Scratch Video Game DesignChildren love games, especially computer games. They talk about them, they play them, and they brag about their accom-plishments. Children also love to challenge each other in these games, so much so that an entire industry has developed around playing games online. Yet, children seek to understand how people make the computer games they play. How does the video game know where the special coins are in Super Mario? How does it know when Zelda saves the Princess? Our Junior Video Game Design class shows them the answers. Bring a Flash Drive to bring the Finished Product home!

KickballKickball is a recreational playground game which was originally called “Kick Baseball” and played just the same. It is truly lots of fun and most commonly played on school playgrounds. In this class, we will learn the correct way to play and have loads of fun doing it. This is also a great physical team sport without injuries and every week we’ll have battling competitions against each other. On the last day we will have a “winner takes all game” and that team will received an award and bragging rights that they are the Nicolet Rec. Kickball Champs. Of course, no sports competition is complete without an end of the season party which will also happen on the very last night. So beat the winter indoor blues and sign up!

SheepsheadLearn the popular card game of Sheepshead (Schafkopf – In German). It is a card game, originated in Central Europe in the late 1700s, and popular in Wisconsin, because of its’ large German-American population. Many European nationalities now enjoy this game of Sheepshead, which uses 32 cards (7s thru Aces), and accumulates points to determine the winner. Sign up for this fun and low-key course to learn the basics, or to improve your fundamental concepts. The Instructor has many years of experience and is eager to share his knowledge with you. You may even want to participate in the Nicolet Recreation Department’s (and the Glendale Senior Citizens’ Club) Annual Sheepshead Tournament, held in the Spring of each year.
