ThROUGh ThE EYES OF A ChIlD – ThIS YEAR’S POSTERWorld-renowned fine artist Ms. Susan Sommer-Luarca created this year’s limited edition poster powered by Ford. Depicting the view of the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest® Boat Parade from the eyes of a family is the essence of this year’s poster image. “It’s a simplistic view of the Greatest Show on H2O seen through the eyes of a young family”, notes President and CEO of Winterfest®, Lisa Scott-Founds. “As Winterfest® embarks on the next 40 years; we wanted our poster directed towards the next generation of Winterfest®.” This image reflects the children who have grown up with the event as part of their holiday celebration, and are now sharing this tradition with their family. The young models for the artwork are second generation Winterfest® kids – one being the son of an advisory member and the other is the nephew of the little boy portrayed in a similar image from the 1986 poster.

WINTERFEST® COMMODORE AND JR. CAPTAINIn honor of his dedication to the Parade and his community involvement, the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest® Boat Parade 2012 Commodore is John Haley. Haley’s engineering background has elevated the Parade’s staging along the New River for the past 5 years. John was honored this year at the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest® Black Tie Ball and will be part of the Parade along Fort Lauderdale waterways in true Commodore style on December 15, at 6:30 p.m.

In a unique twist, Facebook was used as a voting platform for this year’s Jr. Captain. Congratulations to Sydney Lister as the 2012 Winterfest® Jr. Captain. Lister was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer called Ewing’s Sarcoma on September 19, 2011 at the age of 15. Sydney’s Incredible Defeat of Ewing’s Sarcoma (SIDES) was quickly formed and qualified as a 501(c)(3) charity. Lister helped SIDES fundraise for pediatric cancer research and raised over $165,000 in ten short months.Sydney will be aboard the Carrie B with her family during the Parade. Please make sure you wave to her on December 15th!

Please enjoy our wines responsibly.

Guests started their night off right by enjoying the JM Lexus Welcome Reception. “Thank Goodness” the only ice we saw that night was the ice bar featuring a variety of Southern Wine & Spirits products, such as Absolut Vodka, Estancia Wines, Simply Naked Wines, Malibu Rum, and Avion Tequila.

Guests bid on an array of amazing silent auction items in the Fidelity Investments Silent Auction featuring more than 250 coveted items, such as sparkling jewels, travel packages, art, sports memorabilia, and so much more. Starting at 8p.m., guests were welcomed into a breath-taking, awe-inspiring ballroom that was “Defying Gravity” thanks to the vision of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino special events team. Guests were treated to a gourmet dinner and became enchanted by a spell-binding “WICKED” performance, featuring Glinda & Elphaba straight from Broadway.

The 2012 Belle of the Ball – Lily Pardo, who along with Winterfest® Black Tie Ball Chairwomen Susan Renneisen and Kara Wolf, were dazzling in gowns designed by Zola Keller.
