Academic CoreAll students will schedule five courses in the academic core.

Middle CoreEvery student will spend two periods each day in middle core classes. Most of the courses offered have a duration of twelve weeks (one trimester). Every student is required to take physical education/health and five other trimester courses. Performance music students (performing arts, band, chorus, chorus/band, strings, and strings/chorus) will be able to schedule two trimester courses in addition to physical education/health and their performance music course. In addition, a teacher recommendation*** is required for performing arts; if more than eighty students select performing arts, a lottery will be held to select students. Please note, as well, that Keyboarding is a prerequisite for Keyboarding Applications 8**.

World LanguagesPlease note that the world language that a student chose in sixth grade will be the language of study through 8th grade.

Special Scheduling SituationsPlease note the following regarding special scheduling situations:If a student is taking a math course not listed on the course selection sheet, please note that course on the blank line in the Academic Core section.Students requiring learning support seminar will be scheduled by their case manager.Students requiring gifted support seminar will be scheduled by their gifted coordinator.
