ATTENTION ADVERTISERS-DONT fall for this scam!! Beaware of a scam that has beenhappening across the US, aswell as in our area. A personcalls and wants to purchase theitem the advertiser has for sale,sometimes the call is relayedas if the person is hearingimpaired. Scammer promisesto send payment (a cashierscheck, money order or check)for the purchase price, plus anadditional amount to cover thecost of shipping the item (usu-ally to a location on the eastcoast, sometimes outside theU.S.). The checks are fake,the seller is actually only get-ting a piece of paper, not a realcheck. Scammer asks the sell-er to pay to ship the item, usingthe extra money included in thefake check. If the seller falls forthis scam, the scammer will getthe advertised item free, andthe seller will end up paying toship the item to the scammer(since the check was fake). So

the seller will lose the adver-tised item and the money toship it to the scammer. Dontfall for this scam!! If you arecontacted in this manner, andfeel it may be a scammer, con-tact your local PoliceDepartment.
