Brahms Quintet for Clarinet and Strings in B minor, Op. 115

ONE MIGHT NOT IMAGINE “BASSOON” AND “PYROTECHNICS” IN THE SAME SENTENCE, but the

section of Telemann’s Tafelmusik featured this evening is a true tour de force for the instrument. Composer Michael Alec Rose of Vanderbilt University will be on hand to introduce his tender work, Graces, Furies for piano trio. The program culminates in a performance of the Brahms Clarinet Quintet, truly one of the greatest works in the chamber music repertoire.
