988, Bodegas Fillaboa, meaning “the good daugh-ter” in Gallego, has produced some of the rarest and highest quality Albariño in the region. Bodegas Fillaboa is owned by the Masaveu family, who traces their winemaking history to the 14th century, almost the beginning of Spain’s wine tradition. Although the family has since diversified into different business sectors, about 30 years ago José Masaveu Herrero decided to resurrect his family’s winemaking past with the purchase of Bodegas Murua in the D.O.Ca. Rioja, then Pagos de Aráiz in the D.O. Navarra and, most recently, Bodegas Fillaboa, purchased in 2000. The winery is situated in the province of Pontevedra, near the town of Salvaterra de Miño, which is located on the River Miño that forms the Spanish-Portu-guese border. In a region where most wineries purchase grapes, Fillaboa stands out with its exclusive use of estate-grown fruit, ensuring optimal quality and consistency for its highly regarded 100% Albariño wines: the Fillaboa Albariño and the Selección Finca Monte Alto, one of the only single-vineyard estate wines produced in the D.O. Rías Baixas. The Fillaboa property is home to an impressive art collection, a beautiful tasting facility modeled after a typical Galician castle, and a state-of-the-art winery.

SPAIN

Bodegas Leda strives to exhibit the potential of Spain’s Tierra de Castilla y León by crafting wine from vineyard plots throughout the region that best express the characteristics of this ancient land. Labeling the wine outside of the D.O. Ribera del Duero or D.O. Toro appellation allows the freedom to source the best quality fruit year after year.

This philosophy behind Leda originated with one of the best European winemakers, Mariano García, who founded the winery in 1997 and has been involved in many high-profile projects in Spain. García began making wine in Ribera del Duero in 1968, and his family has known the area for generations, giving a great sense of history to every project that he touches. As winemaker at Vega Sicilia for 30 years, he worked with the very best that Ribera del Duero has to offer and has experimented with terroir expression over the last three decades with Mauro (Castilla y León), Aalto (Ribera del Duero), and San Román (Toro). His vision embraces making wines that are unbound by appellation limits, making him influential among winemakers and successful in bringing unknown Spanish winegrowing regions to the world’s attention.

Bodegas Leda is now a partnership between the Mariano García family and the Masaveu family, which traces its winemaking history back to the 14th century, and owns three other wineries throughout Spain: Bodegas Fillaboa in the D.O. Rías Baixas, Pagos de Aráiz in the D.O. Navarra, and Bodegas Murua in the D.O.Ca. Rioja. The day-to-day vineyard and winemaking activities of Leda are the responsi-bility of García’s son, Eduardo, who shares his father’s mission.

The Tempranillo grapes for Leda are sourced from several growers throughout the Duero Valley, near and within the limits of the D.O. Ribera del Duero and the D.O. Toro, with no vineyard plot larger than half a hectare.

Site by Site, Seeking True Expression of the Tierra of Tempranillo

With this emphasis on old-vine Tempranillo from specific chosen sites within Castilla y León, and a combination of traditional and modern methods in viticulture and winemaking, Leda produces genuine wines with a distinct sense of place.

Bodegas Leda creates two wines, both 100% Tempranillo, from low-yielding vines. Más de Leda is bottled after 12 – 24 months in oak barrels and has a style that is modern, friendly, fresh and juicy. Fruit for Leda Viñas Viejas is sourced from 50 to 100 year old vines. The wine is bottled after 36 months in oak. Intense, mineral, opulent, and elegant, it expresses the full potential of old vines from the Duero Valley.

Nita by Meritxell Pallejà is a rare gem from Priorat, a region typically known for its concen-trated barrel-aged reds, because it is one of the only unoaked “vinos jovenes,” or young wines, made in this famous appellation. The creation of young wine- maker Meritxell Pallejà, Nita by Meritxell Pallejà retains all the characteristic minerality of a Priorat wine, while showcasing the dense fruit flavors of old-vine Garnacha and Cariñena.

Meritxell Pallejà is the third generation of her family to have been raised in Priorat, where her great-grandmother Anita built their first family home, “Cal Nita,” and this wine’s namesake. After finishing her undergraduate degree in agricultural engineering, Pallejà spent a harvest and crush in the Napa Valley and in Bordeaux. She then returned to Priorat and became assistant enologist for Alvaro Palacios, before obtaining her graduate degree in enology and creating her own label, Nita.

Inspired by biodynamic production, Pallejà aligns her vine- yard management with lunar and seasonal cycles. She carefully selects old-vine Garnacha and Cariñena grapes from the steep, slate-covered vineyards, where low yields produce wines of great expression and complexity. Nita’s 2010 vintage was awarded 91 points in Wine & Spirits.

Alvaro Palacios: If anyone embodies the promise and spirit of “The New Spain”, it is Alvaro Palacios. Born into a wine family in Rioja, he now makes wine in three different appellations: Priorat, Bierzo, and his hometown of Alfaro in Eastern Rioja. Alvaro’s flagship Priorat wine, L’Ermita, is one of the highest rated wines to come out of Spain, and he was voted “Winemaker of the Year” in the 2008 edition of the Wine Report.

Following his great successes in Priorat and Bierzo during the 1990s, and the death of his father in 2000, Palacios assumed responsibility for the family’s property and winery in Rioja, Palacios Remondo.

Passion for Tradition: D.O.Ca. Rioja is known for native grape varieties Tempranillo, Garnacha Tinta and Viura, among other varieties used primarily for blending. The Palacios Remon-do Estate and vineyards are located at high elevations in the eastern part of the region. Alvaro’s passion for staying true to the tradition of the land inspires him to make wines that are expres-sive and authentic to the Eastern Rioja region. Alvaro uses Garnacha, which thrives in Rioja Baja, as the dominant grape in his red wine blends. This makes for more full-bodied wines with aromas of Mediterranean herbs, cherries and nectarines, and flavors of mixed berries and blood oranges on the palate.

Committed to Organic Viticulture and Natural Wine- making Practices: Palacios is deeply committed to organic viticulture and natural winemaking practices, such as use of organic fertilizers in the stone-covered, clay soils. All wines are unfiltered and clarified only with egg whites, no exogenous yeasts or commercial compounds are added to the wines and sulfites are kept to minimum levels. Total respect for his vineyard and its surrounding environment results in wines – La Montesa, Propiedad, Plácet Valtomelloso and La Vendimia – that express the true nature of the estate’s soils.

SPAIN Vall Llach

Authentic Priorat

From its founding in the early 1990s by famed Spanish singer Lluís Llach and notary Enric Costa, Celler Vall Llach has been governed by a commitment to rigor and quality. The winery lies in the tiny village of Porrera, in Southern Catalonia, in the highly-acclaimed D.O.Q. Priorat. Today Enric’s son, Albert, serves as the winery’s head winemaker, co-owner and general manager, ensuring the stellar quality that Celler Vall Llach has become known for will continue to flourish from generation to generation.

The magnificent century-old vineyard estates of Celler Vall Llach are home to 60- to 90-year-old Cariñena and Garnacha vines. Old vines naturally produce low yields, and Celler Vall Llach further reduces yields through careful vineyard manage-ment for densely concentrated wines. Vineyards climb steep slate (llicorella) hillsides, receiving optimum sun exposure and beneficial water deprivation, further concentrating the fruit. Newer plantings of Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah add complexity to the old-vine character.

The resulting wines have received high critical acclaim. Vall Llach, the winery’s flagship wine sourced from the estate’s oldest vines, has a deep cherry color and aromas of dark fruit, dried herbs, and spice supported by a ripe, yet delicate, tannin structure. The 2008 vintage was awarded 94 points by Wine Advocate. For Idus de Vall Llach, a focus on old-vine fruit imparts earthy aromas and hints of licorice and chocolate-cov-ered cherries that carry all the way through the lengthy finish. The 2008 vintage of Idus de Vall Llach was awarded 92 points by Wine Advocate. Embruix de Vall Llach has mature red and
