SECULAR HUMANISMJULY 1
Bible Reading: I Corinthians 14:33-40Key Verse: 40- Let all things be done decently and in order.Key Words: decently and in order
In order to better understand the meaning of the term secular humanism we
need to break the term down. First, secularmeans worldly or that which opposes
the spiritual and sacred. Secondly, the word human means a person or people.
Thirdly, the suffix ism means how one thinks. So secular humanism is the thought
process of a person who opposes that which is spiritual or sacred.
Some of the secular humanists beliefs would be hilarious if it wasnt so serious.
For example secular humanists believe that there are no absolutes. If there are no
absolutes, how can they say absolutely that there are none? Another belief of secular humanism is there is no such thing as total truth. If
that is the case, then their statement that there is no such thing as totaltruth would be false.
I read sometime back about a pastor who was visiting with a farmer who was asecular humanist. The pastor asked, Can you not look at the trees and flowers
and see the creation of God?
To which the farmer replied, Those trees and flowers arent there. They are just
a figment of your imagination.
Then the pastor said, What about us? We are standing here talking. Is this all
just a figment of our imagination?
Yes sir, replied the humanist. Then the pastor walked away, went over to the old farmers milk cow, tied a rope
around her neck, and began to walk away with his cow when the humanist cried out,
Where are you going with my cow?
What cow, replied the pastor, its just a figment of your imagination!
When absolutes and truth are removed from a society, confusion and
anarchy reign!
What to do: If Christ rules on the inside, confusion cant.

SECULAR HUMANISM OR THE GOLDEN RULEJULY 2
Bible Reading: Matthew 7:6-12Key Verse: 12- Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you,do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
Key Words: do ye even so to them
The following excerpt is taken from the secular humanists book Free Inquiry:
The Golden Rule, Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, orsimilar words, is not a Christian invention. Versions of it occur in the Old and NewTestaments (see Matthew 7:12 for one version). But versions of it also occur in
many other places, including in texts that predate the New Testament and that arenot part of the Judeo-Christian heritage. For example, Confucius is believed to havewritten, about 500 years before the start of the Common/Christian era, Do to everyman as thou wouldst have him do to thee; and do not unto another what thouwouldst not have done to thee.
If there are no absolutes, how can secular humanists be sure that Christiansdidnt invent The Golden Rule? By the way, Christians didnt! But neither did
Confucius or any other man! God invented The Golden Rule, and God predates allversions of everything. John 1:1, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word waswith God, and the Word was God. You can count on that!!
What to do: Dont just commit The Golden Rule to memory; commit it to life.
SECULAR HUMANISTS AND ETHICSJULY 3
Bible Reading: Exodus 20:1-17
Key Verse: 1-And God spake all these words, saying,Key Words:And God spake
The Ten Commandments are also a code for ethical Godly living; and we, asBible-believing Christians, have a Biblical code of ethics. But did you know that thereare organizations such as The International Humanists and Ethics Association (andyes, they do have their own code of ethics) which state Ethics is a search for viable

individual, social, and political principles of conduct, judged by ones ability toenhance human well-being and individual responsibility?
But secular humanists leave God out of their moral code, and when you leaveGod out, you no longer have ethics, you have an epidemic called sin.
Lying, cheating, and stealing are becoming an "acceptable norm among high-
school and college students, says Ralph Wexler, speaking for the Joseph and EdnaJosephson Institute of Ethics. In a recent survey, the Institute reported that 61percent of the high-school and 32 percent of the college students polled admitted tohaving cheated on an exam during the past year; 33 percent of the high-school and16 percent of college students said they'd stolen something in the last year; and 16percent of the high-school and 32 percent of the college students said they'd lied ona resume or job application. (National and International Religion Report, quoted inSigns of the Times, June, 1993, p. 6.)
You cant leave God out and have ethics. Without God the inmates will run theinstitution. What a shame!
What to do:
Allow God to be the cornerstone for all you do.
SECULAR HUMANISM AND PATRIOTISMJULY 4
Bible Reading: Psalm 33:12 & Proverbs 14:22-35
Key Verse: verse 12 & 33-12
Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD; and thepeople whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.33Wisdom resteth in theheart of him that hath understanding: but that which is in the midst of fools is madeknown.
Key Words: Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord
In the last presidential campaign our President who was then only a candidatefor president was rebuked by some for not putting his hand over his heart during the
National Anthem and the raising of the American flag. President Obama then madethis statement in his defense. Patriotism is not in whether you are a Republican or aDemocrat, but patriotism is in your love for your country, no matter what yourpolitical views may be.
While I understand what the President was saying, I also understand whatsecular humanists fail to understand, and that is without God there is no realpatriotism. Secular humanists battle with the words under God in our Pledge ofAllegiance; but again, one cannot be truly patriotic until they understand that true

patriotism sees America as being a nation, not controlled by mankind, but controlledby God.
Our countrys Pledge of Allegiance was written especially for children in 1892 asa part of a celebration for Columbus Day in public schools all across our land. Theoriginal version first appeared in an educational publication called The Youths
Companion on September 8, 1892. It read: I pledge allegiance to my flag and therepublic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.The author, Francis Bellamy, was an assistant editor for the Companion. It wasintended to be used just for the 400th anniversary of Columbus discovery, but itspopularity led to an annual tradition. The pledge later became a daily ritual at schoolrooms throughout the country.
In 1923, the first revision was made: my flag was replaced with the words theflag of the United States of America. Then in 1954, President Eisenhower signed a
bill at the peoples urging that added the words under God.You see, in 1954 people understood that there could be no true patriotism until a
nation has submitted itself, not to mans rule or authority, but to Gods rule andauthority.
God bless America and He can only do that as we are one nation under God.
What to do: Dont be timid or intimidated by the secular humanists. We are safe
under God.
SECULAR HUMANISM, THE ACLU, ANDSEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE
JULY 5
Bible Reading: Colossians 1:1-20Key Verse: 18- And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the
firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
Key Words: and he is head of the body, the church
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion,
Under the banner of separation of church and state, secularist humanists and
the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) have attacked just about every symbol
that has been in place for well over 200 years, including the demand that In God
We Trust be removed from any official seals, documents and even our currency.
They have even gone to court to demand that a miniscule cross be removed from

the illustration of a Spanish mission (which is historically correct) that is part of the
Los Angeles, California city seal. The real purpose is to institute the secular
humanist policies they desire under the guise of separation of church and state.
When viewed in a historical context, many of the principles of the Christian-Judeo
tradition were the basis for our government, society and morals, although, unlike
Muslim governments, the guarantees built into to our Constitution recognize theimportance of religious freedom.
Lets read it again. Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of
religion. The point is that the government cannot establish a state religion as they
did in England with the Church of England. In essence the government is to stay out
of the church business, but nowhere do we find where the church is to stay out of
government.
Christ is Head of the church and for government to say the church is to play norole in government is the same as saying, Christ isnt welcome here! How
deplorable!! But this is the belief of secular humanists who want God, not only out of
government, but out of our families and our nation as well. This can only happen if
we fall for the lies of secular humanists. I encourage you, know your Bible and live
by it.
What to do: Know the truththerein lies our freedom.
SECULAR HUMANISM AND SEPARATION OF CHURCHAND STATE, PART TWO
JULY 6
Bible Reading: Romans 13:1-9Key Verse: 3-For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then
not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of thesame:
Key Words: for rulers are not a terror to good works
The Appignani Humanist Legal Center (AHLC) is a humanist law organizationmuch like the ACLU who looks for a fight against anything which appears to be theviolation of church and state. Here is an online ad for lawyers to join their team.
The Appignani Humanist Legal Center is always looking for qualified Humanist-minded attorneys to join our legal team in the fight to defend the separation ofchurch and state and equal rights for humanists, atheists, and other freethinkers.

There is no such thing as separation of church and state!!! We read in Romans13:3, For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not beafraid of the power? Do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same.
The rulers in the realm of civil government, who are ministers of God, must ruleaccording to Gods law, the standard of good and evil. No government has the
freedom to rule by some arbitrary man-centered standard of good and evil. No ruleror group of rulers has the authority to establish any law that is in opposition to Godslaw.
The following is a quote from USA Today, 2/16/88: The Constitution of theUnited States says nothing about the separation of church and state. That phrasedoes appear in the Soviet Constitution. Nothing in our history indicates that thegovernment should be independent of moral values or that religious peopleshouldnt take an active role in our government. The first official act of the U.S.
Congress formed under our Constitution was to select a chaplain. The second actwas to authorize the purchase of 20,000 Bibles to give to the Indians. So much forseparation of church and state!
What to do: Know Gods Word; live by Gods Word, even in this day of secular
humanism.
SECULAR HUMANISM AND ITS EFFECT

All member organizations of the IHEU are required by bylaw 5.1 to accept theMinimum Statement on Humanism. The what? The minimum statement? Why,these people are organized and ready to fight. Notice their minimum statement.Humanism is a democratic and ethical life stance, which affirms that human beingshave the right and responsibility to give meaning and shape to their own lives. and other natural values in the spirit of reason and free inquiry through humancapabilities. It is not theistic, and it does not accept supernatural views of reality.
I repeat: these people are ready for battle and they are winning. In 196365 percent of Americans said they believed in the absolute truth of all
words in the Bible. Within 15 years, by 1978, the proportion of the population holding
this belief had declined to 38 percent. The current figure of 32 percent represents anew low in literal belief in the Bible (PRRC Emerging Trends (January 1992):1). Thesame thing has happened in England. The proportion of people who believe in apersonal God has declined from 36 percent in 1981 to 31 percent today. Those whobelieve that Jesus Christ was the Son of God has fallen from 52 percent in 1981 to48 percent today (International Christian Digest(July/August 1992)). Again, that wasin 1992. Today, its right at 40%. The Body, Charles W. Colson, 1992, WordPublishing, p. 336.
We, as believers, must remember that we are in a war, not on a vacation cruise. So what are you doing to win the spiritual warfare for Christ?
What to do: Fight the good fight of faith.
SECULAR HUMANISM ANDTHE NATIONAL DAY OF REASON
JULY 8
Bible Reading: II Chronicles 7:12-22Key Verse: 14-If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves,
and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear fromheaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Washington, DC April 27, 2012 The American Humanist Association and theSecular Coalition for America are pleased that U.S. Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA) has
officially recognized the National Day of Reason by issuing a proclamation in theHouse of Representatives. The National Day of Reason, to be observed on May 3,is an alternative to the congressionally endorsed National Day of Prayer.
The proclamation states, in part, Our nation faces many problemsbringingour troops home from Afghanistan, creating jobs, educating our children, andprotecting our safety net from irresponsible cuts. We will solve these issues throughthe application of reason. We must also protect womens reproductive choices, the

integrity of scientific research, and our public education system from those whowould hide behind religious dogma to undermine them.
Reason should be the guiding force for public policy, said Roy Speckhardt, executive director of the American Humanist Association. The National Day ofPrayer excludes millions of Americans who choose not to pray or prefer keeping
prayer private. Reason is something that everyone can celebrate.Lauren Anderson Youngblood, communications manager for the SecularCoalition for America, agreed.
Our founders recognized that the best guarantee of freedom for all was aseparation of religion and government, Youngblood said. The National Day ofReason reminds us of the continued importance of our nations founding principlesand offers an alternative to the government-sponsored theism that the National Dayof Prayer represents.
The event is scheduled on the first Thursday in May each year to coincide withthe National Day of Prayer in order to raise awareness of the threat to religiousliberty posed by government intrusion into the private sphere of worship. Many localgroups affiliated with the American Humanist Association observe the National Dayof Reason by participating in blood drives, holding rallies outside state governmentbuildings or host social gatherings. Some groups also hold rallies outside stategovernment buildings or host social gatherings. The National Day of Reasonwebsite, NationalDayofReason.org, was established by the American HumanistAssociation and the Washington Area Secular Humanists.
The American Humanist Association and the Secular Coalition for America urgeall Americans to support the constitutional principle of church-state separation byrecognizing the National Day of Reason. Supporters are encouraged to visit theofficial website, NationalDayOfReason.org, to post an event in their area, sign apetition to be sent to President Obama, and learn how to encourage localgovernments to issue a National Day of Reason proclamation.
I dont believe this is what the Lord had in mind when he said, Come now, andlet us reason together, thus saith the Lord.
Some of the government officials seem to make even reason unreasonable.~ Robert James
If we fail to pray, we will simply fail.
What to do: Keep heart, pray, and above all, trust in God.

April 27, 2012For the Congressional RecordStatement of Congressman Pete Stark
Recognizing the National Day of Reason
MR. STARK: Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize Thursday, May 3, 2012, asthe 2012 National Day of Reason.
The National Day of Reason celebrates the application of reason and thepositive impact it has had on humanity. It is also an opportunity to reaffirm theConstitutional separation of religion and government.
On March 24th, I was proud to address the tens of thousands of Americans whogathered on the Mall for the Reason Rally. These individuals came from all aroundthe country to deliver a simple message: reason must be the guiding principle of our
democracy. In a nation of citizens from so many different backgrounds and beliefs, the only way we can solve our problems is through cultivating intelligent, moral, andethical interactions among all people.
Our nation faces many problemsbringing our troops home from Afghanistan, creating jobs, educating our children, and protecting our safety net fromirresponsible cuts. We will solve these issues through the application of reason. Wemust also protect womens reproductive choices, the integrity of scientific research,
and our public education system from those who would hide behind religious dogmato undermine them. Finally, the National Day of Reason is about taking time to improve our
communities. Every year, events are held on this day that demonstrate the desire ofsecular Americans to help their fellow citizens and our nation as a whole.Community service events, such as food drives and blood drives, are just some ofthe ways that people will be working to help those in need on the Day of Reasonand throughout the year.
I encourage everyone to join in observing this day and focusing upon theemployment of reason, critical thinking, the scientific method, and free inquiry toimprove our world and our nation.
Sounds good until you realize that this is the same group that:
Denies God and the Bible
Fights against prayer in government schools

10/36
Fights against the manger scene on government property
Fights against the Ten Commandments being posted in governmentbuildings
Promotes abortion
Promotes the homosexual lifestyle Believes in evolution
And the list goes on and on.
Now, I ask: how reasonable is this?
What to do:
The only way to be reasonable is to get your world view from Godsview: the Bible.
SECULAR HUMANISM AND EDUCATIONJULY 10
Bible Reading: Deuteronomy 6:1-12Key Verse: 7-And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of
them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and
when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.Key Words: and thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children
The following is the creed of secular humanism in regard to moral education.
Moral EducationWe believe that moral development should be cultivated in children and young
adults. We do not believe that any particular sect can claim important values as their
exclusive property; hence it is the duty of public education to deal with these values.Accordingly, we support moral education in the schools that is designed to developan appreciation for moral virtues, intelligence, and the building of character. We wishto encourage wherever possible the growth of moral awareness and the capacity forfree choice and an understanding of the consequences thereof. We do not think it ismoral to baptize infants, to confirm adolescents, or to impose a religious creed onyoung people before they are able to consent. Although children should learn about

the history of religious moral practices, these young minds should not beindoctrinated in a faith before they are mature enough to evaluate the merits forthemselves. It should be noted that secular humanism is not so much a specificmorality as it is a method for the explanation and discovery of rational moralprinciples.
This creed goes against three basic Bible principles. First, it opposes GodsWord to train up a child. Secondly, it is not of integrity. While they say the childshould not be indoctrinated in faith before they are mature enough to evaluate themerits themselves, they are indoctrinating them with secular humanism before theyare mature. Thirdly, it is the role of parents to train (indoctrinate) their children, notthe secular humanists.
Our enemy is not communism or socialism; its devilish secular humanism!!!
What to do: Make sure your child is indoctrinated with Christ.
SECULAR HUMANISM AND EDUCATION,PART TWO
JULY 11
Bible Reading: I Timothy 4:1-16Key Verse: 1-Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall
depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
Key Words: doctrines of devils
See if this is not a doctrine of devils. In an article entitled Secular Humanism:All About Philosophy, it states:
Secular Humanism is an attempt to function as a civilized society with theexclusion of God and His moral principles. During the last several decades,Humanists have been very successful in propagating their beliefs. Their primary
approach is to target the youth through the public school system. HumanistCharles F. Potter writes, "Education is thus a most powerful ally of humanism, and every American school is a school of humanism. What can a theistic Sundayschool's meeting for an hour once a week and teaching only a fraction of thechildren do to stem the tide of the five-day program of humanisticteaching?" (Charles F. Potter, "Humanism: A New Religion," 1930)
7/31/2019 2012 July Emphasis on Secular Humanism
12/36
John J. Dunphy, in his award winning essay, The Humanist(1983), illustratesthis strategic focus, "The battle for humankind's future must be waged and wonin the public school classroom by teachers who correctly perceive their role asthe proselytizers of a new faith: A religion of humanity -- utilizing a classroominstead of a pulpit to carry humanist values into wherever they teach. The
classroom must and will become an arena of conflict between the old and thenew -- the rotting corpse of Christianity, together with its adjacent evils andmisery, and the new faith of humanism."
Is this what's happening? John Dewey, remembered for his efforts inestablishing America's current educational systems, was one of the chief signersof the 1933 Humanist Manifesto. It seems the Humanists have been interested inAmerica's education system for nearly a century. They have been absolutely
successful in teaching children that God is imaginary and contrary to "science."God warns us about false science which causes people to err from the faith in I
Timothy 6:20-21. So finally here we are in the last days opposing a false sciencethat stands in opposition to God. Our children learn it everyday in what we callgovernment education. God help us to see the truth!
What to do: Live by the book of God, not by the word of secularists.
SECULAR HUMANISM AND ITS ORGANIZATIONJULY 12

wickedness in high places.Key Words: for we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but spiritual
wickedness in high places.
We often think of secular humanism as a philosophy, a belief system thatopposes God and the things of God, and it is; but it is also a very well-organizedsystem.
Read the following from the Resource for Humanistic Communities:As representatives of American Humanist Association (AHA), Celebrants,

in conjunction with other like-minded organizations, provides you with the tools andprograms to help you promote your Humanistic values and ideals. We encourage allHumanist Society members to be active in their local organizations and help us putour philosophy forward. And of course, the Humanist Society itself staff, Officersand other members, are always willing to help with these endeavors.
Secular humanism is not a helter-skelter movement; it is well organized with afervent and zealous membership who lobby Washington and your State Capitol aswell to promote the humanist agenda. Satan is at work; so must we be as well.
What to do:
Stand against the ungodly agenda of the secular humanists in yourneighborhood. Support Biblical politicians; pray; be faithful to God;witness daily. In other words, be as fervent and zealous for God as theyare for their agenda.

According to the Council for Secular Humanism, within the United States, theterm Secular Humanism describes a world view with the following elements andprinciples:
Need to test beliefs A conviction that dogmas, ideologies and traditions,
whether religious, political or social, must be weighed and tested by each
individual and not simply accepted by faith. Reason, evidence, scientific method A commitment to the use of critical
reason, factual evidence and scientific methods of inquiry in seeking
solutions to human problems and answers to important human questions.
Fulfillment, growth, creativity A primary concern with fulfillment, growth
and creativity for both the individual and humankind in general.

Search for truth A constant search for objective truth, with the
understanding that new knowledge and experience constantly alter our
imperfect perception of it.
This life A concern for this life (as opposed to an afterlife) and a
commitment to making it meaningful through better understanding of
ourselves, our history, our intellectual and artistic achievements, and the
outlooks of those who differ from us.
Ethics A search for viable individual, social and political principles of
ethical conduct, judging them on their ability to enhance human well-being
and individual responsibility.
Building a better world A conviction that with reason, an open exchange
of ideas, good will, and tolerance, progress can be made in building a betterworld for ourselves and our children.
Rebuttal Need to test beliefs What is the rule or guide by which one tests their
beliefs? We, as believers, as well believe in testing our beliefs, but not by
our own standard but by Gods Word (I John 4:1; II Corinthians 10:12). Reason, evidence, scientific method We believe without faith it is
impossible to please Him (Hebrews 11:6). Fulfillment, growth, creativity For without me ye can do nothing. (John
15:5) Search for truth John 1:17 and 14:6. This life Luke 12:19-21; Revelation 3:17. Ethics How about Galatians 5:22-23? Sounds pretty responsible to me! Building a better world God has that planned, too! Revelation 21:1-5
It just appears to me that the secular humanists are looking for what we alreadyhave: Jesus Christ. May they find Him as well!!
What to do: Look to Jesus. Hes got all things under control.

SECULAR HUMANISTS AND MARRIAGEJULY 15
Bible Reading: Malachi 2:11-17Key Verse: 14-Yet ye say, Wherefore? Because the LORD hath been witness
between thee and the wife of thy youth, against whom thou hast dealt
treacherously: yet is she thy companion, and the wife of thy covenant.Key Words: yet is she thy companion
Marriage is between one man and one woman. That is Gods plan, that is Godswill.
Marriage isnt a political agenda. It is a Biblical plan.Genesis 2:24 says: Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and
shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. The word wife is a feminine word meaning woman!Deuteronomy 24:1 says: When a man hath taken a wife, and married herGenesis 12:5a says:And Abram took Sarai his wifeGenesis 24:3 says: And I will make thee swear by the LORD, the God of
heaven, and the God of the earth, that thou shalt not take a wife unto my son of thedaughters of the Canaanites, among whom I dwell
Exodus 4:20 says:And Moses took his wife [feminine; woman]
Read Gods Word. There was Boaz and Ruth, Elimelech and Naomi, Elkanahand Hannah, David and Bathsheba, Ahab and Jezebel, Ahasuerus and Esther,Joshua and his wife, Lot and his wife, Hosea and his wife, Peter and his wife andthe list goes on and on; but never do you find an Adam and Steve. Its always Adamand Eve--man and woman in the marriage relationship.
We also read in Leviticus 20:13a that: If a man also lie with mankind (Hebrewword for male), as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed anabomination
I Corinthians 6:9 says: Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit thekingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind
The word abusers means sodomite or men who lie with men.You see, it really doesnt matter what you say or what I say, it really doesnt
matter what the President says. God has spoken and as Paul said in Romans 3:4b:
let God be true and every man a liar.
What to do: Let God be true and every man a liar.

SECULAR HUMANISM AND SAME SEX UNIONSJULY 16
Bible Reading: Mark 10:1-12Key Verse: 9-Whattherefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder.Key Words: what therefore God hath joined together
Gods Word is clear and easily understood when it comes to marriage. Marriageis between one man and one woman.
I realize that our Bible reading for today is dealing with divorce, but at the sametime it makes it clear in marriage: what God joins together(verse 2) man and wife(feminine for woman)(verse 6) male and female(verse 7) man and wife(verse8) and they twain (man and woman).
Today same sex unions and marriage are being shoved down our throats. Forexample, in a recent J. C. Penney ad you find two women with arms embracedaround each other, and the ad reads, Youll often find Wendi, her partner, Maggie, and daughters elbow deep in paint, clay, or mosaics.
The movie and television media industry are promoting the homosexuallifestyle, and those of us who stand in opposition to this lifestyle are seen as right-wing fundamentalist religious bigots. I am not a bigot, but I am a Biblicist. How aboutyou?
What to do: Love the sinner; hate the sin.

The following article was written for the Free Inquiry, a secular humanistbulletin. It reads in part:Moral relativism is the view that ethical standards, morality, and positions of
right or wrong are culturally based and therefore subject to a person's individualchoice. We can all decide what is right for ourselves. You decide what's right foryou, and I'll decide what's right for me. Moral relativism says, It's true for me, if Ibelieve it.

Judges 18:1, In those days there was no king in Israel: and in those days thetribe of the Danites sought them an inheritance to dwell in; for unto that day all theirinheritance had not fallen unto them among the tribes of Israel.
Judges 19:1, And it came to pass in those days, when there was no king inIsrael, that there was a certain Levite sojourning on the side of mount Ephraim, whotook to him a concubine out of Bethlehemjudah.
Deuteronomy 12:8, Ye shall not do after all the things that we do here this day, every man whatsoever is right in his own eyes.

In the Free Inquiryarticle mentioned in yesterdays devotional in regard to moralrelativism, it goes on to say
Moral relativism has steadily been accepted as the primary moral philosophy of
modern society, a culture that was previously governed by a Judeo-Christian viewof morality. While these Judeo-Christian standards continue to be the foundation forcivil law, most people hold to the concept that right or wrong are not absolutes, butcan be determined by each individual. Morals and ethics can be altered from onesituation, person, or circumstance to the next. Essentially, moral relativism says thatanything goes, because life is ultimately without meaning.

There you have it. By their own admission, life has no meaning. Finally, something I can agree with them on; and that is a life without God is a life withno meaning.
Charles Swindoll tells a story about the 19th Century agnostic Thomas Huxley(some of you might know that it was Huxley who promoted Darwinism and
Humanism in his attacks on Christianity). Huxley was in Dublin and was rushing tocatch a train. He climbed aboard one of Dublins famous horse drawn taxis and saidto the driver -"Hurry, Im almost late ... drive fast." Off they went at a furious paceand Huxley sat back in his seat and closed his eyes. After a while Huxley opened hiseyes and glanced out the window to notice that they were going in the wrongdirection. Realizing that he hadnt told the driver where to take him he called out,Do you know where youre going? The driver replied, No, your honour, but I amdriving very fast.
So it is with secular humanism. It has no idea where its going, and as a resultits going in the wrong direction. But its going fast! How sad!!
What to do: Life can have meaning but only as you surrender your will to Gods will.
THE SOUL OF THE SECULAR HUMANISTJULY 19
Bible Reading: Psalm 33Key Verse: 19-To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.Key Words: to deliver their soul from death
Chuck Colson in his book Kingdoms in Conflictwrote on pages 182-183 aboutthe soul of the secular humanist. It reads as follows.
The United Nations complex sits on sixteen acres of New York Citys choicestreal estate, bordering the East River and Manhattan. The lean, immense Secretariatbuilding rises into the sky, the sun reflecting off its window walls. Bright flags of thenations of the world fly in the breezes off the river; the most prominent is the blueand white UN flag, its two white reeds of olive branches surrounding the world.
A visitor is immediately struck by the grandeur of the building, stirred by thesight of dignitaries stepping out of black limousines to cross the massive plaza. Herealizes that if this place represents the powers of the world, one might well want tosee the place of worship, where the nations bow before the One under whose rulethey govern.
The information personnel are bemused. The chapel? We dont have a chapel. If there is one, I believe its across the street. The visitor darts across the

thoroughfare, dodging New Yorks taxis, and successfully arrives at the oppositebuildings security-clearance desk.
Well, theres a chapel here, responds the officer, But its not associated withthe UN. He thumbs through a directory. Oh, I see, all right, here it is. Its across thestreetand tell them youre looking for the mediation room.
Again the visitor dashes across the pavement. An attendant tells him that theroom is not open to the public; its a nonessential area, and there has been apersonnel cutback. But a security guard will escort the visitor through long, crowdedhallways and swinging glass doors. Again, there is the pervasive sense of weightymatters being discussed in the noble pursuit of world peace.
The guide pauses at an unmarked door. He unlocks it and gingerly pushes itopen. The small room is devoid of people or decoration. The walls are stark white. There are no windows. A few wicker stools surround a large square rock at the
center of the room. It is very quiet. But there is no altar, rug, vase, candle, or symbolof any type of religious worship. Ceiling lights create bright spots of illumination onthe front wall. One focuses on a piece of modern art: steel squares and ovals.Beyond the abstract shapes, there is nothing in those bright circles of light. They arefocused on a void. And it is in that void that the visitor suddenly sees the void of thesoul of secular humanism.
What to do:
Thank the Lord today that you have seen the light, and that your soul isnot void and empty.

Theodore Schick, Jr. writing for the Council for Secular Humanism says:
The promise of immortality is one of the great enticements of religion. The Bible
tells us, for example, that whoever believes in Jesus will have eternal life (John
3:16). As a result, many Christians believe that, when they die, their souls will go to
heaven. Many humanists, on the other hand, find this belief incredible. Not only is
7/31/2019 2012 July Emphasis on Secular Humanism

there no reliable evidence for the existence of souls, but the very notion of a soul
seems vacuous.
Souls have traditionally been considered to be immaterial things. But an
immaterial thing can only be defined negatively: it has no physical properties and no
location in space. So how can we tell whether we have a soul? How can we
distinguish one soul from another? How can we identify the same soul at differenttimes? Difficult questions. But let's give the theists their souls. Let's suppose that
there are souls and that they do go to heaven. My question is this: if your soul goes
to heaven, will you go to heaven? In other words, are you your soul?
To answer Mr. Schicks questions in a word: yes! But let me quickly say that
man is a triune being with body, soul, and spirit.
The soul is made up of our personality, the seat of our emotions. Gods Word
has much to say about the soul.
It lives. Genesis 2:7 and I Corinthians 15:45.
It can lust. Deuteronomy 12:20.
It can serve. Joshua 22:5.
It can pant after God. Psalm 42:1.
It can have pleasure. Hebrews 10:38.
It can prosper. III John 2
Yes, we are our soul, something the secular humanists have a hard time
comprehending because the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of
God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are
spiritually discerned (I Corinthians 2:14).

The webpage World Views states the following regarding secular humanismand economics.
A socialist system of secular economics is consistent with the Secular Humanistworldview. Although some support a free market economy, many of those whoshaped Secular Humanist thought in the last century were socialists.
If we deny our fallen nature, some form of socialism becomes the mostattractive economic system for creating a heaven on earth. If original sin does notexist, then a community of mutual cooperation and sharing of work and wealthbecomes a possibility. Socialism or some degree of interventionism becomes theeconomic system best suited to promote the ethics of Secular Humanism and rectifythe evils of capitalism.
Secular Humanists view of economics is not only socialism, it is very much un-Biblical.
Gods plea for economic well-being is for every man to earn his own wagesand his own way.
Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labourshall increase. Proverbs 13:11

Mario Bunge writing forThe Council for Secular Humanism says:
We are currently facing a long list of formidable worldwide challenges-global
warming, the exhaustion of nonrenewable resources, resource wars, increasing
income inequality, crushing national debts, rising violence on all scales, militarism,
the new American imperialism, advertising-driven consumerism, the crisis of the
welfare state, the decline of labor unions, the resurgence of religious fanaticism,
increasing intolerance, the commercialization of politics, the defamation of classical
liberalism and socialism, the decline of student enrollment in science and
engineering programs, the popularity of postmodernism, and the displacement ofeducated art by commercial pop culture.
Isnt this interesting: the very heart of secular humanism is that we are free to do
what we, as individuals, feel is best for us; but isnt much of the above list the result
of mankind doing what he wants to do? You see, even the secular humanists believe
that mans freedom to do as he thinks best is a problem.

SECULAR HUMANISM AND ABRAHAM LINCOLNJULY 23
Bible Reading: John 7:14-24Key Verse: 24- Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous
judgment.
Key Words:judge righteous judgment
Secular humanist, Richard Lawrence Miller, wrote an article entitled TheReligious Skepticism of Abraham Lincoln. Secular humanists are continually
attempting to prove that our leaders of the past were not believers. In doing so, they
put their own slant to history, destroying the truth. But Nelson L. Price records the
following from President Lincolns speeches and life.
Mr. Lincoln believed the Bible. At a very early age he was taught the Bible. He
memorized the Ten Commandments. Through his life there are many instances
where his conduct was guided by one of the commandments. It was evident allthrough his life that he honored his father and mother which is the first
commandment with promise.
A. The commandments motivated his honesty and integrity. He was so honest
that as a young lawyer arguing a case he would even befriend his opponent. If the
attorney arguing a case against him forgot a point, he would remind him of it. Thus,
he became known as the most honest lawyer east of China. Part of this label
lasted through his life, and he is still known as Honest Abe.B. On an occasion he was heard to say, When I am confronted with temptation,
I can still vividly hear the tones on my mothers voice saying, I am the Lord thy God,
which brought you out of Egypt. Thou shall not steal.
C. He had a great regard for the Lords Day. At the approach of the battle of
Falmouth General McDowell came to him on Saturday and said, Sir, my troops are
ready at a moments notice and can move out tomorrow. The inquiry was made by

General McDowell because he knew Mr. Lincolns regard for the Lords Day. The
president replied, No, give them the Lords Day of rest.
Mark this date, Tuesday, April 13, 1865. That day Mr. Lincoln wrote a letter to
Pastor Gurley of the church in Washington he had attended with increased
regularity. In that letter he told of his saving faith in Jesus Christ. Note these lines
from that letter dated April 13, 1865,: On the forthcoming Lords day, I would like tomake public my commitment.
The date of the forthcoming Lords day would be April 18. Mr. Lincolns letter
was mailed April 13. The day after the letter was mailed Mrs. Lincoln insisted that
they get away from the pressures by going to a play that evening at the Ford
Theater.
They arrived late and were seated in the Presidential Booth. During the course
of the play the presidents bodyguard left his post to go to a nearby bar for a drink.During the play it was apparent to Mrs. Lincoln the President was preoccupied.
Biographers record that during a lull in the play Mr. Lincoln leaned over and
whispered to Mrs. Lincoln. Mary, he said, Do you know the one thing in all the
world I would like to do? I would like to take you on a trip with me to the Near East
and we could visit Bethlehem where He was born. Just then John Wilkes Booth
approached the Presidential Box unnoticed. The President paused. Booth raised his
gun and the President continued, We could go to Nazareth, Bethany Booth took
aim as Mr. Lincoln said, Mary, we could even go up to Jerusalem. Just then a shot
rang out. Mr. Lincoln slumped forward mortally wounded.
7:22 A.M., April 15, just three days before Mr. Lincoln proposed to walk the aisle
of his church to make known his faith in Jesus Christ, Mr. Lincoln walked the golden
streets of the New Jerusalem. He was blessed to do so because two years before
his death, on November 19, 1863, at Gettysburg, as he later wrote, There I
consecrated my life to Christ.
This doesnt sound much like the religious skeptic the secular humanists want
us to believe Mr. Lincoln was, now does it?

SECULAR HUMANISM ANDTHE NEW AGE MOVEMENT

Key Verse: 20- Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of thisworld? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world?Key Words: hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world
Secular humanism and the New Age movement have at least one thing in
common which is the prevention of the extinction of the human race.
Also, New Agers along with secular humanists, both support the
establishment of a new world order that will police the globe and bring peace to all
of the world. (Sounds like they are looking for the Anti-Christ to me!)
Sadly, New Age thinking has permeated nearly every aspect of modern life.
Large corporations send their decision-making managers to seminars on mind
enhancement. Therapists employ techniques based on inner reflection and
exploration of consciousness. Marketing experts emphasize human potential for
its motivation power. Entertainers turn inward to discover an inner power that will
catapult them to popularity. What was once an insignificant subculture of devotees
has now moved into the mainstream of American life. The church must resist
every expression of this perversion of the truth.
Scripture exposes the deception of this subtle dishonesty. As it is written,
There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is
none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together
become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one.(Rom. 3:10-12).
Unlike New Age, the Bible declares that truth is found, not by looking inward to
self, but by looking upward, not by looking to men, but by looking to God (Jer.
17:5,9). Pauls rhetorical question says it best: "Hath not God made foolish the
wisdom of this world?" (1 Corinthians 1:20). Indeed, Neither is there salvation in
any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby
we must be saved.(Acts 4:12).
On the basis of Gods inspired Word, every child of god must reject the lies of
secular humanism and New Age heresy as contrary to the Truth.~ Author Unknown

A big thing on the secular humanists agenda is world peace. Most
Humanists call for universal disarmament and expanded power for the UnitedNations as two steps necessary for the implementation of a democratic worldcommunity. The first steps in avoiding a nuclear cataclysm and preservingdemocracy are to agree on universal disarmament, according to Erich Fromm.*Linus Pauling believes, The only hope for the world lies in achieving control ofthe methods of waging war and ultimately to reach the goal of total and universaldisarmament. Once disarmed, nations will be more willing to cooperate, less
intent on enforcing nationalistic boundaries, and ready to merge into a globalcommunity. At present, the only organization that is truly global in scope is theUnited Nations. Thus, Secular Humanists support expanded power for thisinstitution. William Carleton says, Our hopes for political internationalism mayhave to center around the United Nations.
The world as we know it today will never be at peace, nor will disarmamentbring peace, and the UN will certainly never produce peace. Only Jesus can
bring permanent peace and He will at His coming. The Personnel Journalreported this incredible statistic: since the beginning
of recorded history, the entire world has been at peace less than eight percent ofthe time! In its study, the periodical discovered that of 3530 years of recordedhistory, only 286 years saw peace. Moreover, in excess of 8000 peace treatieswere made--and broken.

In Humanist Manifesto 2000, Kurtz argues for a World Parliament andelections to it based on populationwhich will represent the people, not theirgovernments. He goes on to say, The idea of a World Parliament is similar tothe evolution of the European Parliament, still in its infancy. The current UNGeneral Assembly is an assembly of nations. This new World Parliament would
enact legislative policies in a democratic manner. Perhaps a bicamerallegislature is the most feasible with both a Parliament of peoples and a GeneralAssembly of nations.
Humanists have consistently worked in conjunction with the United Nationsto bring the world closer to globalism. Julian Huxley served as the first DirectorGeneral of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization(UNESCO). Lamont says, Ever since I was an undergraduate at Harvard, I have
been active in endeavors to establish enduring world peace. I backed theLeague of Nations, and since World War II, I have vigorously supported theUnited Nations. What a shame!

I care about Christmas, not for the getting or even for the giving. I love
Christmas because its a time we celebrate Christs birth.I also love Easter, although I prefer to call it Resurrection Sunday. I love it
because its an opportunity to proclaim the truth that Jesus lives to those whoonly come that one Sunday each year. But in reality, I celebrate the resurrection365 days a year.
In our text Paul warns us about setting aside special days which gives ussome special spiritual meat. For example, I dont go to church on Sundays to
gain righteousness; I go because I am righteous. So when one recognizes a day of reason or a day called Earth Day, does
that make them care more for the earth than others? Truth be knownJesuscares more for the earth than all the secular humanists because the earth is His(Psalm 24:1).

JULY 28

John Dawkins in an article entitled 5 Reasons America Is on the Decline lists the
Christian church as the Number One reason.
He says: We have fetishized diversity, tolerance, compassion, and niceness somuch that those traits practically make up the core of a left-wing pseudo-religion
because they're among the very few areas where we've morally surpassed previous
generations of Americans. However, it's worth asking how you think modern
Americans compare to previous generations on traits like charity, chastity, duty,
Godliness, honesty, honor, industriousness, respect for authority, work ethic, and
self-reliance. Most people would agree that modern Americans don't even come
close to measuring up.
A large part of the blame for that travesty rests on the shoulders of the Christian
church. Most churches in this country have become complacent and are all too
content to preach to the aging choir rather than adopt modern methods of
communication. Where are the Twitter and Facebook pages? Where are the best
clips from sermons on YouTube? They exist, but they're few and far between. Many
churches have also become so cowed that they're not willing to stick up for theBiblical principles out of fear that someone might be offended. The truth is that if
your pastor isn't fairly regularly saying things that would probably offend the ACLU,
Lady Gaga, Bill Maher, and Barney Frank, then you should probably find another
church. It's not about being political; it's about standing up for what you believe in.
When even most pastors seem to lack the courage to speak out, it's no surprise that
the number of Americans who consider religion to be "not very important" has
quadrupled in the last 50 years.
Back in 1779 Samuel Adams wrote, "A general dissolution of principles and

first external or internal invader." (Which I believe has already invaded our church:
Secular Humanism!!)
What to do:
Pastors need to both preach and live the Word. Believers need to liveand proclaim the Word. We are to be different from the world, youknow!
A QUICK OVERVIEW OF SECULAR HUMANISMJULY 29
Bible Reading: Joshua 1:1-8Key Verse: 8- This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt
meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all thatis written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalthave good success.
Key Words: this book
Here are a few things the humanists believe and what Gods Word says aboutthese items.
Belief in GodHumanists do not consider important. What the Bible says: Proverbs 3:5-8; Psalm 14:1; Luke 12:16-21; John 3:16.
Origin of Universe and LifeThe scientific method is most respected as the means for revealing the mysteries ofthe origins of the universe and life.
Not according to the Bible: Genesis 1:1; John 1:1-2; Psalm 8:3; Psalm 102:25 After Death
An afterlife or spiritual existence after death is not recognized.Again, Gods Word says differently: Luke 12:20; John 14:1-3; II Corinthians 5:8;
Luke 16:19-31; John 3:16
Why Evil?No concept of evil. Reasons for wrongdoing are explored through scientificmethods, e.g. through study of sociology, psychology, criminology.
Read Psalm 37:27; Proverbs 13:21, 16:27; Matthew 6:13; I Timothy 6:10 Salvation
No concept of afterlife or spiritual liberation or salvation. Realizing ones personalpotential and working for the betterment of humanity through ethical consciousness

and social works are considered paramount, but from a naturalistic rather thansupernatural standpoint.
Look at Acts 4:12, 16:31; Romans 10:9-10; John 3:16; John 5:24; Romans 6:23 Undeserved Suffering
No spiritual reasons but rather a matter of human vulnerability to misfortune, illness,
and victimization.Look at James 5:14-15; Matthew 9:2; Jonah 2; II Chronicles 26:16-21The choices are simple: you can believe what man says or what God says.
Sounds like an easy choice to me!
What to do: Follow the advice of Joshua 1:8.
THE FINALITY OF SECULAR HUMANISMJULY 30
Bible Reading: Luke 12:13-21Key Verse: 20- But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required
of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?
Key Words: thou fool
Psalm 14:1 says, The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.
Aldous Huxley writes in regard to secular humanism:
"There is no place in the Humanist worldview for either immortality or God in the
valid meanings of those terms. Humanism contends that instead of the gods
creating the cosmos, the cosmos, in the individualized form of human beings giving
rein to their imagination, created the gods."
"The classroom must and will become an area of conflict between the old and
the new- the rotting corpse of Christianity, together with its adjacent evils and misery
and the new faith of Humanism, resplendent in its promise of a world in which the
never-realized Christian idea of 'Love thy Neighbor' will finally be achieved.""The ultimate failure of Secular Humanism is in the fact that of its very nature it
promises what it cannot fulfill. By encouraging people to put their trust in earthly
happiness it programs them for disillusionment. This is in large measure the reason
why the history of the modern world has been characterized, intellectually, by
philosophies of pessimism like Existentialism and by often-rancorous bitterness over
various plans for worldly improvement. In the twentieth century, mass slaughter has

been perpetrated not by religious believers in opposition to heresy but by secularists
convinced that their plan for a worldly utopia is the only possible one."
~ James Hitchcock, What Is Secular Humanism?
James Dobson says:
"The humanistic system of values has now become the predominant way of
thinking in most of the power centers of society."Bertrand Russell, a clear-headed liberal humanist, wrote as follows about what
he called 'the night of nothingness': 'There is darkness without and when I die there
will be darkness within. There is no splendor, no vastness, anywhere; only triviality
for a moment, and then nothing.' That says it all. Whereas for the Christian nothing
is finally trivial, for the humanist everything becomes finally trivial, death, as Russell
says, producing precisely that effect."
Ah, but this is not true at all for the secular humanist: at death thy soul shall be
required of thee.
What to do: Pray for those who are blinded by secular humanism that they may see
and come to Christ as Savior.
SECULAR HUMANISM:A FINAL THOUGHT
JULY 31 Bible Reading: I John 2:1-17

Any system of thought or action based on the nature, dignity, interests, and
ideals of humanity. Specifically, a modern, non-theistic, rational movement which
holds that human beings are capable of self-fulfillment and ethical conduct without
recourse to supernaturalism.
~ Webster New World Dictionary, Second Edition
Humanism is the term applied to: (1) a system of education based on theGreek and Latin classics; and (2) the vigorous attitudes that accompanied the end of
the Middle Ages, represented by the Renaissance, the Reformation, the Industrial
Revolution, and the struggle for democracy. These attitudes include the liberation of
the intellect, faith in progress, and the belief that humans can improve their own
conditions without supernatural help and have a duty to do so.
~ Information Please Almanac
Humanism is a philosophy of joyous service for the greater good of allhumanity in this natural world and according to the methods of reason and
democracy.
Let me end this series of devotionals with a caution: Some years ago, musicians
noted that errand boys in a certain part of London all whistled out of tune as they
went about their work. It was talked about and someone suggested that it was
because the bells of Westminster were slightly out of tune. Something had gone
wrong with the chimes and they were discordant. The boys did not know there was
anything wrong with the peals, and quite unconsciously they had copied their pitch.
So we tend to copy the people with whom we associate; we borrow thoughts
from the books we read and the programs to which we listen, almost without
knowing it. God has given us His Word which is the absolute pitch of life and living. If
we learn to sing by it, we shall easily detect the false in all of the music of the world.
Amen!
What to do: Love God. Stay in tune with Him, and secular humanism while apart
from the Word, by Gods grace, will not become a part of you.
