Itwastheearly1900’sandtheGermanemigrantownerofasmalldentallabinKearney,NewJerseywasmakingvulcanitedenturesandpartials.EdwardHandlerknewtheremustbeabetterwaytomakeremovabledentalappliances.Hedesignedandhadcastnewstylesofdentureflasksthatwereeasiertotakeapartandremovemodels.Hedesignedanewerstyleandlessexpensiveflaskpress.

Boththe“DonhamFlask”and“IdealPress”wereahitinthelocaldentallabmar-ket,soEddecidedtoopenadentalmanufacturingfacilityathislocationinKearney.Edaddedvulcanizersanddifferentflaskstohisgrowingmanufacturingfacilityandcontinuedtocreateandinnovatenewerandbetterdentureprocessingequipmentforthelocaldentalmarket,includinganewdentallathe–TheRedWingLathe.

Inthemid1930’sEdHandlerdecidedtomovehisfacilitytoKinneyStreetinNewark,NJacrossfromoneofhislargercustomers,theWmDixonCompany.Theninthelate1940’safterWWII,hemovedhisfacilitytoGarwood,NJinanew5,000squarefootfacility.ThereEdcontinuedtobuildcastflasksfordentures,crownandbridgeflasks,vulcanizers,RedWingLatheandanewerproduct–apolishingunit.Towardstheendofthe1950’s,EdHandlermetGeorgeDeCourcey,theVice-PresidentandGeneralManagerofAdererGoldandtheCosmosCompany.In1957,EdsoldthebusinesstoGeorgeDeCourceyandretired.

DeCourceycontinuedinthefamilytraditionofbuildingdurabledentallabequipment.In1963Georgehiredayoungengineer,BillLehman,whowasalsoGeorge’ssoninlaw.OverthenextyearbusinesstripledandHandler’sbusinesscontinuedtogrow,addingnewproductstotheirlineoflathes,forgeddentureflasks,sturdydenturepressesandcompresses,pluspolishingunits,dustcollectorsandotherproductsforvariousindustries.In1979BillLehmanpurchasedthecompanyfromGeorgeDeCourceyandcontinuedcreatingandbuildingnew,qualityproductsforthedental,jewelryandindustrialtrades.Continuinginthefamilytradition,Handlercontinuedtogrowandprosper.

Today,HandlerManufacturingCo.,Inc.isknownworldwidefortheirqualityproductswhicharebuiltataffordableprices.Unlikemany“manufacturers”today,Handlercontinuestobuildandmanufactureover90%oftheirproductsintheirfactoryinWestfield,NJ.Withinhousesheetmetalandmachineshop,Handlerhasthecapabilitytocustombuildoneproductorlargerquantitiesforcustomers.HandlerproductsaresoldexclusivelythroughauthorizeddealersanddistributorsandHan-dlerstaffmembersworkcloselywiththeendusertoprovideacustomdesignedlabfurniturelayoutorsuctionsystemfortheindividuallaboratory.

Itwastheearly1900’sandtheGermanemigrantownerofasmalldentallabinKearney,NewJerseywasmakingvulcanitedenturesandpartials.EdwardHandlerknewtheremustbeabetterwaytomakeremovabledentalappliances.Hedesignedandhadcastnewstylesofdentureflasksthatwereeasiertotakeapartandremovemodels.Hedesignedanewerstyleandlessexpensiveflaskpress.

Boththe“DonhamFlask”and“IdealPress”wereahitinthelocaldentallabmar-ket,soEddecidedtoopenadentalmanufacturingfacilityathislocationinKearney.Edaddedvulcanizersanddifferentflaskstohisgrowingmanufacturingfacilityandcontinuedtocreateandinnovatenewerandbetterdentureprocessingequipmentforthelocaldentalmarket,includinganewdentallathe–TheRedWingLathe.

Inthemid1930’sEdHandlerdecidedtomovehisfacilitytoKinneyStreetinNewark,NJacrossfromoneofhislargercustomers,theWmDixonCompany.Theninthelate1940’safterWWII,hemovedhisfacilitytoGarwood,NJinanew5,000squarefootfacility.ThereEdcontinuedtobuildcastflasksfordentures,crownandbridgeflasks,vulcanizers,RedWingLatheandanewerproduct–apolishingunit.Towardstheendofthe1950’s,EdHandlermetGeorgeDeCourcey,theVice-PresidentandGeneralManagerofAdererGoldandtheCosmosCompany.In1957,EdsoldthebusinesstoGeorgeDeCourceyandretired.

DeCourceycontinuedinthefamilytraditionofbuildingdurabledentallabequipment.In1963Georgehiredayoungengineer,BillLehman,whowasalsoGeorge’ssoninlaw.OverthenextyearbusinesstripledandHandler’sbusinesscontinuedtogrow,addingnewproductstotheirlineoflathes,forgeddentureflasks,sturdydenturepressesandcompresses,pluspolishingunits,dustcollectorsandotherproductsforvariousindustries.In1979BillLehmanpurchasedthecompanyfromGeorgeDeCourceyandcontinuedcreatingandbuildingnew,qualityproductsforthedental,jewelryandindustrialtrades.Continuinginthefamilytradition,Handlercontinuedtogrowandprosper.

Today,HandlerManufacturingCo.,Inc.isknownworldwidefortheirqualityproductswhicharebuiltataffordableprices.Unlikemany“manufacturers”today,Handlercontinuestobuildandmanufactureover90%oftheirproductsintheirfactoryinWestfield,NJ.Withinhousesheetmetalandmachineshop,Handlerhasthecapabilitytocustombuildoneproductorlargerquantitiesforcustomers.HandlerproductsaresoldexclusivelythroughauthorizeddealersanddistributorsandHan-dlerstaffmembersworkcloselywiththeendusertoprovideacustomdesignedlabfurniturelayoutorsuctionsystemfortheindividuallaboratory.

In2001,anewfamilymemberenteredtheHandlerbusiness.RickLaDucabroughtwithhimmuchexperienceanddiversebusinessbackgroundfromthecorporateworldincludingnewideasandcomputertechnology.In2004HandleraddedanewERPcomputersystem,whichhashelpedtoimprovequality,buildbetterandmoredurableproducts,plusdesignnewprod-uctsforthedentist’slabandmoderndentallab.Handlerrecentlydesignedandboughtoutaneweightflasktwostageelectriccuringsystemataverycompetitiveprice.NewProTechLitelineofworkstationdesignshavebeenaddedtoHandler’slineoflabfurniture,alongwithnewandmoreefficientcartridgefiltersystemsforourdustcollectors.Handlerisabletohelpthelabowneranddentistdesignalabwithanefficientworkflow,whileprovidingthemwithhighperformanceproductsataffordableprices.Alongwiththis,HandlerproductsaremanufacturedandbuiltintheUnitedStates,notinothercountries.
