Strong and stubborn a patriot is put to rest todayNever silent on his beliefs and where he stood

On issues that occupied his heavy hearted mind

A family man who lived life according to his own values

A man who lived a full and long steady life

Loved by many by those who surrounded him

At some times we saw strain and frustration

But this only a mask to a deeper caring face

Only shown when his guard was down

In later days a more gentle man expressed

A deep love for his beloved wife who is now with him

We lost a one of a kind true American family man this week

Rest in peace, my friend, my grandpa, our grandpa, our father

God be with you

God speed to you

The death of a friend...To Understand Life


He is a quiet man always seeking knowledge and truth

Asking heavy questions with a touch of respect in his

soft breath

To fully understand the correct answer that might help

a strong few

Seeking a secure connection with others including me

and including you

Not afraid in a changing crowd to stand up even if it

meant going alone

I heard the sad news about my friend and his end over

the smart phone

Free from pain he is now, able to speak at ease in

peace in his own tone

I vision him today walking & talking, but listening to

spirits in his new home

To understand the afterlife just as he tried to

understand the living life

A quiet man always seeking knowledge and truth as he

encounters plight

Hollywood Marbles


Sail adrift over the ocean alongside Santa Monica pier

Passing by the Venice beach bikini babes without much ware

Talking to the clowns and poets on the boardwalk of disrepair

Hailing a yellow limo down to the avenue of stars, bars, and

actors with a prayer

He is an honest man down in the valley of snakes and black

widows

Living it large and working the studio engine with a pick and a

hoe

Trying to clean the machine up on the big screen strong and

mean

Trying to make a difference when everyone wants your energetic

steam

Took a short trip to shiny glittery Las Vegas to play a few high

roller blackjack hands

Lost it all, but learned the lesson of the fool who walked

backwards on quicksand

Left with a vengeance to make it right and move up the green

ladder on the power band

Just need that one shot from that one person controlling the

players on the desert land

Got a job as a PA on a big budget flick on the studio lot catching

coffee for the boss

Got the director mad and got kicked off the film quicker than the

solar sun on icy frost

He tried to be the steady rock, but instead turned out to be the

unwanted moss

Depressed, walked to the part of town where everyone is brokeand lost

Met a nice hometown woman from the Midwest at the dinerdowntown

Got married in two weeks and he wore a black suit and she a

white gown

Honeymooned in the wine country up north at a country inn on

Puget Sound

Returned to give it another chance and followed the scent like a

hungry blood hound

That same director gave the changed grounded man another

shot

This time he got it right and turned out to be the next Mr. Hot

Made his own film and stared his wife in the action packed

dramatic plot

Won the Academy Award and retired with his honey on a real

European lot

He plays his banjo and chews on raw wheat

Winks at pretty women and dances to his own

beat

Never goes hungry because he hunts for his own

meat

Ladies & gentlemen let me introduce you to crazy

old Uncle Pete

Down in quiet Newville near Big Spring Creek

He works at the factory wielding steel in the

summer heat

Not much of a worker, but stands all day on his

two sore feet

Wears jean overalls & at the end of day enjoys his

leather seat

One weekend evening he went to where local folks

meet

Played a hand of poker at the strangers table and

got badly beat

Promised the big bad man money at the end of

next week

The weighty pressure was on heavy for crazy old

Uncle Pete

He went to his family and begged for some money

to pay that sheik

All they gave him was a few torn bills wrapped in

a dirty white sheet

He hurried home & washed himself truly clean &

dressed real neat

Went to the big bank for a loan, but was thrown

back on the street

Time seemed to slip very quickly into the end of

next week

Small town soon knew of his problem because of

a whispered leak

He knew he was in great danger and stuck in the

mud way too deep

The days were numbered straight down for crazy

old Uncle Pete

Moonless due night came so he left with the bag

wrapped in a sheet

Everyone in small town followed him to the

summit with the sheik

He arrived at the crossroads meeting place late &

noticed the creep

Handed his sidekick the heavy bag and tried, but

could not leave

To great surprise you might say the bag was

empty, just the sheet

Pete promised the money if he was granted just

another short week

The sheik said no and shot the poor man right

where the heart beat

Crazy old Uncle Pete got cremated, ashes flung in

Big Spring Creek
