“FOR THE RESIDENTS, BY THE RESIDENTS”
Have a great month! August 2014
Welcome to Florida; it greets you with hot humid air although it seems unpleasant at first, it eventually becomes quite fair. I know you'll enjoy our flat lands and oceans oh quite blue , you'll walk along our golden sands your life becomes anew. Because here in Florida, you're off to a fresh start, since you're well acquainted, you may never want to depart. "We live where you vacation" A line known all too well , Because here in Florida, let's face it, we can have some fun year round!
So far this summer season we have not been threatened by any hurricane’s. We are blessed to be living in such a protected area away from all the high waters and the coastal areas that do get hit the most. We have had our occasions of hard rain with thunder and lightning from tropical storm’s..
Please heed warnings you are given by the media on radio or television.
Everyone who lives here in Florida knows that we are the lightning capital of the USA. So if you are in the pool area and it looks like rain or you hear the thunder, we are advising you to get out of the pool area immediately. Also, tell your visitors or family about this situation.
The pool area was struck by lightning just a few years back, so please be cautious.
Better to be safe then sorry!!!!!!!!

LOOKING FORWARD TO FALL ALREADY!
from the Association President
Dear Friends
The weather has not been very cooperative, raining
every Wednesday afternoon, But John, Priscilla, Sherri,
and Lillian have been ready and waiting for
you! We have had great "regular customers" but we need
you! The hot dogs and hamburgs are the best and
cooked when they are ordered. We have take out boxes
so that you can take your order home. Please show your
appreciation to these wonderful volunteers!
Mike Miller has volunteered to lead exercise in the
pool! There is a sign up sheet in the lobby. Day
and time will be decided by the group!
A WII set has been installed in the club house! There
are many activities that can be played....bowling,
golf, skiing, exercise are just a few......all played
in the cool!
We have a number of new residents, please make them
welcome and invite them to our 2nd Thursday morning 10
am coffee on August 21st!
We are always looking for suggestions of activities
that you would like!
Dot
Women’s Club
On July 2nd 15 Ladies met at Sunrise Eatery in Zephryhills for a
nice lunch. We had a good time, good food and it was a nice
summer outing.
We are looking forward to our next one at Golden Corral on
August 6 at 11:00 A M.
It is our last summer luncheon so in September we will resume
our regular monthly meetings in the Clubhouse.
It is hard to believe how fast the summer is going by.
P.S Dont forget the school supplies for the less fortunate.
July 15 to August 15th
Thanks

Questions & Answers
Q. Why is it that it’s so much easier to get along with your grandkids
than it was to get along with your kids when they were a similar age?
A. Because you and your grandkids have the same opponent!
VACATION SEASON
We are already into August and the vacation season is just about
over and we are now looking forward to seeing our “Northern
Friends” who should start arriving between September and October.
It is so quiet here in Southfork and you wonder how we year round
residents can tolerate the heat and quiet lifestyle.
You know when the snowbirds start coming back that means a little cooler
weather is on its way by November and December. All the activities will come
alive again and so much to do and we’re waiting to find out what everyone did
while they were up North.
We have so many new residents and I am hoping that they all come out to join
us in the many card games, bingo, Monday morning coffee, the monthly
activities and entertainment scheduled. We would love to have all of you
attend these functions and we are really getting excited about “Fall” which is
just around the corner!
Age tells the story!
When Rex was younger, he used to do push-ups, sit-ups
and pull-ups every morning to get in shape.
He still does them, but now it’s to put on his shirt, pants
and shoes!!!! THEY NOW CALL THEM NOW THE
GOLDEN YEARS!!!!!
Water aerobics
We have a leader, now need the men and women to join us.
Watch for the times and date on the bulletin board!
If you like being in the water but get bored swimming up and down lanes, or just want to vary
your routine, consider trying some pool exercises with a group from our park. Water exercises
can also be safer and more comfortable for people who are overweight or suffer from arthritis,
back pain or muscle or joint problems. Since your weight is partially supported and your
movements slowed down, you are much less likely to injure yourself.

Wanted
WII (WII_FI) leaders to start as soon as possible
We now have the WII connected at the clubhouse and we need leaders/people to start some
games such as ”bowling” and a few other games and exercises.
There are many who do not know anything about these games and we need someone who is
familiar with the games to help others who may be interested in playing. This is good exercise
and I am sure there will be some interested in trying this out.
So please everyone, be eager to help out for either of the above. There are a few eager and
ready to go, so let’s get the ball rolling!
contact Dot Cady for more info on dates or times.
“TOPS” WEIGHT LOSS SUPPORT GROUP
On the fence about losing weight??? Visit our TOPS meeting each Saturday
morning at 9am to weigh in and then the meeting follows at 9:30am right in our
Southfork clubhouse.
TOPS Club Inc, (Take Off Pounds Sensibly) is a nonprofit weight-loss support
organization. TOPS encourages weight loss and maintenance through mutual
support of sensible eating and exercise. The heart of that support comes during
weekly chapter meetings. It is a self-help group of like-minded people willing to
encourage one another, share information and help each other stay on track as
they develop enjoyable lifestyle changes. It is a safe place to talk, listen and be
inspired among people with similar experiences
TOPS offers information on health and nutrition, plus our weekly support,
encouragement and motivation at these meetings.
We have recipe exchanges from the ones who love to cook and experiment,
suggestions on what to do when you go out to eat and so many varied subjects
which will be discussed weekly.
We have motivation projects to keep all the members upbeat and wanting to
win, challenges for the ones that lose weight and so many other little things to
keep all interested.
The agenda is: Weigh in, leader calls meeting to order, Roll call is taken, new
members and visitors are introduced, a professionally prepared TOPS program is
presented, Weight recorder reports on number of members weighing in, total
losses, total gains, awards are presented to best loser, etc.
So if you are on a diet and need some motivation, come join us on Saturday
mornings. We do not give out diets to follow but are a moral support group that
meet weekly!!!!!
Looking forward to seeing you there!!!!
