Funafuti, the capital city of Tuvalu in the South Pacific island has reached the highest sea level ever in this season.

Over the past 80 years, global warming caused about 10 cm rise in sea level.

Landfill = Emitting 0.27 million tons of CO2-e

Incineration = Emitting 8.49 million tons of CO2-e

In 2010, the global bottled water consumption was about 237 billion L ≈ 6.85 million tons of waste non-degradable PET plastic!

6

Recycled and processed into chips

for textiles =

Saving 7.59 million tons of CO2-e !!

*As compared with using virgin materials

Recycled polyester fabric - the mainstream eco product

7

Reasons of limited expansion of the recycled polyester market:

Uneconomical as raw material Instability of the recycled material Unable to meet quality expectations

1 kg PET bottle requires 3.12 L of crude oil. One PET bottle contains at least 90% of

reusable polyester fiber.

Carbon emission indicator Carbon reduction indicator

Clearly indicates the CO2-e emitted during the life cycle of the product, either single- or multiple-staged.

Indicates the amount of CO2-e of the product reduced in a certain period of time as planned.

Low-carbon mark Carbon-neutral mark

Indicates that the product has a lower carbon emission among equivalent products, or declares that the CO2-e emission of the product has been reduced to a certain level.

Indicates that the product has reached carbon neutral through carbon exchange.

Carbon level indicator Environmental indicator

Indicates the carbon level of the product among equivalent products by using grade, star or tier system.

Indicates other environmental impacts in addition to carbon emission.

Our carbon reduction commitments

DAAI aims to reduce the carbon footprints of its products by 3% within 3 years by:

1. Establishing an effective recycling management system to improve the purity of the recycled PET fiber.

2. Establishing a carbon reduction management system to promote ‘green procurement’.

3. Improving the functionality of the products (e.g. increasing dirt resistant properties, reducing fiber weight etc.).

4. Implementing carbon reduction measures in offices.

First phase:Promote carbon labeling

Second phase:Develop low-carbon mark

Recycling PET bottles for chip production in place of incineration:

Note: Calculations were made using WARM, USEPA, with an assumption of average bottle size 600 mL and 27 g in weight.

Recycled 254 million PET bottles

Saved 4.26 million L of crude oil

Reduced 16 million kg of CO2-e
