Metallurgical Engineer Carol Stream, IL SCHMOLZ+BICKENBACH is a global leader in the production and distribution of tool steels, engineering steels, and stainless steels (long products). We are searching for an ambitious and energetic individual with the desire to grow within our organization. This immediate opportunity is available in the technical department at our Carol Stream, IL North American Headquarters (Stainless Steel Materials Division). Responsibilities: Serve as a liaison between the European group production mills and our North American sales and distribution network for all technical issues Work closely with the Sales Organization in the development of technical marketing materials and assist with new product launches Accompany Outside Sales Representatives when meeting with Direct Customers, End Users, and OEMs to address technical issues and provide material and treatment recommendations for specific applications Review Mill and Customer Specifications Analyze data and write technical documents Prepare samples and perform the following procedures: o Charpy V Notch Impact Testing o Tensile Testing o Microstructure Analysis o Chemical Analysis with a Spectrometer o Hardness testing Assist with failure analysis and prepare technical reports Develop and make technical presentations to peer group audiences including Engineers, Process Engineers and Metallurgists at direct customers and end users Represent Schmolz+Bickenbach at industry trade associations Requirements: BS in Metallurgy, Material Science or Mechanical Engineering Exceptional verbal/written communication skills Domestic and International travel Knowledge of Stainless Steel and Stainless Steel applications Beneficial to have direct experience with machining Stainless Steel Excellent benefits and 401K offered; salary commensurate with experience.
