Amelia Lost

Anya’s Ghost Anya, embarrassed by her Russian immigrant family and self-conscious about her body, has given up on fitting in at school but falling down a well and making friends with the ghost there just may be worse.

Tells the story of Amelia Earhart's life--as a child, a woman, and a pilot--and describes the search for her missing plane.

In 1936 Berlin, fourteen-year-old Karl Stern, considered Jewish despite a non-religious upbringing, learns to box from the legendary Max Schmeling while struggling with the realities of the Holocaust.

Recounts the story from World War I in which two towns were leveled and almost two thousand people killed following the collision of two warships in Halifax Harbour and a blizzard that dumped over a foot of snow in the area.

After World War II the United States and Britain airlifted food and supplies into Russian-blockaded West Berlin and to lift the spirits of the children who were suffering there, USAF Lieutenant Gail Halvorsen began dropping chocolate and gum by parachute, soon becoming known and beloved as "Uncle Wiggly Wings." Illustrated with Lt. Halvorsen's personal photographs as well as letters and drawings from the children of Berlin.
