If you have not noticed, there is a new face on the campus of PHS. Although we are sad Mrs. Warren relocated to Pelham Elementary School, we are excited Mr. Harvey is with us at the high school. He,
too, is excited to be here and says it is a great new experience for him. He enjoys guiding and forming structure in the lives of children and teenagers. He feels as a male role model, he can make a differ-ence in the lives of his students. In addition, Mr. Harvey’s passion is coaching because it gives him a
chance to show and teach the players what he has learned throughout his years of playing basketball. What he likes the most about teaching and coaching is the excitement the students have in their eyes
when they have learned something he has taught them. When he is not at school, he can be found spending time with his family, cooking, grilling,
playing cards, and texting. He has a very close family and is the youngest of four. Mr. Harvey graduated from Albany Tech College in 2008 where he majored
in Early Childhood Education. He now attends (ASU) Ashford State University, and has only four more classes to complete before he achieves his Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education. Mr. Harvey says great teachers and administrators inspired him to becoming an educational instructor. His goal is
to make an average student become an over achiever and make a gifted student push beyond even the highest expectations. PHS is fortunate to add Mr. Harvey to its staff of exceptional teachers.
Welcome to PHS, Mr. Harvey

Five Things to NOT Do When Being Interviewed
Do not use terms such as “I’m a problem solver “ and “I’m a team player”
Saying this will never get you recognized because interviewers hear it all the time.
Never say “I don’t have any weaknesses”
Everyone has weaknesses. The point of the question is not about how weak you are; it is about your honesty and self-awareness.
Do not give answers that are too short or too long The best answers are 1-2 minutes long.
Do not ask “What’s in it for me” Asking questions like this is an instant turn-off.
Do not look at your resume
This is a sign of either being nervous, you are ready to get out of the
interview, or you have fabricated something.

Seniors, Are You Ready for Life Beyond PHS?
Senior Lunch
Here at Second Chance Animal Rescue (SCAR), we accept pets regardless of their situation and see them through until
we find them an adoptive home. SCAR was started by a few employees of the Animal Medical
Center in Cairo, Georgia. We as care givers began to take in these animals and give them the vaccinations and medical care they needed; the funding was out of our pockets. We came together and created Second Chance Animal Rescue.
Now we are asking our animal loving friends to help us in our mission to save the lives of these dear animals that love us all unconditionally!
We are a non profit organization and rely solely on donations and adoptions for funding. Visit us today at
http://www.scar-rescue.com.
Meet George W. and Josey–
Both available for adoption.

In 2014, the new Tom Clancy game, The Division, will be coming out. What better way to get into the
videogame spirit than replaying the old games? Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas 2 was released March 18, 2008 and it is still one of the all-time favorites!
The game f o c u s s e s on killing terrorists
and saving h o s ta g e s from dan-
ger. Not only is the game itself difficult, addictive, and fun, but the graphics are also wondrously de-signed. If you have not already purchased this game,
you are missing out!

Song of the Week
Unapologetic Album
“Rihanna”
Rihanna’s song “What now” was released
in November 2012. Ratings for the song
increased daily and they still do. Rihanna is
a very popular artist among many people.
Even though the song was released last
year, the video was not. With high demand
from many of
her viewers,
Rihanna has
finally released
a video to coordinate with the song. In the
video, it shows Rihanna acting out from all
the different sorts of emotions that continue
to spread through her body since she does
not know how to deal with the pain. Many
people can relate! Not only were the view-
ers ready for the “What Now” video premi-
ere, but according to Rihanna’s personal
tweets, she also anticipated the freeing of
the video to the world.

Wrestling Match
On Tuesday, November 19th, the Hornets host-
ed a wrestling match in the Pelham High School Gymnasium against the Bainbridge Bearcats. The winners on the wrestling team were Tyler
McDonald, Austin Sharp, Austin Waters, and Britt Scarbrough. There were only two rounds held during this wrestling match. Each participant won at least one match. Coach Taylor stated,
“Everyone did a great job, and we know what we have to improve on.” The Hornets took a tough loss against the Bearcats, but everyone is now looking to
the next match. Come out and support the Hornets on Tuesday, November 26, when they go up against the Americus-Sumter Panthers.
This week’s Hornet Spotlight also shines brightly on PHS Senior Lorenzo Jackson. When this Hornet is not found on the PHS football field or wrestling
on the mat, you can find him striving to be an avid member of the Fellowship of Christian
Athletes. Lorenzo has participated in football
throughout his high school career, wrestled with the Hornets in 9th-11th grade and has
been a member of the FCA in 10th-12th
grade. Apart from school, Lorenzo likes to spend quality time with his family. He thor-
oughly enjoys throwing the football and playing basketball with his little brothers.
Lorenzo is also known for helping anyone in need and being a great mentor to
the younger generations. Lorenzo names Coach John Sirmon as his favorite teacher. He says Coach Sirmon has been by his side from the moment he first
became a teacher here at PHS. He has strived to show Lorenzo the correct way and guided him on the true path to graduating. Lorenzo’s advice to younger
Hornets is, “Do everything in your best power to pass all of your classes and
always give one-hundred percent in everything you choose to do.” After high school, Lorenzo aspires to attend Shorter University to pursue his dream in
building a career in criminal justice. Good luck, Lorenzo!
This week’s Hornet Spotlight shines brightly on PHS Senior Shondreka Jackson. When this Hornet is not hustling on the basketball court for the
Lady Hornets, you can find her being a dynamic member of the FBLA and
WBL. Shondreka has partaken in the
Lady Hornet basketball team all throughout her high school career, and
has participated as a member of the
FBLA and WBL her junior and senior years. When she is not focusing on her
academics, she loves to spend time with her two younger sisters, as well
as her boyfriend. Shondreka’s advice
to younger Hornets is to focus on grades throughout high school because the importance of your grades starts as soon as you enter high school and
will follow you until the end of your senior year. Shondreka names Mrs. Whigham as her favorite teacher because she has always made learning
interesting and refuses to allow any willing student to fail. She also states
that Mrs. Whigham has always strived to lead her in the right direction. After high school, Shondreka plans on attending Southwest Georgia Tech to re-
ceive a degree in nursing. Good luck, Shondreka!
