About DowlingFounded in 1955 as part of Adelphi University’s Suffolk Campus, the college purchased the former W.K. Vanderbilt estate in Oakdale in 1962. In 1968 the college was renamed after its chief benefactor, Robert Dowling, a noted city planner and aviator.

Situated on the banks of the Connetquot River on a former Vanderbilt estate, Dowling’s Rudolph Campus in Oakdale is among the nation’s most beautiful. The 105-acre Brookhaven Center is located on William Floyd Parkway in Shirley and features high-tech learning facilities for a broad range of undergraduate and graduate courses. About Queens:Queens College, located on a beautiful 77-acre campus in Flushing, New York, opened its doors in 1937 with the goal of offering a first-rate education to talented people of all backgrounds and financial means.
