Debbie Silver is an award winning educator with 30 years experience as a classroom teacher, staff development instructor, and university professor. Her numerous recognitions include being named the Louisiana State Teacher of the Year. Along the way she has taught almost every grade level and most every kind of student. Dr. Silver has been an invited author for several educational journals and has given keynotes at state, national, and international conferences in 49 states, Canada, Europe, and Asia. She has also been featured on PBS OnLine Teacher Chat.

Mr. Jamie Vollmer Author, Speaker, Consultant

Jamie Vollmer is an award-winning champion of public education, and the author of the highly acclaimed book, Schools Cannot Do It Alone. He has spent the last twenty years working with school districts, education associations, foundations, and chambers of commerce across the nation to halt the erosion of public trust and build support for America’s public schools. His primary goal is to help educators and their allies remove the obstacles to progress and create schools that unfold the full potential of every child. He is the proud recipient of the 2012 Friend of Public Education award, presented by the Ohio Federation of Teachers. In 2010, he received the Learning and Liberty award, presented by the National School Public Relations Association in recognition of his “outstanding efforts to strengthen school/community partnerships.”

Chef Jeff Henderson Creator of the Chef Jeff Project

Chef Jeff Henderson is an award-winning chef, motivational speaker, New York Times best-selling author, and Food Network television personality. Henderson captivates audiences across the country with his triumphant story of change and the power of potential. Henderson grew up on the tough streets of Central LA and San Diego. At 24, Henderson was arrested and sent to prison, where he spent the next ten years behind bars. It was while incarcerated that he discovered a passion for cooking and committed himself to turning his life around. Having no formal education and a criminal background, he struggled for years in the hospitality industry. But, with persistence and determination, he was able to achieve his dreams, eventually becoming the executive chef of Café Bellagio in Las Vegas.

State Continuing Education Clock HoursState Continuing Education Clock Hours

Participants will have the opportunity to earn State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs). To be eligible, attendees must: Complete the SCECH application (available to print from the

conference website or at the registration desk on-site) Pay a $20.00 application fee to the SCECH Coordinator at

conference check-in Attend a minimum of five hours of eligible sessions conducted

February 11 and February 12. Check sheet must be signed in and out at each session. Additional information available at the conference website: www.michigancareerconference.org

To receive SCECHs, you must sign up prior to attending any sessions. No credit for sessions attended before payment

Eligible sessions and hours will be noted in the program. SCECH participants will be able to access their SCECH transcript through the online state system, after session attendance has been verified. Additional information available at the registration desk on-site.
