“Greatest Need” gifts for CT scannerLaura Reid, Imaging Services, readies a patient for testing in the new CT scanner in the Emergency Department. Unrestricted annual gifts and those made for “Greatest Need” totaled more than $145,000 in 2013 and were applied toward the purchase of this unit.

Independent living with LifelineNellie Smith, age 100, and daughter Carolyn VanBebber, appreciate the service given by Lifeline staff members. Lifeline provides 24-hour help and medical assistance, allowing peace of mind and continued independent living. Donations purchase new Lifeline units and assist those persons unable to afford a monthly fee.

Scholarships assistwith healthcarecareers

The Chris Racey Memorial Nursing Scholarship Fund was established in 2007 by Joseph Racey and family members in memory of his wife, Chris, who was a registered nurse at Passavant. Each year deserving students receive financial assistance from the fund to complete their degree as a registered nurse and begin their career in healthcare at Passavant.

Visionary donors have made generous bequests of farmland in Morgan, Cass, and Scott Counties over the years. Stewardship of the land is overseen by the Passavant Farm Advisory Committee, working closely with farm managers and farm operators to ensure best land management practices. Grains sales from Passavant Farms generated $803,000 in 2013. The earnings were used for operational expenses, nursing scholarships and charity care as directed by donor wishes.
