According to Woods, 40new trees have beenplanted in the last twoyears to replace the aging

How did you get into the paint business?

The owners father got into the paint businessbecause he was just looking for a business to buy.Knights Paint has been in existence now for 75years. It was originally located on Mill Street andwas purchased from Homer Knight.

What are popular colors right now?

Some of the reds are very popular because they arebeing used to paint doors. Other popular colorswould be warm grays and our handmade AF-325

(cream), AF-130 (mocha), and AF-290 (red). Peoplewill paint an entire room, a single wall, or the wholehouse.

What are the common themes customers want topaint in their homes?

Taupes are very popular. Briarwood is the name ofone of our best sellers. People can be all over theboard with their color selections. It seems like peo-ple are getting much more creative.

What tips can you offer to someone thinking about

painting the inside of their home?

Start small, not with the whole house. Doing it all atonce can be overwhelming. Go room by room andfind a small item in the room and accent that color.Starting small is the easiest.

What aresome cre-ative ways topaint rooms?

Faux finish-es are outright now.Sometimespeople gowithmetallics, butmostly thetextured faux finishes are out.

What do you like about working at a business i

Grass Valley?

I like the small community. People are nicer aneasier going. There is less pressure. Probably ab70 percent of our business is regular customers.

Chapa-De is a full-service clinic that offers a widevariety of services to the American Indians and low-income individuals. Funding for the clinic, whoseoriginal location is in Auburn, was acquired in the1970s, after studies found health disparities among

American Indians in California. Chapa-De expand-ed its coverage to include low-income (includingnon-native) indi-viduals after see-ing a need forlow-cost to no-cost health care inboth Nevada andPlacer counties.

We are part of asafety net of clin-

ics in Nevada and Placer county that serve theunderserved, Davies said. We try to create relation-ships with low income people so that health care isnot a burden to them. Our number one goal is toprovide health care to people who would have a hardtime getting it if we were not here.
