Backus Community CenterBackus Community Center was constructed in 1937 in the Art Decostyle and has served as a central gathering space for almost 80years. BeachesCity Beach is located near Ranier, (2 miles east of InternationalFalls). Lifeguard, picnic tables, grills, pavillion, restrooms, swings, bas-ketball and volleyball courts, limited tent camping. A smaller beach,without a lifeguard, is located in Ranier. Both are accessible by tak-ing the turn to Ranier off of Highway 11 East.

Visit Historic RanierBig Vic greets visitors to the home of the oldest operating cantileverrailroad bridge in the US. View the bridge from one of many cityparks. The bridge spans Ranier Rapids, where Rainy Lake pours intoRainy River.
Art GalleriesThere are a couple businesses in the area that have an extensiveamount of artwork for display and for sale. They include: BorderBob’s at 200 2nd Avenue and Tara’s Wharf in Ranier.
TrailsA variety of trails are available: hiking, bicycling, hunting,horseback riding. Some trail maps are available at the Chamberand CVB offices, 301 2nd Avenue.
World-Class Fishing – ALL YEAR!Rainy Lake’s fishery is healthy and regarded as one of the greatest fishinglakes in the Midwest. A variety of species call Rainy Lake home: walleye,smallmouth bass, crappie and northern pike.
Rainy River, another outstanding fishery, contains walleye, sturgeon,northern pike and smallmouth bass.

HuntingA variety of hunting opportunities can be found in KoochichingCounty. Obtain a recreation map at the Chamber and CVB offices.

Souvenir and Gift Shops, Specialty Shops and MallsA vacation is rarely complete without taking time to shop. VoyageurCountry is sprinkled with unique shops. Concentrated shoppingareas include: Main Street area, Highway 53, Highway 11 West, andin the historic village of Ranier (two miles East of International Falls).Many of the resorts, houseboats, B&B’s, inns and cottages offerunique gifts and souvenirs as well.
