Today, joined by EMC partners and customers, EMC Corporation (NYSE:EMC)kicked off a 24-hour, around-the-world live launch announcing new technologiesthat help give IT infrastructure teams the speed they need to lead their ITTransformation. At this event EMC announced that the EMC ViPR Software-Defined Storage Platform, a critical enabler to speeding this transformation, will beavailable later this month.
Using ViPR, customers can manage both their existing storage infrastructure(using the ViPR Controller) and the data residing within it (using ViPR DataServices), enabling them to help drive improvements in automation and lay down amodern storage architecture for future application deployments. ViPR-supportedstorage includes the new EMC VNX unified storage platform as well existing EMC
VNX, EMC VMAX®, EMC VPLEX®, EMC Isilon®, EMC RecoverPoint® and third-party arrays including NetApp storage. ViPR provides the foundation for buildingWeb-scale data centers without the need to hire thousands of technical experts tocreate a custom environment.

Upon general availability, ViPR will deliver Object Data Services—a capability thatsets ViPR apart from other solutions on the market. ViPR Object Data Servicesoffer support for multiple standard APIs including Amazon S3, OpenStack Swiftand Atmos in addition to giving customers the ability to view objects as files, providing near-file access performance without the latency inherent in currentobject storage models. ViPR Object Data Services are engineered to be deployed onany ViPR-supported file storage including the new EMC VNX unified storage
platform as well existing EMC VNX, EMC Isilon® and third-party arrays includingNetApp storage.
Future updates will be designed to add support for additional third-party arrays aswell as commodity hardware. EMC also plans to provide a broader set of dataservices as part of the ViPR platform, including an HDFS Data Service which willenable customers to perform in-place Hadoop analytics across their entireheterogeneous storage environment.

This strategy of broad platform support and open extensibility means thatcustomers can benefit from simplified management of their entire storageinfrastructure with the freedom to choose the underlying platforms that are mostappropriate for their particular workloads.
In addition, beginning in the fourth quarter of 2013, EMC Global Services plans tooffer a new Software Defined Storage (SDS) Workshop that is the ideal startingpoint for EMC customers to implement VIPR for their IT environment. The half-day on-site workshop helps customers to identify their specific storagemanagement, control, and automation needs to best maximize the ViPRplatform. The workshop evaluates a customer's application and storageenvironment and designs the optimum storage service catalog and serviceclassification. A detailed roadmap provides a gap analysis between current stateand future state using ViPR.

Docker and Linux Containers on @Azure | @CloudExpo#DevOps #Microservices
By Elizabeth WhiteMost everyone in Cloud IT circles has realized the power ofcontainerization and that companies are adopting Dockercontainers at a remarkable rate. There are many good reasonsfor this, such as easily setting up dev/test scenarios (DevOps),
and building out sophisticated, distributed computing clusters. But there are somedeeper questions this talk will address from the Microsoft perspective. Forexample, what is the future of Windows in a containerized world? How willWindows and Linux work to...Oct. 25, 2015 12:00 PM EDT Reads: 285
Microservices in a Hybrid Environment | @CloudExpo#DevOps #Microservices
By Liz McMillanMicroservices are a very exciting architectural approach thatmany organizations are looking to as a way to accelerateinnovation. Microservices promise to allow teams to move awayfrom monolithic "ball of mud" systems, but the reality is that, in
the vast majority of organizations, different projects and technologies willcontinue to be developed at different speeds. How to handle the dependenciesbetween these disparate systems with different iteration cycles? Consider the"canoncial problem"...Oct. 25, 2015 12:00 PM EDT Reads: 460

Cloud computing software is eating the world, and each day is bringing new developments in thisworld.
Yesterday's debate about public vs. private has transformed into the reality of hybrid cloud: a recentsurvey shows that 74% of enterprises have a hybrid cloud strategy.
Meanwhile, 94% of enterprises are using some form of XaaS – software, platform, and Infrastructureas a Service.
Big Data | Analytics and the emerging Internet of Things (IoT) are driving exponentially increaseddemands on datacenters and developers alike, as we cross the zettabyte horizon this year.
Containers and microservices are now part of every PaaS conversation, and IaaS providers areincreasingly competing for platform customers.
WebRTC continues to reform web communications, and DevOps is pushing its way into an enterpriseIT world that is increasingly agile, lean, and continuous.
Through all this, Cloud Expo remains the single independent event where delegates and technologyvendors can meet to experience and discuss the entire world of the cloud.
Only Cloud Expo brings together all this in a single location:• Cloud Computing• Big Data | Analytics• Internet of Things• Containers | Microservices• WebRTC• DevOps
Cloud computing budgets worldwide are reaching into the hundreds of billions of dollars, and noorganization can survive long without some sort of cloud migration strategy. Each month brings newannouncements, use cases, and success stories.
Cloud Expo offers the world's most comprehensive selection of technical and strategic IndustryKeynotes, General Sessions, Breakout Sessions, and signature Power Panels. The exhibition floorfeatures 100+ exhibitors offering specific solutions and comprehensive strategies.
The floor also features a Demo Theater that give delegates the opportunity to get even closer to thetechnology they want to see and the people who offer it.
Attend Cloud Expo. Create your own custom experience. Learn the latest from the world's besttechnologists. Talk to the vendors you are considering, and put them to the test.
See you in California!
