Development Week AwardCommunity Development Week
April 1st -7th, 2013
Best Practices• Start Planning Efforts Early
– Meet regularly and delegate roles and responsibilities• Adopt the NCDA Theme into Planning the Week’s
Activities– Highlight projects, programs and services that impact diverse
constituencies– Distribute events across the community
• Spread the Message– Develop a unique CD Week logo– Publicize!
• Involve and Educate Others– Mayor’s Office, City Council, HUD, Communications, Special
Events, Public Service, Parks and Recreation, the media and corporate sponsors (banks especially)
– Encourage subrecipients/grantees to host their own events and then partner/”piggy-back” with them
• Invite the Community and Have Fun!
