Shots were made by Dani Coumbs (2), Marcela Montoya (1) and Vala Kristin Theodorsdottir. “It was a great test against a very strong Maryland team, who are great com- petitors in the Big Ten,” said Interim Head Coach Josh Moffet. “I am proud of the efforts tonight from the whole team. It was tough to go down early, but the team stuck together and showed the fight to get back into it.” • Last Sunday, Georgia Southern hosted an exhibition match against Jack- sonville where the Eagles won 2-1. Freshman Dani Coumbs made her first collegiate goal in the game. Sophomore Nora Falnes, a transfer from Kansas State, scored the other goal for the Eagles. • The Eagles and the Bulldogs have faced each other 13 times with the last meeting being in 2013 due to Georgia Southern Athletics moving to the Sun Belt Conference. In 2013, the Eagles won 3-2 at The Citadel. Georgia South- ern leades the series 9-4. • Next up, The Eagles will travel to Boiling Spring, NC to play Gardner-Webb on Friday, Aug. 30. On September 1, the women will be back in Statesboro for their first home regular season match on Eagle Field. • The women will be led by Interim Head Coach, Josh Moffet, and his staff. Coach Moffet was announced as Interim Head Coach on August 5. • Last season the Eagles had a 5-12 record with three Sun Belt Conference wins.
