NDER 16 WYNDHAM VALE V ALTONA

pretty hard game for us this week against third placed Altona in muddy conditions, Dom playing his 50th

game lost the toss and we kickedainst the wind. We put together a good first quarter with plenty of voice and backing up and went in to the first break with a 2 goal lead.

icking with the wind we increased our lead to only 15 points in the second quarter, Altona were able to bottle us up on the far side of the

ound and restrict our scoring opportunities. We started to play lazy football from this point on and didnt help out our team mates enough.

e knew Altona always come out harder in the second half of their games and they did that this week. They outscored us 2 - 4 to 1 - 1 and

ally challenged us but with plenty of guts and determination we hung on to win by a goal. Another great game by Rocket who was ablycked up by Carlos, Ayor, Jordyn and Sheldon who all helped set up the win.

e now go into the last game of the season proper needing to lift our game a couple of notches and get back to the team of a few weeks ago

ho worked hard for each other.

e team with the various jobs that need doing. The boys and I really appreciated your help and we will be doing our best to have a successful

    d to the season.

Womens Wyndhamvale; 7-6-48 def Melton 4-3-27

et, windy and muddy, typical winter footy conditions faced us at Melton for our final home and away game. Kicking into the windst saw us start well, kicking a couple of early goals and getting in front early. Again our backline played very well, making it difficultr the opposition to have easy shots or possessions.ur third quarter was ordinary and the score reflected this, allowing Melton to come within 2 goals. Players were asked to get backbasics share the footy, run hard and look after each other.

am pleased to say they did it well in the last quarter, running out comfortable winners. We might not have won many tap outs, butur midfield made up for it when the ball hit the ground. Our last quarter saw us play very well together as a team, we have come ang way from our first game at the start of the season.

ackling is the key to our winning games, it frustrates others and allows us to get clear of the pack footy others like to play.e have a bye this week, then into our first finals series.e will be playing Melton in the semi at Craigeburn, Sunday 4th Aug.

e do need to stick to all the skills learnt over the past months to advance past the first week.here are no easy games in finals.

    Weather fine Track slow

Congratulations to Jordo and Issy on their hundredth game and i am sure they will remember the game as it was our best win fo r the seasonknocking off the then top side.It has been a pleasure coaching these two quality lads and their parents must be very proud of them as they

work so hard for the team and they just keep getting better and better and they love their footy. Jordo changed the game with a great bump in

he second qtr that lifted the side and Issy was doing it at both ends defending and scoring..

The top of the table clash was a ripper with the opposition getting off to a good start and outscoring us in the first quarter even though we

were kicking to the scoring end. We wasted some chances kicking 1.4 but incredibly we kicked 9 goals straight after that to finish the game

on 10.4.It was great to see Zeb notch his first goal as he works so hard all day and is rarely beaten, he really is an inspiration for his team-

    mates.

At qtr time the guys were challenged to lift their work rate and that they did and more. Lethal was outstanding floating across half back re-

pelling their attacks and setting up chances for our forwards, Soni was the key constantly battling against 3 or 4 defenders enabling our for-

ward line to function successfully. My heart was in my mouth when Soni went down injured but thankfully he was able to recover and went

back on late in the game, i am sure he will appreciate the bye this week to rest up as will allot of the boys,T he last three qtrs were out-

tanding and we played our best football for the season.

We set goals at the start of the year for the home and away rounds and we have achieved them, a credit to the guys to do that and importantly

we go into the finals series playing our best footy at the right time .

t was a great team effort with everyone playing their role, special mention to Lucas who was great today and has been all year. Lucas

wanted to play on their best player and got his wish at half time and beat him pointless keeping him kickless in in the third qtr. Youngy

played the swing man perfectly stopping goals and kicking a couple of his own, he is in for a good finals series. Brenton was relentless all

day and is invaluable to this team with his hard running and high workload. One of the hardest things to do in footy is to lift when you are

down and Kuol showed incredible fortitude to work into the game after a quiet first half and played a great second half. Ky was great all dayand it is no coincidence that the result was turned around from our first encounter when he was injured.

A very special thankyou to Sue Mould and Ann Maree Kelly for the BBQ on Friday night. It was great to sit and talk and enjoy our food in a

fun and friendly environment created by Sue and Ann Maree. Thankyou ladies.

Today we versed Williamstown at home. I don't think I have ever seen the ground so wet and muddy and i knew we weregoing to have so much fun. Well done to Dylan for kicking our only goal. That's 15 goals for the season. Well done. Consid-ering the conditions, some great footy was played. Brandan was outstanding in the back line. Khye and froggy held theirown in the ruck and did a great job. Congratulations to Braiden on playing his 50th game of footy and his work around theground was outstanding. Aaron and Jemma were constantly running and always on the bottom of the packs. Gunny's tack-ng was perfect and he scored a few free kicks from it. Considering Cody is still unwell, he always gives 110%. All the work

we have done all season was really showing as you all grow stronger and closer as a team. Jordan played exceptionallywell and has really improved since he started not so long ago.

    Best - team effort

    Well done our little superstars.

This weeks game was our crunch game. We really needed this win if we were going to make it to the finals. The odds were stacked against us as we had no

bench for rotations, and a umpire called Shuffles. You boys never gave up trying today, and should all be as proud as I am with the way we played.

As most of you would know the past 3 years have been a big struggle for our team. Each year we have only managed to get 1 win for the whole season. This

year the boys have managed to win a total of 4 wins and a draw, this is a testament to how well this bunch of kids have tried !! Congratulations to you all,

    you deserve it.

As this week will be my last game as coach, I would like to say a special thankyou to all of the parents that have helped throughout this season. Your dedi-

ation to helping out this team was unbelievable and I do thankyou all sincerely.

Now to MY boys, thank you all for letting me be apart of this great team, and reminding me that it is not all about winning but in fact its all about having

fun, sportsmanship and learning a few skills along the way.

Kaiden: (Our Captain) Your leadership and commitment to keeping this team moving forward can not be faulted. Thankyou for all of your

    hard work.

Josh: Your tireless work in the backline is unbelievable, and yet you can kick goals as well. Thanks for the past 4 yrs mate.

Tommy: The quiet, shy boy has gone from the field.. Now you are a fierce tiger Keep it up mate, and you will go far.

Charlie: Best name ever!! Every week you have been trying harder and your confidence is showing. Well done mate.

Deklen: Smallest in size but the Biggest in heart. Playing 2 yrs above your age group, yet took on all the big opponents. Thanks mate

Rhys: You always put your head over the ball, and your shepherds are great to watch. Well done in your first year mate.

Jake.R: What a Rippa of a season you have had mate. Improving every week, thats all a coach wants to see.

ziah: Your reading of the play, your speed and your teamwork was unforgettable for a 1st year player.

Tyler: Thanks mate for your never giving up attitude, it kept the team wanting to try harder.

Jay: Your improvement this year is fantastic. I couldn't ask for any more. Never give up mate. You will get the rewards of your hard work.

Zach: Coming back after a serious injury would normally scare a young boy.. But to your credit, you just jumped straight back in and tried

    your hardest every week.

Lachlan: Our secret goal kicker. The opposition didn't know what hit them when you were unleashed in the forward line. What an im-

provement you have made this year mate. Keep it up.

Declan: Always running into space, and backing up your team mates. Fantastic to see that you never stopped trying mate.

Brayden: You worked so hard as an onballer, and the way you could break out of tackles is amazing. Thanks for joining our team mate.

Jake.S: Your hard work all over the ground, and your Specky marks were special. What a great year mate.

James: Mate, you were never scared of putting your little body on the line for the team. Fantastic work this year

Lukas: Every part of your game improved greatly this year mate, you were fantastic in the ruck, and you love the mud!

Ryan: When you realized that you had a great kick, there was no stopping you. Well done on your first year mate.

Luke: The quiet achiever. Never complains, and just gets on with it. Well done on a great year mate.

Vinny: What else can I say about you mate. The only way to explain it is Your Shit!!! Thanks for the laughs.

Arden: My Son I know that I always have been harder on you and have picked on you a little more than the rest. But I do believe that it

has made you stronger and a better all rounder. Leading goal kicker for the team this year. Well done Son.
