Sharing the Magic of Live TheatreWelcome to The Acting Company, your non-profit community theatre. It was about 28 years ago that it all started as “Theatre 86.” After finding our current home in 1992, we changed the name to “The Acting Company.”2012 will bring us seven Mainstage shows and six Magic Theatre productions. In addition, we will continue our monthly Saturday morning Children’s Acting Classes and a Summer Theatre Workshop which will culminate in the production of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs of the Black Forest” in September.Although we are a community theatre, many top productions and top actors have graced our stage. Over the past few years, we have received scores of nominations for “Elly Awards” by the 85 member Sacramento Area Regional Theatre Alliance (SARTA). In 2011, we received an astounding 17 nominations and seven awards, including for Best Overall Children’s Play, “Wolf Side Story” (which also won three other awards).We must give kudos to our more than 100 actors, more than 50 other volunteers and our board members each year for their dedication to producing quality theatre.The magic of live theatre cannot happen without the generous support of our patrons and local businesses and organizations. AuditionsThe Acting Company is always looking for new actors and volunteers. Open auditions are held for each show. Prior to each audition, the audition date and a list of available parts will be listed on our website at www.actingcompany.org under the “Auditions” tab. Or you can call (530) 751-1100 during box office hours, which are Monday through Friday from noon ‘till 2:00.
VolunteersThe Acting Company is a volunteer run theatre, with many volunteer tasks available. We offer many different opportunities for the community to be involved. Volunteer tasks include: set construction, painting, costumes, props, lighting and sound, box office help, poster postings, stage manager, director, publicity, fundraising, ticket and special event sales, program sales and MORE! Young People’s TheatreWe are proud and excited to offer a great children’s program consisting of six Magic Theatre productions each year, Saturday morning acting classes and Summer Theatre Workshops which this year will culminate in the production of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs of the Black Forest” in September.Saturday morning children’s acting classes generally run the first four Saturdays of each month (except for December, July and August). The times are from 10:00 until 11:30 and the cost is a nominal $5.00 per week! The classes are designed to introduce and develop acting and theatre skills to children ages 6-16. Theatre can be a life-changing experience for many children as it builds confidence, teamwork skills and leadership skills. The monthly topics will be posted on our website a few weeks before each session. To make a reservation for your child, e-mail us at [email protected] or call (530) 751-1100 weekdays between noon and 2:00.This Summer, we will again offer our Children’s Summer Theatre Workshops. These daily workshop sessions teach the basics of acting and attendees will have the opportunity to appear in the September production of “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs of the Black Forest.” The first workshop session, to be held June 19th-29th, is for children ages 6-11. The second session, for children 12-16, runs from July 10th-20th. Classes will meet those weeks Monday through Thursday from 2:00 until 3:30. The tuition for each session is $125.00. Sign-ups will begin on June 1st by calling the box office Monday through Friday between noon-2:00 at (530) 751-1100 or e-mail us at [email protected].

Stones is a Dramedy set in a small Irish town. The locals are cast as extras in a Hollywood production and as the two cultures meet on a movie set the misunderstandings begin. Two actors perform 15 characters in this offbeat and fast paced show.
Vincent is a one-man show based on the play “Van Gogh” by Phillip Stephens. Leonard Nimoy wrote and starred in this play.

Season TicketholderAs a season ticketholder, you have a standing order for the weekends of your choice, for each of the seven Mainstage shows and ther performance time of your choice. In addition, your seat(s) will remain the same for the 2012 season--unless, of course, you request a change. Once again, at just $90.00, our season ticketholder package gives you seven shows for the price of six.
Actor’s PassIt’s the same as buying six tickets for the price of five! At just $75.00, you can use your Actor’s Pass for the performances you desire. Just contact the box office at (530) 751-1100 and make your seat reservations and let us know you have an Actor’s Pass. It is that simple. Great idea for gifts, too.
Lifetime MembershipNever worry about buying another ticket. Become a Lifetime Member and you’ll have a ticket for every play and musical on the Mainstage and Magic Theatre stage at The Acting Company for life! Memberships are $1000.00 per individual. You are not limited to a particular performance or seat (unless you want to be). Plus, you know your generous purchase is greatly benefitting our community theatre!
