2013 Spring Little League Baseball Registration

!

Verification process for All Players All players new and returning to DMLL MUST complete the following verification steps at the league Registration Day: Age Verification: Bring the player’s Birth Certificate or passport to show at registration Address Verification: Little League International requires 3 forms of address verification showing player’s home address is within DMLL league boundaries. Each local Little League determines the actual geographic boundaries of the area from within which it shall select players. Players will be eligible to play with that league only if they reside within the boundaries provided to and approved by Little League Baseball, Incorporated. A player will be deemed to reside within the league boundaries if:

• His/her parents are living together and are residing within such league boundaries, OR; • Either of the player’s parents (or his/her court-appointed legal guardian) resides within

such boundaries. Acceptable for Address Verification Little League requires three (3) separate items to demonstrate proof of residence so we can verify that you live within DMLL boundaries. The documents will be reviewed and returned to you at the verification session. Little League requires one item (and only one item) from any 3 or more of the following categories to demonstrate proof of residence:

1. Driver’s License 2. Voter’s Registration 3. School records 4. Welfare/child care records 5. Federal records 6. State records 7. Local (municipal) records 8. Support payment records 9. Homeowner or tenant records 10. Utility bills (i.e., gas, electric, water/sewer, phone, mobile phone, heating, etc.) 11. Financial (loan, credit, investments, etc.) records 12. Insurance documents 13. Medical records 14. Military records 15. Internet, cable or satellite records 16. Vehicle records 17. Employment records

One item and only one item may come from any one category. In other words, three utility bills (three items from No. 10 above) will not suffice to establish residency since they come from only one category. To satisfy the proof of residency requirement, there must be a document from two other categories.

I further agree to the following:

• I will not criticize, belittle or question the ability or authority of any official, coach or volunteer of the Team or League.

2013 DMLL Explanation of Divisions

!Del Mar Little League is a leadership organization using the game of baseball as our vehicle. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for all children to have fun, while learning and developing in the sport of baseball. We are able to provide all levels of play in order to meet the needs of the community that we serve. Below is a list of divisions that we are offering for the 2013 season. PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTIONS CAREFULLY and contact the Player Agent at [email protected] if you would like to request that your child play DOWN in a lower division due to safety or ability concerns.

Juniors Division – All 13 and 14 year olds

This division is for ALL 13 and 14 year olds. Relatively competitive baseball played on a field with a distance of 60’ for the mound and 90’ for the bases. Players must go through evaluations, and then the coaches put the teams together in order to create parity.

Majors Division – All 12 year olds (unless waivered down to AAA), 11 year olds and very few of the highest level 10 year olds.

This division is for players who are prepared for a very high level of play. The pitching is generally quite fast and the speed of the game is rapid. There are play-time requirements that include all players playing a minimum of 3 innings in a defensive position, but no requirement for any player to play an infield position. Eligibility to play in this division requires all players attend an evaluation and each player must be willing to commit 4 days per week to baseball, which includes a minimum of 2 games and two practices. The Managers of the division will draft players onto their teams and no requests are granted.

AAA Division – Any 12 year olds who have waivered down. All 11 year olds who were not drafted onto Majors teams (unless waivered down to AA), 10 year olds and very few of the highest level 9 year olds.

This division is for players who are prepared for a moderately high level of play. The pitching will be relatively strong, but generally unrefined. There are play-time requirements that include no player sitting out a 2nd inning until all players have sat out once. In addition, there is a requirement that every player play at least 2 innings in an infield position during each game. Many players will have a chance to pitch during the season, but 12 year olds in this division are not allowed to pitch. Eligibility to play in this division requires all players attend an evaluation/tryout and each player must be willing to commit 4 days per week to baseball, which includes a minimum of 2 games and usually two practices. The Managers of the division will draft players onto their teams and no requests are granted.

AA Division – Any 11 year olds who have waivered down. All 10 year olds who were not drafted onto AAA teams (unless waivered down to A), and 9 year olds.

This division is for players who are prepared for a moderate level of play. The pitching will be less developed and generally quite a bit slower than the divisions above. There are playtime requirements that include no player sitting out a 2nd inning until all players have sat out once. In addition, there is a requirement that every player play at least 3 innings in an infield position during each game. There is also a requirement that every child who desires has a chance to pitch during the season, but 11 year olds in this division are not allowed to pitch. Eligibility to play in this division requires all players attend an evaluation/tryout and each player must be willing to commit 3 days per week to baseball, which includes a minimum of 2 games and one practice. The Managers of the division will draft players onto their teams and no requests are granted.

2013 DMLL Explanation of Divisions

!A Division – Any 10 year olds who have waivered down. All 9 year olds who were not drafted onto AA teams (unless waivered down to Rookie) and 8 year olds

This division is a developmental “Kid Pitch” division. The players will be placed on teams using the player evaluations from the previous season of play, with an attempt at parity. PLAYERS WILL NOT BE PLACED TOGETHER BY REQUEST OR BY SCHOOL. Every child in the division will play all positions on the field during the season. Each player who wishes to pitch will have at least one opportunity to pitch in a live game during the season. The division rules have been created to cater to players who are experiencing their first attempt at “kid pitch”. Those rules include a shortened 42’ mound distance, limitations on stealing, junior umpires, etc. Eligibility to play in this division requires a commitment of 2-3 days per week of practices and games depending on the schedule for each respective week. PLEASE NOTE: by placing your child in this division, you understand that he/she will be facing live pitching, which could result in your child being hit by live pitching. If your child is not ready for that situation, this is not the division for them.

Rookie/MP – Any 9 year olds who have waivered down. All remaining 8 year olds (unless waivered down to CP) and all 7 year olds who want to play in this division.

This is our standard Machine Pitch division. The rules will be the same as in previous years with the exception that we are allowing 7 year olds who request to play UP in this division. All players are moved around to all positions during the season. Players who sign up on time for this division will generally be placed on teams with some players from their school or neighborhood. PLEASE NOTE: this division uses a very hard “machine ready” baseball that is often times hit very hard by bigger and older players in the division. If your child struggles to get their glove up in time and is not ready to potentially have a hard ball hit in their direction, this is not the division for them.

Coach Pitch – All remaining 7 year olds and all 6 year olds who want to be in this division. No 5 year olds will be allowed to play in this division.

This is our standard Coach Pitch Division. It is a bit higher level of play than T-Ball. Players play all positions during the season and all players are in the field each inning. Very restrictive baseball rules. This division will include one practice and one game per week. 6 year old players may request to play UP in this division ONLY if that player has previously played T-Ball in DMLL or any other similar league. Players who sign up on time for this division will generally be placed on teams with some players from their school or neighborhood.

T-Ball – All 5 year olds (NO EXCEPTIONS) and all remaining 6 year olds who do not choose to play in the Coach Pitch division.

This is our standard T-Ball Division. It is an introductory level of play. Players play all positions during the season and all players are in the field each inning. Very restrictive baseball rules. This division holds practice for approximately 1 hour prior to game times, which are only on Saturday’s. Players who sign up on time for this division will generally be placed on teams with some players from their school or neighborhood.
