shifting 6-speed manual transmission is standard on 2.5i

models. It’s paired with an AWD system utilizing a centre

differential with viscous LSD (Limited Slip Differential).

If wheel speed differs between the front and rear axles,

the system helps distribute power to the wheels with the

most traction. The 6-speed offers smoother, more precise

with an active torque-split AWD system that responds to traction conditions, the transmission and driver inputs by

Many of the same features which make a Legacy fun to drive also keep its occupants out of harm’s way. The stable, responsive

handling of its Subaru Symmetrical Full-Time AWD is enhanced by the low centre of gravity of its SUBARU BOXER® engine.

Its available Vehicle Dynamics Control System, surefooted suspension, 4-wheel antilock brakes, Traction Control System, and

quick steering equip the driver with excellent evasive abilities.

BRAKING SYSTEM

The standard 4-wheel disc brakes feature lightweight aluminum

rear calipers and a strong, reassuring brake feel. The Antilock

Braking System (ABS) includes Electronic Brake-force Distribution,

to reapportion front/rear braking pressure when the vehicle is

loaded. Brake Assist provides greater force in sudden braking even

if the driver doesn’t brake hard enough. And Subaru’s Hill Holder

helps prevent rollback when starting off on a five percent or steeper

grade, by applying the electronic parking brake and automatically

releasing it once you’re underway.

VEHICLE DYNAMICS CONTROL SYSTEM

Standard in every Legacy, Vehicle Dynamics Control monitors and

analyzes if the vehicle is following the driver’s intended course via

an array of sensors. If the vehicle approaches the limits of stability,

the AWD torque distribution, engine output and brakes at each

wheel are adjusted to assist in keeping the vehicle on course.

PASSIVE SAFETY, TO BETTER SURVIVE A COLLISIONAt Subaru, there is never an end to the pursuit of safety.

We set high standards, constantly enhancing the Legacy’s

features to be designed with occupant protection as a high

priority. Its body structure is intelligently strengthened in

critical areas to help minimize the impact energies that reach

the cabin. Front SRS1 airbags, front and rear-side curtain SRS1

airbags, side-seat airbags, whiplash-reducing front seats, and

3-point seatbelts all around help protect occupants.

SEATS, SEATBELTS AND SRS1 AIRBAGSStandard on every Legacy are front SRS1 airbags, plus front-side and curtain

SRS1 airbags. Height-adjustable front seatbelts feature pretensioners to hold

passengers firmly in place, and load limiters that ease peak forces to the chest.

In a rear collision, front seats utilize rigid frames, firm headrests and such details

as energy-absorbing mounting of the inner seat springs, all to help reduce the

chance of whiplash.

PEDESTRIAN PROTECTIONLegacy was designed with the objec tive of providing a

high level of pedestrian protection. Shock-absorbing space

between the head and engine helps to reduce pedestrian

injury in an accident, as do an energy-absorbing front bumper

and a specially designed area around the windshield wipers.

RING-SHAPED REINFORCEMENT FRAMESThe Ring-Shaped Reinforcement Frame strengthens the passenger cabin from the roof

to the doors, pillars and floor. This design helps divert and dissipate impact energy

from the occupants in a collision. The front crumple zone is integral to the frame.

PRE-COLLISION THROTTLE MANAGEMENT

With the Pre-Collision Throttle Management

feature, EyeSight™ will help minimize or assist

you in avoiding impact with large objects in front

of your Legacy by preventing acceleration, even

when the accelerator is fully applied. It can also

help to reduce impacts in situations when “Drive”

is accidentally selected instead of “Reverse” by

cutting power if it sees an object in your path.

PRE-COLLISION BRAKING

With the help of Pre-Collision Braking, should a

driver ahead of you unexpectedly hit their brakes

or cut you off, EyeSight™ will warn you, apply the

brakes to help you slow your Legacy, and at lower
