Runnin’ Iron®
EXCLUSIVELY FROM TAYLOR’S & CO.
Taylor’s & Co. is proud to introduce the Runnin’ Iron, a light, efficient, balanced single-action pistol designed
specifically for the sport of Mounted Shooting. It is now a favorite of some ground shooters as well. Inspired
by mounted shooter and Wild West entertainer Denny Chapman and designed by third-generation Wild West
showman and gunsmith Deke Rivers, the Runnin’ Iron has been created by cowboys with years of black
powder, blank shooting experience in the harshest environments. Offered in stainless steel or blue finish, the
Runnin’ Iron features a low-and-wide hammer spur; a checkered, one-piece, gunfighter-style grip in walnut;
a wide trigger; second-generation transverse cylinder pin latch; crescent-style ejector rod; and extra clearance
at the front and rear of the cylinder. These features make the Runnin’ Iron the lightest and most efficient
mounted shooting gun on the market. The Runnin’ Iron deluxe comes ready to shoot out of the box featuring
custom tuning with reduced-power spring kit. Non-tuned options available as shown below.
The Runnin’ Revolving Carbine is a modified version of the popular
Revolving Carbine model. Taylor’s & Co. has added a low-and-wide
hammer similar to the Runnin’ Iron. A custom action allows for a
smooth, light hammer pull and lightened trigger pull. The Runnin’
Revolving Carbine is an excellent piece for mounted shooters.
Manufactured with forged frame.

1872 Open-Top Revolvers
Designed by Major George Schofield to be operated with one hand while on horseback, a break-open pistol was
ideal for mounted soldiers in the U.S. Cavalry. Shooters could easily eject all six spent cartridges and reload
while on horseback. The top break pistol also proved useful to the likes of Jesse James and Wild Bill Hickok.
The Schofield features a blue frame, barrel, and backstrap; and a case-hardened trigger guard.
The Schofield Russian was a favorite side arm of the Russian government. Modeled after the Smith & Wesson
Schofield, this revolver features a blue frame, barrel, and hump-backed backstrap; walnut grips; lanyard ring;
and a case-hardened trigger guard with trigger spur.

Although it appears to be a conversion, the model 1872 Open
Top was Colt’s® first revolver specifically manufactured to
fire a cartridge. Since Colt• did not use percussion revolver
parts, the revolver was manufactured as an entirely new
model, first with Navy-sized grips, later with Army-sized
grips. All come standard with case-hardened frame and blue
barrel finish. Nickel finish frame and barrel are available;
add N00 to model number.

Introduced by Smith & Wesson in 1885, the New Model No. 3 Frontier
had a long cylinder that could fire a .44 Winchester® cartridge. Initially,
2,072 were produced. When sales did not take off as expected, almost 40
percent of those were modified and sold to a Japanese customer, Takata
& Company. That left only 1,286 original revolvers in circulation. The
company discontinued the model in 1908.

This versatile firearm provides for an easy transition from black powder to centerfire
cartridges. The gun’s original frames were dovetailed to allow the ejector assembly to slide
into place. A loading-lever screw, passing through from the left side of the frame, secures
the ejector assembly. A small notch cut into the loading lever creates a rest for the L-shaped
tip of the ejector rod. The firearm is steel with steel backstrap and brass trigger guard.

Fits only models 1000 and 1004. SOLD SEPARATELY.
With patents for the conversion of percussion revolvers, Colt® employees Charles
Richards and William Mason cut off the cap-and-ball cylinders at the back and
installed a conversion ring to accept cartridges. These conversion revolvers were
favorites then and are enjoying popularity again as part of the sport of Cowboy
Action Shooting. All come standard with case-hardened frame and blue barrel
finish. Nickel finish frame and barrel are available; add N00 to model number.

The 1875 Army Outlaw Revolver is
a faithful reproduction of the 1875
Remington® single-actions, which kept
the solid frame and overall styling of
Remington’s 1858 percussion models.
Ordinary citizens and Old West lawmen
alike recognized the sturdy quality of the
new Remington revolvers. The infamous
Frank James even carried one for most
of his outlaw career. The reproduction
is available in his favorite caliber, .45
Colt®, and features a steel backstrap and
two-piece walnut grip. This model is
manufactured using a casted frame.

The 1875 Army Outlaw Revolver retained much of the overall styling of Remington’s 1858 percussion revolver, including the bottom blade.
The 1890 Army Police Revolver was manufactured from
1890 to 1896 in very small numbers. It is one of the most
prized cowboy revolvers among Old West collectors. Of
the fewer than 2,000 produced, only a handful ever saw
service as police revolvers — and those, primarily as side
arms on Native American reservations. The
1890 Army Revolver comes with a lanyard ring, just
like the original. It features a two-piece walnut grip.
This model is manufactured using a casted frame.
LEFT: Remington entered the single-action revolver market with the 1890 Army Police Revolver, with a style similar to the Colt®.
RIGHT: Like the original, the 1890 Army Police Revolver includes a lanyard ring.

The 1851 Navy, produced from 1851
to 1872, was the most famous of the
cap-and-ball era for good reason. The
6-shot offers perfect balance, precise
aim, and dependability. Taylor’s & Co.
offers a wide selection of calibers,
barrel lengths, and frame styles of
this gun, which has come to symbolize
the days of the stagecoach, Pony
Express, and the Civil War.
The 1860 Army was adopted as U.S. government ordnance because
of its lighter weight, improved balance, and superior ballistics. This
6-shot, .44 caliber, round-barrel percussion revolver became very popular
with mounted troops and went on to be the issue sidearm for the U.S.
Army for many years.
With a 9-inch, round barrel and weighing more than four pounds, the Colt® Walker was a weapon for the
toughest soldiers and lawmen on the frontier. Prior to the introduction of the .357 Magnum in 1935, no
revolver was more powerful. Inspired by Captain Samuel H. Walker of the U.S. Mounted Rifles, it fired
.44 caliber balls “cast 32 to the pound.” The deadly effects of the Walker’s power during the Mexican
War proved once and for all that revolvers had a place in battle. Features a blue finish and case-hardened
frame. R&D Conversion Cylinder available; see pages 20-21.

This U.S. Cavalry Carbine model of the Springfield Trapdoor perfectly follows the
original. After the Civil War ended in 1865, muzzle-loading muskets were replaced
with metallic cartridge rifles. During the transition, several models emerged to
become the American military standard, remaining so even four decades later,
during the Spanish-American War in 1898 and 1899.
Pedersoli products feature high-quality wood-to-metal fit and finish. The manufacturer
strives to recreate products that have authentic features and superior quality. Davide
Pedersoli’s products are famous all over the world for quality, working reliability, and
ballistic precision.
This Sharps rifle model comes originally from the
transformation of a cavalry model; retaining the patchbox
from the cavalry model. The European walnut stock and
forend are checkered with an oil finish and feature a
German silver cap. The following calibers are available by

Springfield TrapdoorSome sporting rifles are just too good to die; a classic example is the 1886. Originally created by genius
gunsmith John Moses Browning and produced from 1897 to 1935, it has been resurrected by Chiappa Firearms
as the 1886 Lever Action Rifle. An accurate reproduction of the original — except for 21st century technology —
the new 1886 is machined to exact tolerances to assure interchangeability of parts. It uses modern metallurgy
with a twist-rate suitable for today’s ammunition. It is the perfect choice for serious hunters looking for hard-
hitting lever action to drop any North American big-game animal.

The product of a number of designs patented by Andrew Burgess between 1873 and 1882,
the Colt®-Burgess Rifle was an enhancement of the Whitney-Burgess. Marketed by Colt, the
product had a short run, though no fault of its own. Colt stopped making lever action guns
in 1884 after producing only 3,810 rifles and 2,593 carbines, when Winchester, threatened by
Colt’s encroachment into the lever action rifle business, made it known that it planned to go
after Colt’s single-action revolver business.
The Lever Action 1886/71 rifle has a 5-round magazine and is drilled and tapped to be equipped
with a Creedmoor sight. The barrel and magazine plug are blue finished. The checkered pistol
grip stock and forend are made of selected walnut. Premium versions are available by special
order, and feature a case-hardened frame. PMG Barrel and solid steel locking lugs. Ultra light
Microcell memory butt plate. Rear Sight with elevation and windage adjustments and a tunnel

In October 1860, B.T. Henry was granted a patent for the design of a new gun, a repeating rifle that used metallic cartridges. It was the first
repeating rifle in history. With it, one man could load 15 cartridges in eight to ten seconds. That was the equivalent of 15 men armed with
traditional firearms. It was such an important innovation that the gun was named after its inventor, Henry, and its cartridges bore his initial, H.
All models feature a walnut stock with 13-round capacity. The barrel has an integrated magazine tube; total firearm length is 43-3/4”.

Runnin’ Comanchero Carbine
The Runnin’ Comanchero Carbine is specifically designed with the mounted shooter in
mind. The rifle, with its short, 16-1/8” barrel, is versatile and lightweight. The rear sight
dovetail is filled and the front sight rounded for ease of removal from the scabbard. The
Runnin’ Comanchero Carbine has a blue frame and a round barrel. It features custom
links and a short-stroke action. An elk leather butt cover and lever wrap complete the
piece. This firearm is a great companion to the Runnin’ Iron revolver. Factory rear sight
is included in the box with the firearm.
In its day, the 1873 was the first 1873 available with a broad variety of options. Today,
an array of options is still offered on fine reproduction models like this introduction
by Taylor’s & Co. The 1873 Comanchero Rifle is ready for the cowboy shooter. Each
one comes with a buckskin lever wrap, an elk butt stock cover, short-stroke links, and
a gold-bead front sight. All Comanchero models feature custom tuning.
Features case-hardened frame and straight stock with checkering.
Available with full octagon barrel. Ideal option for any shooter who
likes the look of checkering and an enhanced grip.

1873 Sporting Rifle, Half Octagonal BarrelShown with checkered, pistol-grip stock.
The 1866 was already quite popular when the smaller, yet quite similar, 1873 model was
released. It became an immediate favorite.
The Winchester Repeating Arms Company may have thought that domestic military
sales would make up most of the orders for the firearm, but in fact, civilian sales and
international military purchases were what brought in profit that year.
In that day, the 1873 was the first lever action available with a broad variety of options.
Today, an array of options is still offered on fine reproduction models by Taylor’s & Co.
1873 Taylor’s TrapperShown with checkered, pistol-grip stock.
Ladies & Youth 1873 CarbineAvailable with blue frame, round barrel.
Available with either checkered pistol-grip or straight stock, this lightweight gun allows faster movement on target groups. It
features a tapered, octagonal barrel and holds 10 rounds of .38 Sp. and .45 LC ammunition, as required for SASS competition.
Taylor’s is pleased to introduce this 1873 Carbine, with the comfort and handling designed for smaller shooters, such as women and youths.
It features a 16-1/8”, round barrel and weighs noticeably less than a standard 1873 model. The rifle is chambered in .357 Mag./.38 Sp.,
resulting in very little recoil. A leather butt cover and gold-bead front sight complete the carbine, delivering comfort and ease of use.
Holds ten rounds of .38 Sp. ammunition.

When Nelson King patented his new loading system, he could not have known that his 1866 model would play a prominent part in the
winning of the West. The 1866, or “Yellowboy,” as it was famously known because of its shiny brass frame, was the successor to the Henry.
Production began in 1866 and continued through 1898, a period when both rifles and carbines were introduced.

1866 RifleSporting model shown.
The 1892 Rifle was mechanically stronger and less costly to produce than the ’73. A total of 1,004,675 of the 1892s, in both solid and
takedown models, were manufactured from 1892 to 1941. Taylor’s & Co. is proud to offer reproductions of these favorites. The rifles feature
case-hardened frames and blue barrel finish.
One of the most popular lever actions of all time, the 1892 Carbine was designed by John M. Browning. This smaller version of his Model
1886 used the popular short cartridges of the 1873 but had a simplified elevator and feeding system.

Best known as a buffalo-hunting gun, the Sharps sporting rifle
became known as “Old Reliable” by those who hunted buffalo
for their hides. Among those associated with the rifles were
Billy Dixon, Buffalo Bill Cody, Bat Masterson and others who
used the big single-shot to maximum effect on the seemingly
endless herds of buffalo.
Reproducing the Sharps at a reasonable price was a challenge
for modern manufacturers because of its sliding breechblock
and many angles and corners. It has been accomplished,
however, and Taylor’s & Co. is proud to offer the colorful, high-quality 1874 Sporting Rifle in a variety of barrel lengths and
calibers for hunting and target shooting.
Sharps Collection 1874 Metallic Cartridge Half-Pint Sharps
1874 Sharps
1874 Sharps Cavalry
A 20-percent smaller version of the original Sharps rifle, with the same reliable design as its namesake, the classic Half-Pint Sharps
is a lighter, smaller-caliber rifle. The double-trigger firearm weighs 5.9 lbs. and features a case-hardened frame and blue barrel.
Manufactured by Chiappa Firearms, Ltd.
A rich version of the Sharps model, with an elegant white finish already tempered on the metal parts.
Oil finished American walnut stock with checkering. The pewter tip is cast in the wood according to the
original tradition. The patch box is precision inlaid in the stock. The barrel features a 3/8” dovetail steel base with silver blade front sight. The rear sight is a steel flip-up ladder sight with elevation marked at
800 yards. The tang is pre-drilled for Creedmore sight placement at 2-1/4”.

1842 Springfield DefarbedThe 1859-1863 black powder rifles were widely used in the Civil War. Taylor’s & Co. is proud to offer sporting versions of the black powder
target shooter, in both the 1859 Infantry Sharps model, with a single trigger, and the 1859 Berdan Military Sharps model, with a double-set trigger. Two models of carbines are also available: the 1859 Cavalry Sharps Carbine with Patch Box, and the 1863 Cavalry Sharps Carbine
without Patch Box. All models feature case-hardened frames and blue barrel finish, and are made for use with .54 caliber, paper cartridges.
The 150th Anniversary of the Civil War is upon us and during the next few years, many articles and projects will be produced to
remember this time in United States history. This is certainly a major mile marker in the history of muzzle-loading firearms. For the
150th Anniversary of the Civil War, Chiappa Firearms and Taylor’s & Co. have developed a series of firearms commemorating the five years
of this war period. Our first is the ‘Defarbed 1842 Smoothbore Musket,’ which represents the anniversary of the Battle of Manassas.
This model features the lock with stamping noting 1847 and Springfield. An optional lock is sold separately stamped 1847 and Harper’s
Ferry to depict the various battles where this musket was used. It is one of the most accurate “production model” replicas being re-
manufactured. All proofs and non-historic marks are hidden under the stock to preserve an authentic “historic” appearance. The Defarbed
Model 1842 is NSSA Approved. The musket includes a certificate of authenticity and a brass medallion featuring the model and serial
number. Note: The brass plate is not mounted on the musket and is easily removable.
Both the Harpers Ferry and Springfield Armories produced the Model 1842 U.S. Percussion Musket in great numbers from 1844 to 1855.
The Model 1842 was notable in several aspects, mainly that it was a .69 caliber musket. Additionally, it was the first weapon made at
both the Harpers Ferry and Springfield Armory with completely interchangeable parts. Harpers Ferry produced 103,000 while Springfield
produced 172,000 for a total production surpassing a quarter of a million arms.

The 1842 U.S. Percussion Musket, notable for being a .69-caliber musket, was the first weapon made at both the Harpers
Ferry and Springfield Armories, with completely interchangeable parts. More than a quarter of a million of the muskets were
manufactured from 1844 to 1855; Harpers Ferry Armory produced 103,000, and Springfield Armory produced 172,000 of the
1842 model. Our reproductions are true to original measurements. NSSA approved.
Taylor’s & Co. is proud to offer a recreation of a firearm first produced by Christopher Miner Spencer, one of the leading figures of the
machine tool industry.
When Spencer originally produced an 1860 model carbine, it was different from any other firearm. It was accurate; fired rapidly; had a
long effective range; and held seven metallic cartridges that weren’t affected by moisture. It could be fired more rapidly than a Colt®-style
revolver and reloaded in one-tenth the time.
In 1865, the gunmaker delivered the 1865 Spencer Carbine, modified to correct flaws inherent in the 1860 design. Today, the 1865 Spencer, in
carbine and rifle, has been recreated by Taylor’s & Co. and Armi Chiappa. It features a case-hardened frame, blue barrel, and walnut stock.

Howdah HunterThe guns signed by Nicolas-Noël Boutet were
famous for their technical perfection and
matchless artistic sense. This elegant percussion
model made by Pedersoli features a blue barrel
and the stock high on the muzzle. The sturdy
grip with fine checkering on the sides provides
a robust grip sensation and is completed with a
metal butt plate. The ramrod has a horn tip at
one end. The gun is equipped with a double-set trigger. On the lock, two lines are engraved with
MANUF RE / a Versailles.

The Kentucky Rifle is one of the most popular American long guns. It is furnished with a brass butt plate, trigger guard, large patch box,
side plate thimbles, and nose cap. The one-piece stock is oil-finished walnut, and the lock plate is case-hardened. Features a blue barrel finish;
brass blade front sight; and steel, open rear sight. The bore is rifled with 8 grooves.
The popularity of the Rocky Mountain Hawken rifle, along with suggestions from target shooters and hunters, led to Pedersoli’s development
of the Missouri River Hawken in two calibers and twists. Available with maple or walnut stock, the gun has an octagonal, cross-section
barrel with a rust brown finish and a case-hardened lock. Equipped with a double-set trigger, the Missouri River Hawken is ideal for target
shooting and hunting.

Kentucky PistolThe Kentucky Pistol is the perfect
companion to the Kentucky Rifle. It
features a birdshead-grip stock, blue barrel
finish, brass ramrod thimbles, and a case-hardened side lock. The blade front sight is
brass and open rear sight is steel.
Kentucky PistolPercussion
A carbine version of the Pennsylvania rifle, thanks to its easy handling, it was mostly used by the famous Scout, that led the
pioneers’ caravans through the Western territories. It is provided with double set trigger, and ramp rear sight adjustable for
elevation. Calibers .45 and .50 are available by special order. Flintlock model available by special order.
Scout Percussion Model
The Rocky Mountain Hawken was symbolic of the transition from heavy, small-caliber long rifles to more practical and powerful plains rifles.
First produced in 1840 by brothers Jacob and Samuel Hawken in their St. Louis gunshop, the firearm also marked the end of the flintlock in
favor of the more modern percussion system. With a strong, larger caliber barrel, the Rocky Mountain Hawken provided energy and accuracy
that soon made it a constant companion of mountain men. Features a maple stock, rust-brown barrel, case-hardened finish, and double-set trigger.

Black Powder Riflesand 1865 spencers
The hammer coach gun reproduction is an Old West classic. Its namesake was
carried by many stagecoach, railroad, and payroll guards.
The model features a double-barrel and Victorian-era, rebounding mule-ear
external hammers. The pistol grip stock features laser checkering and an attractive,
color case-hardened frame. The gun has double triggers and is chambered for
3-inch shells. The fit and finish are much improved from the 1878 Coach Gun and
the quality is highly regarded among competitive Cowboy Action Shooters.
Double-Barrel Hammer Coach GunProduced by the Wm. Malcolm Rifle Telescope Company during the late 1800s, the company’s
rifle telescopes were considered the finest of their day. Taylor’s & Co. is proud to offer the finest
rifle telescopes of our day, close duplicates of the Wm. Malcolm originals.
Two basic models, the long 1860s-1870s style and the shorter 1880s-1890s style, cover all scoping
needs. These scopes work for every rifle from late-model percussion muzzle-loaders, through
the black powder cartridge rifle era, to the early smokeless cartridge rifles. Both models come
standard with authentically-styled mounts.
Designed by John Browning for the Winchester Repeating Arms
Company, this model was considered the first of many successful
repeating shotguns. A favorite of collectors and cowboy action shooters,
the firearm is also ideal for hunting, with a five-shell magazine plus one
in the chamber. It is fast and accurate, with a reliable safety. Stock and
forearm are American walnut. Features case-hardened frame and blue
barrel. Blue frame finish available; specify when ordering. Weighs 6.6 lbs.

The Wyatt Earp side-by-side shotgun can be easily opened with one hand, allowing for fast shell
loading. Shell extraction is quick, and the hammers are easy to cock. The walnut pistol-grip stock
is checkered, and the case-hardened frame has WYATT EARP stamped on it. Chromed barrel
bores are blue finished; sturdy hammers can be cocked together in a simple manner. The Wyatt
Earp shotgun by Pedersoli is functional and performs well for the Cowboy Action Shooter.

firearms. The Deluxe Creedmore Sights are adjustable for windage and
elevation and are calibrated with a .040 diameter sighting hole on a

Soule-Type Creedmore Sights Manufactured by Pedersoli
The high-precision, Soule-type tang sight is the

to center or to previous setting is another big
advantage offered by the sights. Provides ample
windage movement for any shooting condition.

matching double-magazine holders. Each holster is hand crafted around
a 1911 for a perfect fit. The holster rides high on the belt and angles

leather-lined belt is metal reinforced.
A nod to favorite Old West movies and actors, the
Laredoan belt is adorned with six engraved, silver-plated
conchos from Montana Silversmith. Cut from quality,
vegetable-tanned leather, the rig is fully suede-leather
lined and has twenty-four hand-molded bullet loops.
The holster comes with your choice of silver-plated
concho or personalized silver-plated initial.

Taylor’s & Co. proudly markets finely-crafted
historical firearms for the collector. Manufactured
using precise modern machinery and high-quality modern materials, these firearms are
faithful reproductions of those originally
designed in the nineteenth century.
In choosing to own or use historical firearms,
the user must recognize that there have been
significant advances in firearm design and safety
in the years since these firearms were designed.
It is vital that users be familiar with their
firearms and possible safety risks inherent in the
design of those firearms.
Most significantly, the user should realize that
the design of safeties—or even the presence
of adequate safeties—varies significantly
on historical designs and does not offer the
protection against accidental discharge that
modern firearm safeties achieve.
Similarly, any firearm that is fired using black
powder (or Pyrodex®) carries basic risks not
found in modern cartridge firearms. Black
powder is a dangerous explosive and must be
used and handled with extreme caution. The
slightest miscalculation or carelessness with
black powder or black powder firearms can result
in serious injuries to the user.
