Business Management Model



ILC is an application part of BMS suite of applications, that provides practitioners and vendors with the ability to claim labor time, worked against internal and external Contracts / Accounts

Once the record is created, employee

claims time in ILC

BMS track project's business activities including its financial aspects & support Opportunities, Contracts and projects Resources: Deployment and utilization & Measurements and reporting

Cost Recoveries / Gross profit calculation from the general ledger

BMS calendar is different from normal calendar Week & Month

BMS Week begins on a Saturday and ends on a Friday.

BMS Month close date will be the last Friday of the month, except when the last Friday of the month is the last business day, the previous Friday will be the month closure.

Quarterly Closure is every three months plus 1 month

Labor CLAIM Impacts



The only employees who do not claim are pure support staff

ALL others MUST Claim Time

Every professional, IBM executive, Consultant and Subcontractor working for IBM must record time in ILC / CLAIM for the following reasons:

Labor CLAIM is the basis for invoices to our Clients/Customer

Labor CLAIM generates internal financial transactions that enable costs to be connected to the appropriate projects

Labor CLAIM generates reports that give us the ability to manage productivity in our projects and among our people

Labor CLAIM generates utilization history that will define commercial rates, as well as giving us historical data on which to base our future Client solutions.

Labor CLAIM Structure



Activity Code

Account ID

Workitem

Project Specific Account IDs will be provided by your Project Manager.

Project Specific Workitems will be provided by your Project Manager.

Project Specific Activity Codes will be provided by your Project Manager. FYI: Any clocking done on Activity codes beginning with V or X will not give you any utilization benefit.

You clock hours on the above mentioned combination in ILC.

Based on the clocking and Activity code / Account ID combination your personal utilization is calculated.

Employee claims time in ILC



Labor CLAIM Right Practices



Work what you claim, and claim what you work.

Claiming of hours must be done in the week, the work has been performed.

Submit your claim before every Friday afternoon, or the week’s last working day.

Not claiming by Friday will lead to delinquency which impacts personal utilization and

recovery leakage.

Claim your code accurately towards the specific account based on the activity code

listing.

Avoid Back clocking as it may lead to wrong billing when there is change in financial

attributes.

Vacation/Leave recorded in HRMS must match with the vacation hours claimed in

ILC.

If the claim entry is on proxy, verify to ensure that it is consistent with your hours

worked.

Report any changes that are made to your claims, without your concurrence.

You commit to claim accurately by certifying the Business Conduct Guidelines



Commonly used Non Billable Clocking codes for Practitioners

CLAIMWTG work item is used to clock the hours for projects, while actual Account ID is awaited or yet to be received. These hours have to be moved to a project account once the account id is received.
