The South Suburban Tennis Academy (USTA Organiza-

tional Member www.sstatennis.com) conducted a interactive

tennis activity at the Taste of Orland in Orland Park, IL on

Saturday, August 3. We arranged our space into seven sta-

tions at which a different activity was done. We were empha-

sizing the 10 and Under Tennis program. (Thanks to USPTA

for supplying us with some posters.) At each station, an ac-

tivity that demonstrated some of the 10 and Under Tennis

drills and a,b,c's were conducted. There were 70 parents

who signed up their children for the free 10 and Under Tennis

USTA memberships. There were more than 120 children who

participated in our activities. We are looking forward to

teaching the 10 and Under Tennis program at all our sites in

the future. It was a fun time for all!

O n June 14th to the 16th the USTA/Midwest Section hosted a team competition between Midwest

Districts for boys and girls in the 12s, 14s, and 18-and-under age divisions. This is an exciting team

competition. Match play consists of a round-robin format throughout the weekend and concludes with

the top teams advancing to the championship match. CDTA players in the 18's are chosen by invitation

only from the Super Excellence Program to participate. Player's from the 12s & 14s are selected to par-

ticipate based on their ranking, tournament play, character, and sportsmanship.
