ABOUT ME

MY STYLE

I’m a not quite thirty years old, slightly goofy, very geeky, wild haired, shoe lover. Say that three times fast! I’ve been a professional photographer for close to five years, and I’ve been in love with photography as an art form for at least half of my life. I was lucky that my parents always let me embrace art in many methods, because it has truly shaped who I am. Outside of photography, I love food (long time vegetarian), fashion, animals, reading, karaoke and my blanket with sleeves.

My family is a constant inspiration to me. My husband Brian and I met over a decade ago, and have been together for over eight years and married over five. We have our beautiful (and fiery) daughter, Zaida, with another addition on their way in April of 2013. A large, extremely friendly, dog named Dante and three cats, Gigi, Harley and Mina, round out this crazy love filled life.

Honestly eclectic. For me, the most important thing is to capture people’s real selves. I don’t mind windblown hair or crinkled noses. I love to capture motion and emotion. Smiles aren’t always necessary; sometimes a serious look is what tells the story of that moment. I always aim to create truly custom photography. Your experience should be unique to you. I don’t have a game plan I follow for every client. There are times I love to get close and there are times I love to stand far away. Every moment works together. I’m always excited to do something new or go somewhere I’ve never been to help create that one of a kind look.

THE EXPERIENCEAfter securing your date, we will work together to come up with the perfect session plan for you. That might be having fun at an ice cream parlor, or snuggling in a field of tall grass. It might be just hanging out at home, doing the things you do every day. I love to make your session custom and one of a kind so that it fits your personality and style. I also offer assistance with what to wear and what to bring so you’re never left guessing.

The day of our session, we will hang out and have fun for somewhere between one and two hours, depending on the type of session. Sessions with babies and young children tend to be shorter, and that’s okay! After the session is over, it normally takes between two and three weeks for me to perfect your photos and get ready for our proofing session.

Once your photos are ready, I’ll get in touch to schedule our face to face proofing session. You’ll get to view a slideshow of all your finished images, and then look through beautifully printed proofs to help narrow down your favorites and place your order. There are special packages available as well as a la carte options. I offer both printed and digital product offerings and most clients purchase a mix of the two. I know every client has different needs, and I want to provide as much variety as I can.

After you place your order, your products will be ready within 2 - 8 weeks, depending on the products you ordered. If you need additional time to choose images, or would like to share a gallery with family and friends; one can be created for a nominal fee that includes a product credit.

BOOKING DETAILSThe creative fee for a portrait session is $250. This includes my time during your consultation, the session, editing and your proofing session. To secure a date, it is $100 down plus a signed portrait contract. Unfortunately due to my schedule, I am unable to set aside a date without both of these items. Your retainer is non-refundable, but can be transfered to another date if need be.

Proofing session product packages start at $350, and a la carte prints begin at $22. Printable digital files begin at $50. There is no minimum order required at your proofing session, but your set of 4x6 proofs and a copy of your slideshow are yours to keep with a $350 order. Online galleries are available after your proofing session with a $100 fee, and include a $100 product credit to spend in the gallery.

All products are subject to Texas state sales tax of 8.25%.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION HOW MANY IMAGES CAN I EXPECT FROM A SESSION AND HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?

The number of finished images varies depending on the type of session. On average, most clients can expect between 35 – 55 finished images. I pick the very best from your session and give you the most variety without including overwhelming duplicates. The average session editing turnaround is between two and three weeks.

WHAT IF I NEED TO RESCHEDULE MY SESSION?

You may transfer your session to an available date (dependent on availability) with at least one week’s notice. If you end up with an illness or medical emergency that prevents you from attending your session, please let me know as soon as possible. Additional rescheduling requests require a change fee. Second rescheduling request is $50 and the third and final request is $100. If you are unable to keep the third date, the retainer is forfeit. No call/no shows are also subject to forfeit.

WHAT IF IT’S RAINY, WINDY, COLD OR REALLY HOT OUTSIDE?

Weather rescheduling is up to the photographer. I do not cancel or reschedule sessions based on a forecast of rain until 2-3 hours prior to the scheduled session. The weather can change so quickly and I have shot many sessions where it rained a little in the morning, but ended up with a perfect afternoon. For situations of cold/wind it would depend on the session type. When it comes to the heat, please be mindful of the time of year you schedule your session and the type of session you want. I am happy to shoot indoor sessions at your home or other location if you feel concerned about the heat. If you absolutely want an outdoor session and heat is a concern, I suggest scheduling it in the last week of September through the end of November or the first week of March through the end of May.

CAN I BRING MY DOG(S) TO THE SESSION?

Yes, you’re welcome to include well behaved dogs in your session. Please keep your dog’s temperament in mind in regards to the type of photos and the locations. Often I suggest you have a friend or family member available to help bring or pick up the dog after one half of the session. Make sure you bring a leash, water (and possibly food/snacks) and waste removal with you.

CAN I BRING MY CAMERA/USE MY PHONE TO TAKE PHOTOS DURING THE SESSION?

Please do not take any photos during our session. It can be distracting and confusing for the subjects being photographed.

PREPARING FOR YOUR SESSION

LOOKING GOOD

You’re investing in your memories, so you want to make sure you also take the time to invest in yourself to make sure your session is the best it can be. When it comes to clothing, I have a large collection of visual aids to help inspire you with your what to wear choices. Coordinating clothing that still shows off your personality is the modern take on the matching outfits of the past. I am also happy to help with styling both via email or even helping make last minute choices in person. You’re welcome and encouraged to bring two or three outfit choices to help add variety to your session. Please check out my in depth What to Wear guides for more details on what to wear and what not to wear.

Clothing isn’t the only thing to keep in mind. Your accessories as well as your hair, makeup and nails (even guys!) matter too. Ladies who wear nail polish should keep it a classic or neutral color, and if you’re wearing open toed shoes, don’t forget about your toes. Have fun and feel fabulous for your session.

FEELING GOOD

I always do my best to ensure clients have a great time during our session, but it’s important that you also do your part to make sure you feel great. They may sound basic, but sleep and a snack go a long way! Please do your best to be well rested and fed before your session. This is particularly important with small children. Please pack a snack and drink (something colorless is best!) for your little ones as well. Make sure you have ample time to prepare for and arrive to your session.

When it’s time to shoot, the best thing you can do is relax and enjoy yourself. As a parent myself, I know this can be hard to do sometimes. Children will be children, and I find the best images are always those I capture when they are relaxed and engaged with me. If there is anything special about your child that I need to know, please let me know before our session so I can best bring out their natural smiles. I am always happy to take a break and let your child reset for a few minutes before continuing. Pushing a child too far never makes for a successful session!
