MERIT BADGE PROGRAM CHANGES

This summer we have some changes to our merit badge program which are mentioned below.

Mammal Study and Nature Merit Badge: This summer we are offering both the Mammal Study and Nature Merit Badges in the same one week long class. This specialized class is going to be teaching how mammals’ impact nature and the environment they live in. By the end of the week they will have completed all the requirements for both merit badges.

New Merit Badges: This summer we are proud to announce the addition of three merit badges to camp. We are introducing American Heritage, Bird Study, and Search and Rescue.

Prerequisites: We wanted to remind everyone that the requirements on the prerequisite form are to be done before camp. Most of them require outside field trips or extensive time requirements. This summer along with the completed prerequisite form the scout is required to bring proof of completing the requirement. If the requirement asks them to make something then they should bring that to camp or a photo of it. If it asks them to visit a location and talk about it then they should visit that location have a write up about the location, and be prepared to discuses the requirement with the counselor.

Prerequisite Workshop: This year we are offering a prerequisite workshop designed to help scouts complete their prerequisite requirements before they come to camp. These will be online videos explaining the requirements and where they can go to finish them up. This will be available on our website www.campwhitsett.org after April 22nd. Look for more information about these workshops coming soon.
